- On the outskirts of Tokyo there is a small, climate-controlled vault containing hundreds of artworks by Shinjo Ito, the most prolific Japanese Buddhist artist of the 21st century. Although experts regard these pieces as some of the best examples of Japanese art, the artist and his work had remained virtually unknown for almost 100 years. But everything would change in 2007, when a team was assembled to create the first international exhibition of his works. An Artist's Journey follows Shinjo Ito's life and art from his birthplace in rural Japan to the first public display of his work in New York City, and reveals the challenges of presenting the work of this unknown artist to an audience that was unfamiliar with Japanese and Buddhist cultures.
- Even professional hit men can have a bad day, but for SHADES, they seem to be the rule, not the exception. Stranded in a small town as he struggles to complete a simple job, SHADES seeks the guidance of a self-help guru, the sweetness of his favorite PEZ candies, and the inspiration of his childhood hero, Popeye, as he attempts to get his fractured life back on course.
- Moto na Maji documents how an extraordinary international group of religious leaders, social advocates, environmentalists, and artists gathered with local communities at the Great Rift Valley in Kenya, the cradle of humanity, to offer prayers for an awakening of compassion and altruism. An ancient Buddhist ceremony was adapted by Shinnyo-en, the Japanese Buddhist order, to be shared and to be meaningful for everyone. As the clergy, artists, and local communities collaborated, they realized a transcendence of difference and spirit of harmony. The film shares their experience, as sung in Swahili: 'Mother Africa, home to the human soul, we all have one heart, one love. We are all family. We your children return with a gift: a ceremony of fire (awakening).'
- What happened to the legendary American explorer and first governor of Upper Louisiana, Meriwether Lewis, who supposedly shot himself in 1809? Was it an actual suicide, a possible robbery gone wrong or a full blown murder conspiracy?
