IN-motion boards Romero thriller
London-based IN-motion Pictures, owned and operated by Germany's IN-motion AG, has picked up international sales rights outside the United Kingdom and United States to director George A. Romero's The Ill, the company said Thursday. New York-based production and financing company P-Kino's Thierry Cagianut and Matthew Myers are producing the suspense thriller. Cagianut and U.S.-based producer Elliot Kastner will handle U.S. distribution rights to the thriller, while Cagianut will oversee U.K. sales. The movie is set at a British college gripped by a mysterious, deadly virus that breaks out shortly after a student suffers from horrific dreams. Philip Haydin Arnold wrote the script, based on an original idea by Romero, who made his name with several cult horror classics, including Dawn of the Dead, Night of the Living Dead and Creepshow. Currently casting, the movie is due to begin shooting at the beginning of September on location in the United Kingdom. No budget has been set as yet. IN-motion will be offering the film for sale to international territories at the Cannes Market. IN-motion Pictures earlier this year sold its stake in Kirk D'Amico's Myriad Pictures as part of an extensive program of restructuring.
