“This is the perfect opportunity for us to make reality ‘real’ again,” says Peter Tierney, the commissioner who has spent the past two years overseeing ITV’s rebooted Big Brother.
Speaking as ITV prepares to become the third UK network to premiere the world-beating format, Tierney says his team have listened relentlessly to audiences “telling us that they want real, authentic reality.”
“They are aware of the way in which [some of] these shows are made, the directions you can push contestants in and the hands of the producer,” he adds. “But Big Brother presents us with the perfect opportunity to make reality ‘real’ again, providing a better opportunity for an environment that is conducive to real life than many other reality shows afford you.”

In the words of Davina McCall, “fancy another one”?
Shortly before announcing this year’s winners of “Love Island” on Monday night, U.K. broadcaster ITV2 caused goosebumps as they played out the iconic “Big Brother” theme tune while revealing that the iconic reality show is to return for a six-week run in 2023.
When you think about it, a “Big Brother” revival makes perfect sense. I mean, the show has been so significant to the history of British television, from redefining what it means to be a celebrity, to giving viewers the power through a public vote, that it hardly needs any introduction at all. Even though it hasn’t been on air for the past four years, after being ditched by Channel 5 in 2018, it’s hardly felt like it’s been off air at all thanks to the online generation frequently sharing memories of their favorite scenes (Craig Phillips...

The Seven Network is set to press ahead with its case against the Nine Network over new cooking show The Hotplate in a bid to protect Mkr's distribution rights in Australia and overseas.
The matter, in which Seven claims Nine is infringing Seven.s copyright in various original literary and dramatic works, will now go to a full hearing after Seven's application for an interlocutory injunction to restrain broadcast of series was refused.
Despite the failed bid to stop the current series going to air, Federal Court Justice John Nicholas said in his judgement that, "while While I am satisfied that Seven has a reasonably arguable case, I do not accept Seven.s submission that it has a strong prima facie case.
"The nature of the argument that Nine proposes to advance at trial, as I understand it, is that Seven.s dramatic work is a successful but nonetheless unimaginative...

Big Brother does love a twist, so this Friday three former housemates will be returning to join the 'fake evictee' in a Secret Lair. And goodness, did that spark some conversations at DS Towers about who should return!
Of course, some of our picks have been on Ultimate Big Brother, but we're going to ignore that (we're not sure it's canon when Ulrika Jonsson can be dubbed an 'ultimate' housemate, to be honest). And while there are obviously plenty of amazing contestants from years gone by, we couldn't choose them all. But below are just some of our choices for Friday's big twist - let us know who you want to throw back in!
Nick 'Nasty Nick' Bateman (Big Brother 1)

She has always been easy on the eyes, so it’s no wonder Op Swimwear recruited Hannah Davis for their fun and flirty Spring/Summer 2015 ads.
Joined by male model Nick Bateman, the 25-year-old Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover girl looks devastatingly beautiful in her photo spread, proving that she’s more than just a one-hit wonder.
Davis told press, “I’m from the islands so shooting on the beach in bikinis is like second nature to me. I like the one-piece funny enough. I like it cut a little higher on the leg, with cut-outs on the sides. I feel like I can move around more in one-pieces than in two-pieces.”...

In a few short hours, one of six housemates will go down in the Big Brother history books as the 15th winner of the show (alright, so it's not like they'll be studied in schools or anything, but it's something, right?). But where will they fit in the record? Will they be a worthy winner, or a disappointment? Will they be looked back on with glee or with grimaces?
That remains to be seen, but in the meantime we have 14 winners to rank. Who is the best? Who is the worst? We're not going to claim this is definitive - we switched our own minds around about 27 times just while compiling our running order - but take to the comments to give us your views. In case you don't remember from its tiny mention in Napoleon Dynamite, a bo staff is "basically a big ol' stick" used as "a kickass weapon" according to a very reliable source (hint: it's Urban Dictionary). In case you needed any other reason to think bo staffing is cool as fuh, we present to you: Nick Bateman. Bateman, beyond simply being a god amongst men, is a professional bo staffer, giving the sport way more street cred than it's ever had in the past. Or at least in our books. We may not have even heard of bo staffing if it weren't for Mr. Bateman. Now, we recognize the idea of a sexy bo staffer may present with it some ideas for inappropriate jokes. Let's keep...

The difficulty in counting down films so clearly influenced by Kubrick is that there are certain directors who are just tailor-made for it. So, you start to run into situations like this section of the list, where two directors have two films and two other directors had a film mentioned in the last section. But that’s the way it goes. Much of Kubrick’s style isn’t reflected in the work of, say, Todd Phillips. Or Todd Haynes, for that matter.
30. Inception (2010)
Directed by Christopher Nolan
What makes it Kubrickian? As directors go, few rival the sense of complete control over his films like Christopher Nolan, famous for his obsessive attention to detail, much like Kubrick. With Inception, Nolan dialed up the control, creating multiple worlds set within dream landscapes, painting incredibly stunning shots and moments. Focusing on Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his team of dream surveyors, Inception is...

We’ve been waiting all day and at 9.55pm this evening, this year’s first full length Big Brother promo aired on Channel 5.
It was like a who’s who of famous Bb faces from years gone by and we had quite a lot of fun spotting and naming some of our favourite (and also most annoying) housemates.
We have compiled most of them in a list below, though we know there are some names missing, so feel free to leave a comment below if you can identify any more.
The video starts out with Makosi on the phone and leads into various cast members dancing and miming to an adaptation of David Guetta’s popular dance track – When Love Takes Over renamed When Bruv Takes Over and at the end, as all the Bb stars gathered in what looked like a massive field, Marcus Bentley exclaimed:

It has been a big week for Big Brother UK fans!

The show will be making it’s return to it’s old home at Elstree Studios – just beside the local Tesco store – and it’s move between terrestrial channels will be marked by a celebrity packed series on August 18th, directly followed by a season of ‘classic’ Big Brother, featuring members of the public.
The new logo will be used for both series and will first appear on air from today in ‘teases’ during commercial breaks on Channel 5.

Brian Dowling has been confirmed as the presenter of Big Brother 2011.
The Irish star rose to fame when he won the second series of the reality TV show on Channel 4 and then last year, on what was supposed to be the last run of the show, he was crowned Ultimate Big Brother champion.
Nasty Nick Bateman broke the news of the 33 year old’s new job on Twitter today, writing:
“Well done Brian Dowling and good luck presenting the main show!! Sure 5 will make it work as it used too.”
The news was later confirmed by British newspaper The Daily Star.
Brian admitted last year that he would love to present the show but wasn’t sure he would be a popular enough choice.
And just last month he denied rumours that he was the chosen one, though it was later claimed that he was just playing his cards close to his chest.

In 2007, Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez decided to bring back the 1970′s with their homage to the glory days of cinema with their double feature, Grindhouse. It feature a movie directed by each man, Planet Terror directed by Rodriguez and Death Proof directed by Tarantino, with fake trailers before and between each movie. It didn’t do as well as some would have wanted at the box office, but it kick started a fad that was long overdue. Since then we’ve had an abundance amount of grindhouse type movies both in the theater and direct to DVD, culminating with Rodriguez’ hit Machete, which was one of the fake trailers seen before Planet Terror. There has been much talk about each of the other faux trailers being made into full length movies, but it was one that was made by a fan that became the next film. Tarantino and Rodriguez...

Victor Ebuwa has left Ultimate Big Brother, finishing in fourth place.
Victor followed Nick Bateman, Samuel Preston and Ulrika Jonsson as they left the house on tonight’s final Bb show.
The original “slick man” Victor was notoriously involved in the now infamous Fight Night during Big Brother 5, when he had a huge argument with fellow housemate Emma and was given a formal warning about his behavior.
However, since returning to this Ultimate series, Vic has been more laid back, more fun and developed a serious bromance with the once nasty but not quite nice Nick.
We had hoped that Victor would at least make the final two, but those spots are now reserved for Chantelle, Nikki or Brian.

Nick Bateman has left Ultimate Big Brother, finishing in fifth place.
He followed Preston and Ulrika, who were released to a cheering crowd just minutes before.
The 42 year old shot to fame during the first Big Brother series in 2000. He was removed from the house after thirty six days, after being exposed trying to manipulate fellow housemates’ votes in the weekly eviction process. After his exit, Nick became better known as ‘Nasty Nick’ and even released his own book with that title.
During Ultimate Big Brother, Nick has proved to actually be quite nice, if sometimes a little naughty. He was slightly more boring than we had hoped and certainly didn’t indulge in half as many mind games as he was once famous for. But he was there on the first day and he was there on the last and there is something quite fitting about that.

‘I’m rooting for you man, well obviously I’m rooting for myself too!’
‘But if I go before you, I will talk you up mate trust me. I don’t know if it will make any difference but I will talk you up, because I think you should be in the last two with Brian really.’
On how he thinks his other housemates should finish, Victor continued:
Nikki is real, she’s a good girl and I love her but she hasn’t been the Nikki that got her here. Some people have been too subdued. I’m not going to bad mouth Chantelle,...

Michelle Bass may not stand a chance of winning Ultimate Big Brother this Friday but she is in for a treat later this month anyway.
Bass’s fiancée Steve McKeown has admitted that he is keen to prove how much he loves the BB5 star and has planned a surprise wedding ceremony for the brunette beauty.
The hypnotherapist told new! magazine: “I’m a romantic. I thought this would be a great opportunity to show her I adore and love her.
“I want her to be whisked off her feet. I thought with her being a way for a couple of weeks, I could do something really special for her in a big way.”
Steve added: “It will be a big white wedding – the way Michelle wants it.”
“I imagine we’ll be inviting all of Michelle’s Ubb housemates and people like Lembit Opik, Katie Green and Michelle Heaton.

Ultimate Big Brother boys Preston and Victor have admitted that they’d like Nick Bateman to win the final series of the reality TV show.
Preston claimed that if the BB1 villain won the last ever show, it would be great “poetic justice”. He added that the public would agree with him saying:
“They want to move the story towards an ending. It’s just closure on a ten-year storyline and I think that makes it hilarious.”
After Nick insisted that many people would still bear a grudge against him, after he cheated ten years ago, Victor stated:
“If I was voting I’d vote based on what I was seeing over the last two, three weeks… see how the characters and people have moved on. I think you’ve done yourself justice mate.”
“Yeah, I really want you to win,” Preston agreed.

Channel 4 have just announced that Ubb housemates will be given a new task today.
Entitled ‘Flawed’, the housemates will be required to “create their own synchronized dance routine, inspired by dance act stars Flawless.
“They will become the dance act… Flawed!”
Members of Flawless will apparently “be on hand” to give the housemates a master class of their dance moves, as well as helping them to choreograph their routines…
The Flawless members will ask each housemate to audition in the task room to decide who will become the lead dancer.
In order to pass the task, the Ubb housemates must choreograph, practise and perform their routine in front of Flawless. If the dance group deems that the housemates have tried hard enough, they’ll pass the task.
If they do pass, they’ll be rewarded with a hamper of pampering products.

Today The Tree of Temptation set Victor a task to get his fellow housemates to say bitchy comments about each other and record it on a dictaphone.

And shortly Big Brother will deliver the wrath in the form of a tasting task…

The delightful dishes Victor faces are:
Fermented herring from Sweden
Fermented bean curd from China
Cow urine from India
1000 year old egg from China
Civet coffee from the Phillipines
Chicken feet from South Africa and China

This morning the Tree has reared his ugly drawers yet again and has set Victor a mission: to try and provoke his Housemates into bitching and snitching about each other.
The Tree has provided Victor with a dictaphone to help him record his Housemates’ comments, and he has one hour to do this. This time there is no reward, Victor is merely doing it for the love.

Makosi Musambasi has added weight to the claims that Big Brother covered up some of Coolio’s worst comments on Ultimate Bb.
Big Brother 5 star Marco Sabba took to an internet forum earlier tonight, to claim that Nadia Almada is close to suicide, due to insults made by Coolio and ignored by Big Brother.
He wrote:
It is most concerning that the public was misled in regards to the dispute with Coolio. He made deeply offensive, homophobic comments continuously to her and the other housemates regarding gender and sexuality for many days on end which were not broadcast. It was made to be seen that Coolio left the house after Nadia erratically confronted him about hiding her shoes. This was not the case. Coolio was on his third and final warning from Big Brother about abusive and threatening behaviour. By this point Nadia had suffered a panic attack and was mentally beginning to breakdown.

Ultimate Big Brother housemates Ulrika Jonsson and Nick Bateman shared a tender kiss last night.
The pair smooched at the end of their duet, ‘Endless Love’, which they sang as part of a Bb task. They performed the classic ballad, dressed in Lionel Richie and Diana Ross clothes and wigs, after nervously rehearsing in the bedroom all afternoon.
Ulrika previously sang the song with Verne Troyer during Celebrity Big Brother six and their video received more than 81,000 hit on the official show website. Ulrika and Nick’s version must receive more hits if they are to pass the task and after hearing Nick’s woeful vocals, we don’t think they have much chance of winning!

Ultimate Big Brother housemate Victor Ebuwa has warned his fellow housemates that he will go into “nuclear meltdown” if Nikki Grahame complains about his snoring tonight.
In the early hours of this morning, Nikki claimed that she could hear snoring coming from all directions and yelled at her sleeping friends before storming off to the diary room.
This morning she accused Nick Bateman of being a main offender, even though he claimed that he has never snored in his life. Michelle then told Nikki: “At one point, you went, ‘Nick!’ and he wasn’t even in the room.” Nikki looked embarrassed and apologised.
Victor told Michelle: “If it happens tonight, that’s it. I’ve waited long enough. If it happens tonight – nuclear meltdown!”
Michelle worried:
“I’m now worried about snoring because if I do, she’s going to get in my face about it. That’s more annoying than anyone actually snoring!

“That’s what we’ll talk about tomorrow anyway – the sex in the pool.”
Victor added: “I don’t have any problem with her.”
The pair then turned their attention to Ulrika Jonsson, claiming that she shouldn’t have been put into the house.
“I really liked her as a presenter but she is not a good housemate,” said Victor. “Not at this stage.”

Victor Ebuwa has admitted that he is about to start playing mind games on his fellow Ultimate Big Brother housemates.
The original “slick man,” Victor was the self proclaimed alpha male of Big Brother five and is best remembered for fight night with Emma Greenwood. After he moved from the bedsit to the main Ultimate Bb house yesterday, Ebuwa visited the diary room and told Big Brother that he thought he and Nasty Nick Bateman could reek havoc on the group.
He said:
“I’ve assumed the role of alpha male in the house, wasn’t exactly hard because there wasn’t one.
“I’m torn between having a good time and playing the game… I can’t help it part of me wants to get rid of people with underhand tactics… pick a few of these suckers off.”
Referring to Nick he added: “We really should be a dream team of game players.

Nick Bateman has expressed his disappointment over Coolio’s departure from Ultimate Big Brother.
The American rap star left the reality TV show, after and explosive row with Nadia Almada. The Portuguese trans-sexual told Big Brother that she would leave the show if Coolio stayed. Just a few hours later a statement was released saying:
“In agreement with Big Brother it has been mutually decided that in the best interest of the house, that Coolio should leave.”
Speaking about the move yesterday, Nasty Nick told new housemate Victor Ebuwa:
“I said, ‘I think it’s unfair that Coolio was sacrificed. I think that behaviour with the pillow case – if that was me I’d be out the door. Both of them [Coolio and Nadia] on that basis should have been out of the door’.”
Victor replied: “That is never gonna happen though, especially with me – Nadia was in my [series of 'Big Brother'], she was one of the favourite ones.

Victor is in the Bedsit Diary Room. He says he is optimistic about going into the house and says “there are a few ego’s that need adjusting in there”.

She says she feels a lot older than everyone, also feels like an outsider. Preston tells her that he doesn’t feel home sick at all, she replies that’s because you doesn’t have any children.
