- He is survived by his son, Bruce who lives near Parkfield and his daughter, Wendy of Carmel, California.
- He covered the Korean War for the San Francisco Chronicle and the French Foreign Legion troops to Indochina for the Associated Press. He also covered the Vietnam War.
- He joined the CBS Evening News in 1964 where he drew for the trials of Jack Ruby; Sirhan Sirhan; Chicago Seven in 1968; Lt. William L. Calley; Watergate hearings; and other famous cases as a courtroom sketch artist.
- He was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor for his military services during World War II.
- He enlisted in the United States Army during World War II where he was sent to the South Pacific as a combat artist and covered the final days of the Guadalcanal campaign. After the South Pacific, he was assigned to the European theater where he sketched his way through the troops through, France, Belgium, and Germany. His work was featured in Yank, an Army weekly magazine.
- He studied at the California School of Fine Arts by the San Francisco Examiner after winning a drawing contest. He later drew for the San Francisco Chronicle and Life Magazine.
