- Mixteco Kid (a.k.a. Mixteco Boy) is a coming-of-age story about a fifteen-year-old kid named Pablo who dreams about being a soccer star. Pablo's soccer hero is Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez who is tall, light-skinned, and has green eyes. Pablo has none of these physical traits. However, he's determined to overcome his environment and the discrimination. However, along the way, Pablo turns away from his heritage and believes that success will make his own inner conflict go away. The hardest hurdle Pablo faces is accepting that he is worthy of this new success. Through trial and error, he learns that he needs to re-embrace his roots, and celebrate them with others. Pablo's dream will open the door for others and heal a divided community.
