A troubled teenage girl runs away to Mexico after her mother passes away, to find the father that she has never known. She discovers him there, penniless, where they learn that a family can be put back together, even if all they have are the missing pieces. Exclusive: Gravitas Ventures, an Anthem Sports & Entertainment Company, has acquired U.S. distribution rights to drama Gringa a film by Ej Foerster and Marny Eng. Starring Steve Zahn, Jess Gabor, Roselyn Sanchez, Jorge A. Jimenez, Valentina Buzzurro, Nico Bracewell, and Judy Greer and produced by Ej Foerster, Eric Hedayat, Marny Eng, and Eric Reid. Mickey Rourke is joining the cast of action movie “Section Eight.” Sales agent The Exchange is introducing the movie to international buyers during the virtual American Film Market, which wraps Friday.
The cast also includes actors Dolph Lundgren, Scott Adkins, Ryan Kwanten, Dermot Mulroney, and Blue October’s lead singer Justin Furstenfeld, as previously announced.
The movie is the story of a former soldier who, after avenging the murder of his family, is sprung from prison and recruited by a shadowy government agency.
It will be directed by Christian Sesma, working from an original screenplay by Chad Law and Josh Ridgway. It is produced by Brandon Burrows of Firebrand.
Rourke’s many credits include “The Wrestler,” for which he was Oscar nominated, “Sin City,” “Angel Heart” and “Iron Man 2.” “Mickey’s raw energy and unique style are such a great addition to ‘Section Eight,’ ” Burrows said.

Exclusive: Fledgling La-based sales and production outfit Clear Horizon has appointed former Cmg, Epic Pictures and Bleiberg sales exec Giulia Prenna as president of sales and production.
As we revealed during Cannes, the company has been launched by independent producer David Brown, an executive producer on Sundance opener After The Wedding. Reporting to Brown, Prenna will lead the sales push at upcoming festivals and markets including Tiff and Afm.
