- Hubert Aquin was born on October 24, 1929 in Montréal, Québec, Canada. He was a producer and writer, known for Le sport et les hommes (1961), Jeudi-théâtre (1962) and Four Religions (1960). He died on March 15, 1977 in Montréal, Québec, Canada.
- His novel Prochain Épisode, titled Next Episode in the translation by Sheila Fischman, won the CBC Canada reads prize in 2003. One of the main buildings at Montréal's UQÀM university bears his name.
- Québécois intellectual, he was editor of 'Liberté' review and wrote many novels which reflected his implication in the Révolution tranquille and in the fight for Québec independence. He was the first author to refuse the Governor General's award for political reasons for 'Trou de mémoire ' He is the father of Emmanuel Aquin.
