- Silent screen actress, a child performer in vaudeville from the age of seven, performing in a song and dance act with her brother. On the prompting of her friend Lita Grey, she was chosen by Charles Chaplin as his leading lady for The Circus (1928). Retired from acting in 1934 to marry choreographer/director Busby Berkeley. Died ten years later of a heart attack, aged just 36.
