Tom Cruise remains on top after all these years. Top Gun: Maverick earned nearly 1.5 billion at the box office, and scored six Oscar nominations, including Best Picture. But as great as his recent film work has been, some think most of his links to Scientology. Cruise is synonymous with the controversial religion now, but it was his first wife, Mimi Rogers, who introduced him to the church. The couple eventually divorced, and Rogers left Scientology for good. Like most stories related to the church, the story behind their split is strange and full of unconfirmed rumors.

Cruise and Rogers started dating in 1985. In hindsight, it was probably a red flag that the pair couldn’t even agree on how they first met.

Tom Cruise and Penélope Cruz will marry soon, according to his first wife, actress Mimi Rogers. The 45-year-old actress married Cruise in 1987, before divorcing in 1990, and has been less than complementary about her former spouse. And Rogers is sure Tom and Penelope - who met when co-starring in Vanilla Sky last year - will tie the knot before long. At a recent Los Angeles party, Mimi, who has been living with producer Chris Ciaffa since she split from Cruise, was heard telling a pal, "Knowing Tom, it will be sooner than later."...

Tom Cruise took his pregnant former wife Mimi Rogers to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation event on Sunday in Los Angeles. Tom and the incredibly sexy Mimi weren't friendly after their break-up. She posed nude for Playboy and said that they split up because Cruise "wanted to maintain the purity of his instrument". Mimi, 49, has a daughter, age 6, with her longtime love, producer Chris Ciaffa, and expects a second child in August. Following the event, Tom went to Stone Canyon Road alone to the luxury hotel he calls home these days.
