After announcing his plans for the DC Studios as Co-CEO, James Gunn has been incredibly busy exacting his vision of DC’s marvellous world from the comics. While some fans are still on the fence about some of the decisions made by Gunn and David Zaslav (Warner Bros. Discovery CEO), most of the audience is eager to watch the new Dceu with Gunn as its Kevin Feige. 2024 will be the beginning of Gunn’s Dceu as the first project from his upcoming DC universe will come out this year, but while it is a beginning of sorts, the real kick-off point will be the Superman: Legacy film coming out next year, which Gunn wrote and directed himself. In this article we are talking about every DC project coming out in 2024 under Gunn as the Co-CEO of DC Studios.

Conspiracy theorists, have we got the show for you!
A new reality series called “Flat Earthers” will pay its players cash if they can convince a panel of (actual) experts that the world is flat. Good luck with that.
IndieWire can exclusively reveal that the recently launched streaming service The Network is in active production on “Flat Earthers” and will launch all 10 episodes this December.
“Flat Earthers” is described as part docuseries, part competition show, and it will follow five families who each genuinely believe the Earth is flat. But rather than just document their exploits, the families will each be given $50,000 worth of resources for research and will ultimately present their findings to a panel of scientists, theologians, and cartographers. If they can convince a majority of the panelists that the Earth is in fact flat, they’ll be awarded a cash prize. The amount of the cash prize was not disclosed.

Steve Coogan’s 2022 film about the search for King Richard III’s remains was defamatory to a man portrayed by actor Lee Ingleby, a UK High Court judge has ruled.
Richard Taylor, a former employee at the University of Leicester, is suing the producers of The Lost King, including Coogan, his production company Baby Cow, and distributor Pathe.
Taylor was awarded a preliminary judgment in his favor on Friday, meaning his case can proceed to a full trial, during which Coogan, BBC Studios-owned Baby Cow, and Pathe will defend the portrayal.
Written by Coogan and Jeff Pope, The Lost King depicted Phillipa Langley’s (Sally Hawkins) search to find the controversial king’s skeleton under a car park in Leicester.
Taylor argued that he was painted as being “devious” in “manipulating the public presentation of information about the find, so as unjustly to conceal Philippa Langley’s true role,...

Exclusive: Will this lady be for turning?
Succession star Harriet Walter is taking on Maggie Thatcher in splashy Channel 4 drama series Brian and Margaret, which is being directed by Stephen Frears, penned by James Graham and co-starring Steve Coogan. Coogan’s BBC Studios-backed Baby Cow is producing.
Unveiled with three weeks until the general election, the two-parter is a dramatization of the story behind and occasion of Thatcher’s last TV interview, the hugely damaging ITV grilling by her old friend Brian Walden (Coogan), which some view as the final nail in her prime ministerial coffin.
The pair were cosy in the run up to the interview and had faced each other before on the small screen but Walden – who was one of the most feared political interviewers of his day – struck several blows particularly with a line of questioning about the recent resignation of Thatcher’s chancellor,...

Seven years have passed since the last “Despicable Me” movie, and the only thing that’s changed in Gru’s world is the addition of another child, Gru Jr., who’s the spitting image of his dad: hook nose, shifty eyes, squatty head — just with slightly more hair. The addition of a biological son to a family of three adopted daughters (not to mention a platoon of unmanageable Minions) would be plot enough for “Despicable Me 4,” but whatever drama the new kid might cause goes underexamined in Illumination’s overstuffed sequel. At times, it feels less like a feature than a collection of Looney Tunes-y shorts piled one on top of another.

Despicable Me 4 got the crowd going bananas over big moments at its French premiere during the Annecy Animation Festival.
Director Chris Renaud and co-director Patrick Delage took the stage Thursday to introduce the latest installment in Universal Pictures’ popular film series. The franchise is clearly special to the nation; Delage is a French filmmaker, as is Pierre Coffin, who directed 2010’s initial Despicable Me movie with Renaud and continues to voice the mischievous Minions.
“I’m actually here thinking I’m hoping I don’t get emotional,” Renaud told the attendees. “About 14 years ago, my introduction to Annecy was premiering a film called Despicable Me, and the reaction Pierre Coffin, the other director, and I got in this room is something I’ll never forget and something I carry with me to this day. There's less than a month to go until Despicable Me 4 arrives in theaters, and Illumination has released a new promo which takes a shot of Black Adam star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Warner Bros.' tax write-offs, and the MCU.
The pro wrestler and actor vowed to change the "hierarchy of power" in the DC Extended Universe with the 2022 movie, only for it to flop at the box office and bomb with critics and fans alike. From there, Johnson's plans to take over the franchise failed and he was promptly ousted when James Gunn and Peter Safran took charge of DC Studios.
As for the 100-year slate of "Mega Minions" movies, it's a tongue-in-cheek dig at Marvel Studios and its habit of revealing slates of movies and TV shows years before they're released.
It's all meant in good fun, though we're sure Johnson doesn't appreciate being made fun of in this way.

Oliver Hardy became a Hollywood legend after pairing up with Stan Laurel to form the comedic duo Laurel and Hardy. Together, the pair produced 79 shorts and 27 features. Yet how many of those titles are classics? Let’s take a look back at 10 of Laurel and Hardy’s best feature films, ranked worst to best.
Laurel and Hardy were already established comedians in their own right before they teamed up for a series of shorts produced by Hal Roach (of “The Little Rascals” fame). One of their most famous, “The Music Box” (1934), won the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short (Comedy).
Their first official foray into features was a cameo appearance in “The Hollywood Revue of 1929” (1929), a musical variety meant to introduce MGM’s silent movie stars to sound. (It’s a sign of the times that this plotless hodgepodge managed to snag an Oscar nomination for Best Picture.) Just two year later,...

I can’t help admiring the sheer audacity of Aram Rappaport. He’s the creator, writer and director behind “The Green Veil,” a drama series starring John Leguizamo that debuted with two episodes at the Tribeca fest in 2022. When he couldn’t find an outlet to pick up the full series, Rappaport decided to launch his own ad-supported streaming service — dubbed The Network — from scratch.
Set in the 1950s, “The Green Veil” takes on the history of oppression in America — and in particular, atrocities committed against the Indigenous community. Leguizamo plays a brutal FBI agent, and Rappaport believes the nature of the story was “something that’s just very hard to be greenlit anywhere else just because of the subject matter. So I feel like this is a perfect drama for us to launch with, and make a statement about what we’re trying to do with a platform like this.

Filming Underway On New Alan Partridge BBC Series
Filming is underway on new Alan Partridge mockumentary And Did Those Feet. Deadline revealed the BBC series several months back and cameras have rolled on the latest Steve Coogan conception. The mockumentary follows the beloved comedy creation settling into life back in his Norfolk home after a year working in Saudi Arabia, but the adjustment has left him with a deep sense of unease. Over six episodes he will unpack what is missing in his life, explore why the nation is in such a funk and find out what it might take to keep a person funk-free. “This look into the state of the nation (and Alan’s own psyche) through a unique lens – that of Alan Partridge – promises to further bolster the already iconic repertoire of the most legendary comedy character in the UK,” said BBC comedy boss Jon Petrie. Steve Coogan is back as Alan Partridge, for the new BBC show And Did Those Feet… with Alan Partridge. More details here.
Steve Coogan is back in the guise of Alan Partridge, for a brand new BBC series that’s now officially started shooting. As revealed earlier this year, the show is a documentary series called And Did Those Feet… with Alan Partridge. It’s a six-part series, and filming got underway last week in the south of England.
The BBC has confirmed that the show is before the cameras, and released some fresh information about it too. Don’t read on if you don’t want to know anything about it, he says, stating the bleedin’ obvious.

Alan Partridge is officially back as evidenced by a new first look image from his upcoming BBC documentary “And Did Those Feet… with Alan Partridge.”
Filming has officially commenced on the show, in which comedian Steve Coogan (who was twice nominated for Oscars his work on 2013 comedy-drama “Philomena”) reprises his role as the hapless interviewer.
The six-part mockumentary follows Partridge as he returns to Norfolk following a year in Saudi Arabia and struggles to reintegrate.
“One of the first – if not the first – documentary to address the issue of mental wellness, the six-part series follows the revered and beloved broadcaster on a quest to understand what’s going on, with Britain’s minds and his own,” reads the official logline. “It’s a show that makes a statement that will create shockwaves: ‘I’m Alan Partridge, and I’m not Ok.’ Partridge will write, present and produce the series. He will also direct the series.

Originally conceived as a standalone film without sequels, ‘Joker’ (2019) was intended to inaugurate DC Black, a series of darker and more experimental films distinct from the DC Extended Universe. Despite this, director Todd Phillips expressed interest in a sequel.
By November 2019, the sequel was officially confirmed to be in development. In 2023, Gunn confirmed that ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ would not be part of the mainline Dcu; instead, it would be released under the ‘Elseworlds’ label, aligning with Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman’ franchise.
The cast of the upcoming ‘Joker’ is set, with Joaquin Phoenix portraying Arthur Fleck, also known as The Joker, a mentally troubled criminal with a clown-inspired persona. Lady Gaga takes on the role of Harleen Quinzel, aka Harley Quinn, an asylum inmate who becomes fixated on Arthur. Zazie Beetz plays Sophie Dumond, Arthur’s former neighbor, and a single mother. Joaquin Phoenix is coming back soon as Arthur Fleck in Joker: Folie à Deux. While it won’t be the first superhero musical, it certainly is one of its kind in recent years. Starring Lady Gaga as Harleen Quinzel, a.k.a. Harley Quinn, the movie is expected to be filled with several memorable scenes, both entertaining and grotesque, apart from several songs.
Joker 2 promises a crazy ride with the two characters
Apart from the two titular characters and actors, the British-Irish comedian and actor, Steve Coogan is also included in Joker 2’s ensemble cast. And those who know the violent ending of Joker will figure out what Coogan’s teased scene from the upcoming movie might feature.

After a disastrous 2023 for the DC brand, Warner Bros. hopes to deliver at least one hit comic book movie this year with Joker: Folie à Deux.
2019's Joker grossed over $1 billion on a modest $55 million budget. However, with reports swirling that the sequel cost upwards of $200 million, the studio will surely be hoping it hasn't allowed filmmaker Todd Phillips to indulge too much with this follow-up. After all, musicals are a tough sell at the best of times and comic book adaptations have struggled greatly post-covid.
We'll see what happens, but when the first teaser trailer dropped last month, one of the biggest surprises was an appearance from British actor and filmmaker Steve Coogan.
Best known in the UK for portraying comedy icon Alan Partridge, his film and television credits include Hot Fuzz, Tropic Thunder, Minions, the Night at the Museum franchise, Happyish, and The Reckoning.

Awards season may well be over for another year in the world of film, with the Oscars, BAFTAs, and Golden Globes just a distant memory now. But on Sunday evening, one of the biggest nights in British TV, the BAFTA TV Awards — this year hosted by comedians Rob Beckett and Ramesh Ranganathan — took place at London’s Royal Festival Hall. And on a night where the two most nominated shows, Black Mirror and The Crown, failed to snag a single win, Happy Valley, Top Boy, and The Sixth Commandment enjoyed great success in key categories, each taking home two awards apiece.
On the night, Sarah Lancashire won Leading Actress for her all-timer of a turn as police sergeant Catherine Cawood in Happy Valley, her second BAFTA for the same role. The show also snagged the public-voted Memorable Moment award for Catherine and Tommy Lee Royce’s (James Norton) remarkable final kitchen showdown.

Updated with complete winners list: Despite being up for four acting category awards, The Crown‘s final season left the BAFTA TV Awards empty handed tonight in London.
Elizabeth Debicki, Lesley Manville, Salim Daw and Dominic West were all snubbed, as the the likes of Matthew Macfadyen, Jasmine Jobson, Timothy Spall and Sarah Lancashire all triumphed and the Netflix show went out quietly.
There was also a major surprise in the International category, where little-known French drama Class Act beat the likes of Beef, The Bear and The Last of Us to win the prize. Among the most shocked was the show’s star Laurent Lafitte, who urged the audience to find and watch his show — to the amusement of the audience.

Timothy Spall has won the BAFTA TV Award for Leading Actor this evening, beating out top-name competition.
Spall emerged as the winner ahead of Brian Cox for Succession, Dominic West for The Crown, Kane Robinson for Top Boy, Papa Essiedu for The Lazarus Project and Steve Coogan for The Reckoning.
Lashana Lynch presented the British actor with the prize.
His win meant The Crown went home empty-handed despite being up for four acting awards and a number of others.
In true-crime drama The Sixth Commandment, from Wild Mercury Productions and True Vision Productions, aired on BBC1 last July in the UK. It starred Spall as university lecturer, Peter Farquhar, who was manipulated and eventually murdered by his former student and lodger, Ben Field, who was played by Éanna Hardwicke, nominated earlier today in the Best Supporting Actor category.

Netflix drama Top Boy has beaten off competition from Apple TV+’s Slow Horses to win Best Drama Series at the BAFTA TV Awards.
Also competing in the category were the BBC’s Happy Valley and The Gold, but Top Boy walked away with its second award of the night. Earlier in the evening, Jasmine Jobson walked away with a Best Supporting Actress win.
Top Boy, written by Ronan Bennett stars Ashley Walters as drug kingpin Dushane and Kane Robinson as his on-off business partner. The ambitious pair lead a drug operation in an east London council estate. Robinson is shortly up for a Best Actor award for the likes of Brian Cox for Succession, Dominic West for The Crown and Steve Coogan for The Reckoning.

The second half of the British Emmys — the BAFTA TV Awards — are about to kick off. The first segment took place at the end of April when the BAFTA TV Craft Awards gave out gongs for below-the-line artists nominated for their work in this year’s best TV shows. Now, the main ceremony is taking place. This one is where all the big stars rock up as the acting categories are presented tonight in what is a live, televised ceremony broadcast from the Royal Festival Hall on London’s South Bank.

Sitcom Such Brave Girls claimed best scripted comedy.
Notably, The Crown and Black Mirror missed out despite leading the nominations ahead of the awards show with eight and seven, respectively, and in...

As far as modern animated franchises go, Despicable Me is undoubtedly one of the best-known and most lucrative ones in history. It all began in 2010 and now, 14 years later, we have three main movies, two spin-off prequels, numerous shorts, and an upcoming fourth movie, Despicable Me 4, which is set to be released in theaters on July 3, 2024. Now, the premiere is not that far away, so we already know a lot about the upcoming movie, but Illumination has today blessed us with yet another trailer, which you will be able to see below!
The Despicable Me series focuses on the villain Gru and his henchmen, the Minions; Gru initially aims to become the world’s most feared villain, but his story changes as he encounters three orphan girls named Margo, Edith, and Agnes, who soon become his adopted daughters and change his plans. The Despicable Me movies always do very well at the box office (even if the reviews haven't remained quite as positive), so it came as no surprise that a fourth instalment in Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment's animated franchise was on the way, and a new trailer and poster have now been released.
Though Gru will appear, the Minions have really become the main focus of these movies, and there's plenty of fun to be had with the little yellow fellas in this latest teaser, which sees several "volunteers" transformed into super-powered Mega-Minions.
One gains stretchy abilities like Mr. Fantastic, another is a clear not to The Thing, and there's also a Minion with Cyclops-like optic blasts.
Check out the new trailer and poster below, and let us know if you plan on catching this one on the big screen.

Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment have released the final trailer (we think?) for the latest entry in the Despicable Me series, Despicable Me 4, premiering in July.
With the release of The Fall Guy last week, summer blockbuster season has officially arrived, which means lots of eyes are looking at the year’s biggest and splashiest projects and watching how they perform commercially. One such set of eyes will be those of Universal Pictures, who will be keen to retain its crown as the studio that grossed the most money last year and as such, the performance of its biggest movies will play a key role.
Whilst the jury is still out on whether The Fall Guy will be numbered among its successes, hopes will be high that Despicable Me 4 – set to release in July – will be a strong addition to Universal’s balance sheet. After all, 2022’s Minions: The Rise of Gru...

The Minions are going Marvel for Illumination‘s Despicable Me 4 by getting the Super Soldier treatment in a new trailer! It’s been roughly two years since Minions: The Rise of Gru, and younger generations are clamoring for more outlandish antics from Gru’s pill-shaped helpers with a penchant for madness. The new film introduces another addition to the chaotic-good family, with Gru and Lucy welcoming a son. He’s a mama’s boy through and through, but that won’t keep Gru from vying for his love and adoration.
Despicable Me 4 finds Steve Carell reprising his role as the reformed villain Gru. Throughout the Despicable Me series of films, Gru has left a life of villainy behind in favor of becoming a father, husband, and secret agent. Of course, Gru’s hapless yet helpful helpers, the Minions, will also return in the sequel. Kristen Wiig, Pierre Coffin,...

Vin Diesel is set to enter production on Riddick: Furya, the anticipated fourth installment of the Riddick franchise, on August 26.
Shooting in Germany, Spain and the U.K., this follow-up to the sci-fi films Pitch Black (2000), The Chronicles of Riddick (2004) and Riddick (2013) reunites Diesel with writer-director David Twohy. Diesel reprises his role as the anti-hero Richard B. Riddick, a dangerous escaped convict wanted by every bounty hunter in the galaxy.
In Riddick: Furya, Riddick finally returns to his home world, a place he barely remembers and one he fears might be left in ruins. But there he finds other Furyans fighting for their existence against a new monster. And some of these Furyans are more like Riddick than he could have ever imagined.
Diesel will produce for One Race Films, alongside Samantha Vincent. Thorsten Schumacher for Rocket Science and Lars Sylvest for Thank You Studios will also produce alongside Joe Neurauter.

Cinema is replete with all kinds of onscreen deaths, including the unforeseen ones, which serve either to terrify the unexpecting audience or for comic relief. Sometimes even when everything seems safe and quiet, the filmmakers kill their characters all of a sudden to our shock.
Here are 5 of the most unforgettable examples of such deaths, chosen by Redditors. Heavy spoiler alert, obviously!
1.The Departed (2006) - Billy (Leonardo DiCaprio)
Presumably, this one comes first to mind when we’re talking about jaw-dropping movie killings. The thriller’s finale promised a fair ending when DiCaprio’s character catches Matt Damon’s bad guy Colin and prepares to bring justice to him, but he gets suddenly shot by Colin’s friend with his brains left on the back of the elevator wall.
2. The Big Lebowski (1998) - Donny (Steve Buscemi)
Even the Donny actor confessed that this very onscreen demise is his favorite one.
