- The cinematographer is a sort of magician on the set. He takes expensive actors and enormous sets and using reflections of light and shadow, turns all the money into a dream - then that dream has to make money again.
- Every film is new, and starts from zero. The script is for me the most important element, because it makes me decide if I want to spend four to six months of my life doing extremely hard work. It has to make sense, not just money, and I don't want to be ashamed to show it to my children. It has to move me, excite me, grab me, challenge me, and bring me further. That's a lot.
