He became interested in puppetry as a child, when he read a World Book Encyclopedia article about puppets. He had mentorships with veteran puppeteers, and took his own marionette shows on the road when he was 14.
Puppetry is always thought of as for kids, and cute, little, soft, talking animals. And so I've spent the better part of two decades trying to wrest the form from that preconception.
