Sobering, stylish and packed with terrific performances, it's unclear who 'Euphoria' is for, yet most everyone will find something to relate to.

Best Episode: "Stand Still Like the Hummingbird" (S2, E5) - DirectorAugustine FrizzellStarsZendayaMaude ApatowAngus CloudRue returns home from rehab and meets Jules; Nate and Maddy attempt to make each other jealous; Kat is pressured to lose something.9.0
Where 'Sex Education' idolises sex, 'Euphoria' demonises it. Showing the reality through a young minds lens, the show is grounded, often frightening and truly captures an addicts inner conflict. - DirectorSam LevinsonStarsZendayaMaude ApatowAngus CloudOn the first day of school, Rue struggles to put the past behind her; Nate's obsessions turn violent; Kat finds a video of her online.8.7
- DirectorSam LevinsonStarsZendayaMaude ApatowAngus CloudKat starts camming; Jules falls for a boy online; Rue is confronted about her lies at NA; Cassie and McKay spend the weekend at his college.8.9
Zendaya is outstanding, portraying the desperation of an addict to fulfil their urges devastatingly. Blending fantasy with the pursuit of a euphoric reality. - DirectorSam LevinsonStarsZendayaMaude ApatowAngus CloudRue, trying to get clean for Jules, chaperones Gia at the carnival; Kat misreads a situation; Jules encounters Cal; Nate reveals who he really is.9.1
This show is developing some really painfully complicated characters with expert precision. Demonstrates just how difficult a teenagers life can be, in case you forgot. One of my favourite scenes was so simple - showing just how easily an external perception of something innocent can be misinterpreted by your brain. A brain which believes to have your best interests at heart but doesn't realise its using your past traumas to define your future. Saying this is a fast paced episode would be an understatement - pandemonium is more accurate. - DirectorJennifer MorrisonStarsZendayaMaude ApatowAngus CloudIn the aftermath of the carnival, Maddy and Nate are forced to deal with a police investigation; Jules begins to feel pressured by her role in Rue's sobriety; Cal worries about his actions.8.8
Another empowering episode. Actually suggests that maybe some kids do know what they're doing - yet that privlige is taken away from them by those elder to them. Rebellion starts here - lessons for older viewers to listen to their kids and try to comprehend why as opposed to putting blind rules in place. The scenes with Jules realising the pressure of being that 'rock' presence in Rue's life is devestating. - DirectorPippa BiancoStarsZendayaMaude ApatowAngus CloudOn Halloween, Jules starts exhibiting concerning behavior; McKay questions his future in football; Cassie spends some time with Daniel; Kat continues to push Ethan away; Nate comes up with a plan.8.7
- 2019– 59mTV-MA8.4 (6.6K)TV EpisodeDirectorSam LevinsonStarsZendayaMaude ApatowAngus CloudRue falls into a depressive episode and binge-watches 22 episodes of a British reality show; Jules visits an old friend; Cassie looks for advice to help her deal with the fallout of Halloween night.8.9
I think the point of the show is to prove that EVERYONE has something going on in their lives - and you should respect that. A suitably depressing lesson in what depression is. - DirectorSam LevinsonStarsZendayaMaude ApatowAngus CloudIt's the winter formal at East Highland.8.6
A hard to follow structure adds to the intensity, but also manifests a frustration - feeling disjointed and a little muddled. Rue's decision is sad but the artsy finish that ensued was not for me. On the whole though, this debut season is one of the best I've seen - it's creativity and reality in tackling difficult subjects its defining badge of honour. Can't wait for it to return! - DirectorSam LevinsonStarsZendayaColman DomingoHunter SchaferAfter changing her mind to run away with Jules at the train station and relapsing, Rue celebrates Christmas.9.5
A resounding lesson in addiction as a disease - exactly how it should be considered. Zendaya, as ever, passionately portrays her lead with such empathy. It's so true, making the whole beautifully devastating experience of this episode all the more real. The shows most memorable screenplay, fully utilising the possibilities of a social distanced production. - DirectorSam LevinsonStarsZendayaHunter SchaferJacob ElordiOver the Christmas holiday, Jules reflects on the year.8.9
Further proof (as if you needed it) that you never truly know what's happening in anyone else's head. This show truly features some of the finest young actors of their generation - Schafer is phenomenal here as we realise a depth to her character that had only been hinted at - while also confirming it WAS a dream sequence - a bad one. It's paining to see someone not able to face their emotions - when you can also see the other side of it. If only that were the case in real life, it would stop heartbreak in its track on so many occasions. The fact that they made the NYC sequence a dream for Rue and a nightmare for Jules is heartbreakingly sad. - 2019– 1h 1mTV-MA9.1 (10K)TV EpisodeDirectorSam LevinsonStarsZendayaHunter SchaferAngus CloudRue and Jules cross paths for the first time since Christmas as East Highland rings in the new year.9.2
The most well earned beating I could imagine and a great way to start season two. Love the relationship developing with Lexi and Fez. Could feel every emotion between Jules and Rue. Another brilliant, tense, emotional spectacle of an hour. - DirectorSam LevinsonStarsZendayaHunter SchaferNika KingAs the semester kicks off, Jules questions Rue and Elliot's new friendship. The lines between fantasy and reality begin to blur as Kat consider her relationship.8.5
Rue has a new bad habit. - DirectorSam LevinsonStarsZendayaHunter SchaferNika KingMaddy considers getting back together with Nate, Rue pursues a new business venture as she helps to form a friendship between Jules and Elliot.9.1
What a great episode - it's jam packed from start to finish with intriguing backstory for Cal's unexplored and now empathetic past, not to mention its creativity and relatability in exploring Lexi's mind.
It's helping me develop an understanding of fluidity in a way I hadn't been able to respect before.
Rue's story is developing in a really intriguing way too, though devastating to watch unfold as she alienates herself from those who want the best for her, and perhaps unknowingly pushing others toward each other.... Elliot is awesome! I really hope Rue comes out of this clean - because it doesn't look good. - 2019– 1h 1mTV-MA8.4 (7.4K)TV EpisodeDirectorSam LevinsonStarsZendayaHunter SchaferEric DaneAt Maddy's birthday party, relationships are celebrated and questioned. Jules turns to Elliot for advice. Cal takes a trip down memory lane.8.6
Anxiety-inducing - an episode that at one stage seems fun, but consistently descends into something more sombre. It does feel as though its covering familiar ground in part and thus doesn't quite emote what it has done previously. I always hope for a happy resolution in this show - but nothing ever turns out that way. Cal's breakdown is the stand out part of the episode - holy shit he went off the rails. - DirectorSam LevinsonStarsZendayaHunter SchaferNika KingFate has a way of catching up with those who try to outrun it.9.7
Rue's intervention is as visceral as you'd expect - and more. If you can bare to watch all the way (through your fingers still counts) you will be horrified and tense in equal measure as she desperately burns all the bridges she had left.
It's a horrific picture of addiction and more specifically withdrawal - hitting the nail on its proverbial head with bipolar-esque episodes jumping from rage to self-pity, and most sickeningly when the addict in Rue chooses to be hurtful for the sake of it.
What makes this episode so incredible though is a cumulation of the events that led to its finale - but most importantly how it flipped what I had earlier perceived as a plot hole (giving Rue the suitcase) and making it the single most repulsive plot line since Breaking Bad's Walter White let Jesse's girlfriend drown in her own vomit. I genuinely thought as the episode neared its close that we were witnessing either Rue's death - or worse prostitution. By letting her live and escape the nauseating fate Laurie had seemingly been grooming her for all along - the show gives Rue a 2nd chance in what will be an enticing final few episodes.
Question is: how do you go back to high school drama after THAT. Probably one of the greatest dramatically intense episodes, of anything, of all time. I felt dirty after that episode. As if I'd somehow played a part in allowing it to come to this. - DirectorSam LevinsonStarsZendayaHunter SchaferNika KingAs relationships with mothers are tested, Rue tries to recover. Nate enjoys his newfound freedom.8.7
The acting is sublime - I love that they choose to explore the little intricacies of familial relationships. Nate and Maddy have such a terrifying relationship - Russian Roulette what the f**k! - DirectorSam LevinsonStarsZendayaHunter SchaferNika KingArt imitates life as the East Highland crew watches their complicated dynamics reflected in Lexi's long-awaited play.8.9
Holding up a mirror to her friends and family - Lexi's play is unexpectedly chaotic to the lives and characters of those closest to her. While it wains a little toward the end, the style of this episode is unquestionable, lending credence to the reality that Rue may just be telling everything from her, with glad eyes, memoric perspective. - 2019– 1h 1mTV-MA8.3 (7.1K)TV EpisodeDirectorSam LevinsonStarsZendayaHunter SchaferNika KingSnippets of memory collide with the present and future.8.6
A chaotic finale that is a little underwhelming, stretching reality and plot potency for cheap tension and a lack of direction. Although it ties off many loose ends, a lot is left unclear and to be desired. Though it was cheerful to see Rue reach a positive place I would never have imagined just a few episodes ago.
