- DirectorAkihiko ShiotaStarsAoi MiyazakiSeiichi TanabeTetsu SawakiFollowing the divorce of her parents, her mother's suicide attempt, and the rumors of an affair with her teacher, a lonely 7th grader starts skipping school in an attempt to find herself.8
Very powerful movie, leaves a lot of room for interpretation. Not an easy one to watch too, requires full attention and possibly a second viewing. Leaves you thinking about it for days. - DirectorHitoshi YazakiStarsMiki NakataniNao ÔmoriJûichi KobayashiStuck in a stale marriage, a soft toy designer and an office worker explore the limits of mutual honesty.6
While not exactly original story, this movie is pleasant for an eye, calm, slow-paced and relaxing. - DirectorHan Sang-heeStarsLee Joon-giAoi MiyazakiSeon-Yeong BaekMin is a Korean boy moves to Japan with his father who is a potter. One day at a local shrine, he meets Nanae, a beautiful Japanese girl with stunning eyes who is aspiring to be a painter. When Min's grandmother falls ill, Min returns to Korea and Nanae is nowhere to be found. Had his true feelings for Nanae not been apparent to her? Why has Nanae disappeared without a word?5
Did not like the story and production quality is mediocre at best. The aspect of language/communication barrier between the main characters, however, was very interesting. - DirectorJae-geun YoonStarsYunjin KimPark Hae-ilJeong Da-hyeOne middle aged women is admitted to the hospital in a coma. Yeon-hee, who has been searching for a heart to transplant to her daughter, who has critical heart disease, is begging middle aged women's gangster son, Whee-do, by giving him a fortune. But when the reasons for Whee-do's mom are revealed one by one, Yeon-hee, who became desperate, is teaming up with dangerous people...5
A decent drama. Too many kidnappings and too little logic for my liking. - DirectorMichael GreenspanStarsAdrien BrodyCaroline DhavernasRyan RobbinsA man wakes in a car wreck at the bottom of a ravine and must overcome incredible odds to survive.3
Very very weak. Gave it 3 just because i have seen Speed Demon (2003). Main character's actions make very little sense. Why would someone go crawling into the woods for days after the car crash, instead of going straight back to the road? Luckily its just 85 min long. - DirectorYimou ZhangStarsZiyi ZhangHonglei SunHao ZhengPrompted by the death of his father and the grief of his mother, a man recalls the story of how they met in flashback.8
Great movie. The story is sincere and touching, and Yimou Zhang does amazing job visually. Some of the scenes look just dazzling. - DirectorByeong-gon KimStarsKim Ha-neulJang Keun-sukRyu Tae-joonEun-Yi (Kim Ha-Neul) works as an editor for a fashion magazine. She keeps failing in relationships with men, but doesn't get along with her colleagues. In-Ho (Jang Keun-Suk) was a promising ballet dancer. Two years ago he lifted a female dancer, but dropped her on accident. Because of this accident the woman was unable to dance any further and, now, In-Ho won't dance with women anymore. In-Ho now hopes to become a musical choreographer. Unfortunately for In-Ho, he doesn't have a place to stay. He goes to a bar where his friend Eun-Soo (Choi Jong-Hoon) works. Later that night, Eun-Soo takes In-Ho over to his older sister's house (fashion magazine editor Eun-Yi). When Eun-Yi arrives at her home, she walks into the bathroom and sees someone brushing her teeth. As she walks by she pats him on his rear end, assuming the guy is her younger brother Eun-Soo. When the guy turns around she's shocked that it is a complete stranger. Eun-Soo then asks his older sister Eun-Yi if In-Ho can stay at her place temporarily, telling her that he's really good with household chores. Eun-Yi disapproves of the idea, but that night Eun-Soo accepts money from In-Ho to stay at her sister's place. The next evening, on a rainy night, Eun-Yi walks home and finds a large blue box on front of her home. When she looks inside of the box she's shocked again to see the guy the from the other day, In-Ho, sitting in the box. Ji-Eun brings sopping wet In-Ho into her apartment, while she tries to contact her younger brother. Her younger brother doesn't answer her calls. Oddly enough, In-Ho reminds Eun-Yi of her former pet dog Momo. Eun-Yi then comes up with an arrangement. She will let In-Ho stay at her apartment if he will become her pet dog named Momo. As they become more familiar and comfortable with each other, Eun-Yi's first love Cha Woo-Sung (Ryu Tae-Joon) comes to her office looking for her .5
While not particularly a great movie, it definitely does not deserve its current IMDB rating of 2.1. It is light, pleasant, has some good humor and nice-looking actors. Had a nice time watching it. - DirectorEon-hie LeeStarsLim Soo-jungKim Rae-wonLee Mi-sookMi-na, a high school student living alone with her mother, dreams of having the perfect boyfriend. But can any man hope to live up to her image of the ideal partner?7
A perfect example of the romantic drama Koreans are so good at. Nothing original in the story really, but makes you feel for the main characters. - DirectorNaoto KumazawaStarsMikako TabeHaruma MiuraMisako RenbutsuA girl that resemble "Sadako" of the movie Ring is being feared by her classmates. She is avoided by everyone. While everyone is avoiding her, the popular boy Shota Kazehaya befriends her, and their love begins to grow.5
Did not expect it to be so much teen oriented. Being perhaps interesting for kids and teens, its too flat and shallow for adults. Not a bad movie, I am just in the wrong target group.
PS! And its hardly a drama. - DirectorAng LeeStarsChow Yun-FatMichelle YeohZiyi ZhangA young Chinese warrior steals a sword from a famed swordsman and then escapes into a world of romantic adventure with a mysterious man in the frontier of the nation.10
One of my all-time favorites, this movie is a breathtaking experience. Perfect in every aspect, it is beautifully filmed and served to the viewer. Features one of the best sword fights you will ever see (Ziyi Zhang vs Michelle Yeoh) and absolutely stunning OST.
One of the few movies i can re-watch regularly and be overwhelmed by it again and again. - DirectorShawn LevyStarsHugh JackmanEvangeline LillyDakota GoyoIn a near future where robot boxing is a top sport, a struggling ex-boxer feels he's found a champion in a discarded robot.6
Was a surprise for me. Turned out much better than i expected it to be. Instead of another CGI dummy aka Transformers 3, it proved to be a good family movie, that provides a lot of fun and has some heart in it. - DirectorChao-Bin SuJohn WooStarsMichelle YeohJung Woo-sungXueqi WangDrizzle/Zeng Jing tries to start a new life after she had betrayed her gang and hid the remains of monk.6
What it misses in plot and story, it makes up in reasonably good cinematography. And John Woo's touches combined with excellent fight scenes choreography make it an entertaining action movie. - DirectorOliver ParkerStarsRowan AtkinsonRosamund PikeDominic WestJohnny English goes up against international assassins hunting down Chinese Premier Xiang Ping.6
Light, entertaining comedy that provides a few good laughs and isn't annoying. You can't ask for more. - DirectorDanny BoyleStarsCillian MurphyRose ByrneChris EvansA team of international astronauts is sent on a dangerous mission to reignite the dying Sun with a nuclear fission bomb in 2057.7
A great science fiction movie overall, it can be split in two parts: while the first half is a sci-fi thriller, the second half is something else, something mad with philosophical subtext. Colorful and vivid images make this movie an eye-candy all the way through. At the time when good space-based sci-fi is hard to come by, definitely worth seeing. - DirectorTarsem SinghStarsHenry CavillMickey RourkeJohn HurtTheseus is a mortal man chosen by Zeus to lead the fight against the ruthless King Hyperion, who is on a rampage across Greece to obtain a weapon that can destroy humanity.5
Not a big fan of these mythology based movies. This one in particular seemed weak, even silly and dull at times. Couldn't help myself but felt relieved when it finally ended. - DirectorDominique FarrugiaStarsFranck DuboscRichard BerryJean-Hugues AngladeThomas Gardesse, a traveling alarm systems salesman, is arrested for a minor offense and sentenced to six months imprisonment. Mistaken for a criminal mastermind, he is sprung by a gang that expects him rob an armored car for them.5
A french comedy, good enough to have a nice time watching it. Pleasant main characters, light humor, couldn't expect more. - DirectorSuk-Yoon KimStarsKim Myung-minOh Dal-suHan Ji-minDetective genius Detective K is enlisted by the king to investigate a string of murders that may be linked to a government conspiracy. But when K becomes a suspect himself, he'll have to catch the killers to prove his own innocence.6
Surprisingly good adventure/crime movie. Quality made, keeps you interested throughout. Will be glad to see a sequel, which shouldn't be too far away, considering it was one of the top grossing Korean movies in 2011. - DirectorJohn WooStarsChow Yun-FatDanny LeeSally YehA disillusioned assassin accepts one last hit in hopes of using his earnings to restore vision to a singer he accidentally blinded.7
In the best traditions of the late 80's/early 90's action films, this is one of the best 'old' Hong Kong movies. - DirectorSang-woo KimStarsUhm JunghwaDaniel HenneyHolly Karrol ClarkA Korean company analyst rear-ends an American man's car then discovers he's her new boss. Unlucky at love, she begins to take romance lessons from him in order to seduce him.5
While well directed and quality made, the story is quite disappointing. Another take on the worn-off naive girl/macho guy romance story, with no attempt even to introduce something original. The comedy aspect is quite weak too. - DirectorCraig GillespieStarsAnton YelchinColin FarrellDavid Tennant"Fright Night" - A new neighbor moves in next to Charley, who discovers that he is an ancient vampire who preys on the community. Can he save his neighborhood from the creature with the help of the famous "vampire killer", Peter Vincent?6
Good popcorn fun for when you are not in the mood to think. - DirectorTanya WexlerStarsMaggie GyllenhaalHugh DancyJonathan PryceThe truth of how Mortimer Granville devised the invention of the first vibrator in the name of medical science.7
An amusing story in the first place, this movie has all the basic elements of a good, light comedy. Will not disappoint if that is what you are looking for. - DirectorSteven SpielbergStarsJeremy IrvineEmily WatsonDavid ThewlisA young farm boy enlists to serve in World War I after his beloved horse is sold to the cavalry. His hopeful journey takes him out of England and onto the front lines as the war rages on.6
It is a good family movie. Still, i have to admit that i did expect more. Talking about 'horse' movies, i liked Secretariat better. - DirectorXiaogang FengStarsYou GeShu QiWei FanAfter making a killing, Fen returns to China a rich man. After seeking a wife on internet, he meets many women but only likes air hostess Liang/Shu Qi, who's in love with a married man and only wants friendship.8
A very nice surprise! Accidentally came across this movie and it turned out to be really great. Though it is beautifully filmed and played (main characters are uniquely great), i am not sure what exactly makes it stand out from other similar films for me, but it left me with the rare feeling of delight, i had, for example, after watching Juno or Breakfast at Tiffany's. - DirectorXiaogang FengStarsYou GeShu QiHonglei SunWealthy middle-aged entrepreneur Qin and beautiful flight attendant Xiaoxiao Liang question their relationship after presiding over good friends Mang Guo and Shan Li's lavish "divorce ceremony."7
Excellent sequel to the first movie. Continuing the same story, it is equally inspiring. At times fun, at times sad, these movies (both parts) leave you touched. - DirectorLouis LeterrierCorey YuenStarsJason StathamShu QiMatt SchulzeFrank Martin, who "transports" packages for unknown clients, is asked to move a package that soon begins moving, and complications arise.6
It has all the basic elements to be a great film, but it isn't. It is well filmed, has great action scenes, beautiful asian girl and reasonable plot. However, it is a PG13 rated film, which makes a lot of scenes look dull and illogical. Could have been a perfect action movie, if was rated R.
