A psychedelic trip which dares to dive the MCU into the unknowns of deity's and dissociative identities.
Season 1: ★★★★½
Best Episode: "Asylum" (S1, E5) - DirectorMohamed DiabStarsOscar IsaacEthan HawkeMay CalamawySocially awkward, amiable , "gift shop-ist" Steven Grant learns that he may share a body with a ruthless mercenary.8.8
As jarring as you would imagine it would be to have multiple personalities - 'Moon Knight' does a fantastic job making you question reality, with irrational dream-like sequences throughout. Distinct and exciting - with a phenomenal lead in Oscar Isaac. - DirectorJustin BensonAaron MoorheadStarsOscar IsaacEthan HawkeMay CalamawyWith little time to react, Steven is thrust into a war of the gods as a mysterious partner arrives.8.7
A complex layered performance from an incredible Oscar Isaac is the core of what makes this series work. Hawke's villain does a great job of drawing you in - though I want to understand his villainy more. The summoning of the suit (both of them) was epic - the character design is brilliant, it will surely be the top selling Halloween costume this year. Another solid ep to what has been an exciting series thus far. - DirectorMohamed DiabStarsOscar IsaacEthan HawkeMay CalamawyWith Marc in the forefront and Harrow ahead, Marc and Layla navigate Cairo for intel.8.3
Other than the core cast - the acting quality kinda lapsed here - as did the scripting with a forced, poorly considered trial by the gods (who clearly have their own agenda). The breath-taking, gargantuan visuals save what is certainly the shows least strong episode. - DirectorJustin BensonAaron MoorheadStarsOscar IsaacEthan HawkeMay CalamawyMarc and Steven must find balance as supernatural threats ahead look to stop them.9.1
Think 'Indiana Jones' meets 'The Descent'. An MCU first descent into horror territory (though with the brakes on a little to still resemble the MCU). Although there is still some cheap writing at points - just as you think it's unfolding rather generally - 'The Tomb' takes Moon Knight on a daring dive with a bold story turn that may just reframe the whole series. Wtf just happened. - DirectorMohamed DiabStarsOscar IsaacEthan HawkeMay CalamawyMarc and Steven search through their memories to find their truth or become left behind.9.1
No wonder he has a dissociative personality. A 'Legion' like follow up to the bold twist of 'The Tomb'. A psychedelic trip of an episode that belatedly develops depth and backstory behind our hero. I love these audacious trips the Disney+ shows are willing to go on. Oscar Isaac is phenomenal. The whole 'afterlife is subjective to what the individual believes' is perfect! - DirectorMohamed DiabStarsOscar IsaacEthan HawkeMay CalamawyAs Moon Knight joins the fray, Marc, Steven and Khonshu must work together to stop Ammit.8.6
This is not simply 'the MCUs Batman' - but the MCUs answer to Batman. A full circle finale that feels a little rushed (an additional episode or two would've helped) but which closes the opening chapter of Moon Knight on a satisfying note, even if it does forego some of its psychological edge for a CGI battle. Though that dark twist in the post credits goes some way to saving it. - 2021– 1h 7mTV-147.7 (379)TV EpisodeDirectorBrad BaruhStarsKevin FeigeBrad WinderbaumGrant CurtisJoin the likes of Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke as they reveal how Marvel Studios' Moon Knight was painstakingly brought to life.
