The Project: Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Panel: Jeph Loeb, Elizabeth Henstridge, Iain De Caestecker
Footage screened: As the head of Marvel Television, Loeb previews never-before-seen moments from the show, making him the ideal person to present the upcoming episode set to air next Tuesday. (Watch a clip below.) Loeb, Henstridge, and De Caestecker joined the crowd to watch the episode before returning to the stage for more audience questions. The episode, titled “Eye-Spy,” centers on the team tracking a thief — who happens to be a rogue S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. No surprise: A spy’s eye is involved.

So awesome, universe! The world hasn’t been full enough yet of movies about women who are almost totally obsessed almost exclusively with romance that we cannot use one more of them. Hoorah! Thank you, creative powers that be, for giving us New Yorker Lola (Greta Gerwig: Arthur), whose life is powered by faux random hipster crap -- macrobiotics! “I always forget that Times Square exists”! -- and sexual despair. Sure, Lola may be insecure, shallow, and stupid (what’s that? she’s working on a dissertation about 19th century French literature? that’s cute! she gets to play with her laptop sometimes), but that makes her Everywoman, amirite, ladies? Lol! Except most of us are not fabulous enough to have a lady best friend who’s outrageously crude, like Lola’s pal Alice (cowriter Zoe Lister Jones: The Other Guys) with her random “I have to do wash my vagina,...

Last week's Gossip Girl was one of the best episodes of the fifth season, mostly because it featured the gang urgently but humorously scheming together like old times, but also due to the bombshell in the closing moments.
The question was whether "The Fugitives" would build upon "Raiders of the Lost Art" and generate serious momentum heading into the season finale, or sweep everything under the rug in 2-3 lines of dialogue.
With Gossip Girl, you never know anymore, but despite a couple of plot holes bigger than the ones on Serena's top, tonight was by and large a success, keeping us on our toes and setting the stage for next Monday.
The biggest difference between tonight and the aftermath of the 100th episode, when Georgina was revealed as Gossip Girl, only to later unmasked as a mere stand-in, is the far-reaching consequences for the characters.

Well 2010 is almost over and it’s time for my obligatory Top Ten of the year. As with last year I’ll be compiling two movie Top 10’s – one cinematic releases and one direct to DVD list. Why? Well the majority of movie sites and blogs give credence to all the big releases of the year but, as I try to do all year, I want to highlight some films which you might have missed that you really should hunt down and watch.
This list is completely subjective, and you may not agree with any or all of my choices or the order in which they appear. Either way I’d love to read your thoughts on my choices good or bad, so don’t forget to leave a comment. Anyway, onto the list:
10) Hunt to Kill
Jim Rhodes (“Stone Cold” Steve Austin) is one bad ass Border Patrol Agent.

A frankly Superb new TV spot called “Horror Princess” has been released for my favourite horror film of 2010 – Aussie horror movie The Loved Ones.
The film – which has been dubbed “Pretty In Pink meets Wolf Creek” – comes from writer/director Sean Byrne and stars Robin McLeavy, Xavier Samuel, Victoria Thaine, Richard Wilson and Jessica McNamee.
Teenager Brent is given over to depression and fits of self-mutilation after being behind the wheel for a car accident that killed his own father. That the accident was not at all Brent’s fault—he swerved to avoid a bloodied and beaten man who stumbled into the path of his car—does not seem to matter. His home, now reduced to just Brent and his mother, is a dry and muted place filled with nothing but guilt and quiet despair. The only bright point in Brent’s life at all is Holly, his beautiful and vibrant girlfriend,...

And there’s the problem. You see, Brent has also caught the eye of Lola, the awkward school loner. And while Lola may fade in to the background at school,...

The Loved Ones
Stars: Xavier Samuel, Robin McLeavy, John Brumpton, Victoria Thaine | Written and Directed by Sean Byrne
Described as Pretty in Pink meets Wolf Creek, The Loved Ones follows teenager Brent (Samuel), who’s life is a vicious circle of depression and self-mutilation after being behind the wheel in a car accident that killed his father. The only high point in Brent’s life is his beautiful girlfriend Holly (Haig), the only person with any chance at pulling Brent out of his depression and who is, of course, his date for the end of year prom. However there’s a problem – Brent has also caught the eye of Lola (McLeavy), the awkward school loner.
Now while Lola may fade in to the background at school, Lola is used to getting what she wants at home, and more than willing to employ any means necessary to get it. So when...

Set to play the Fantasia Festival in Montreal this month and FightFest in August, The Loved Ones is a new Australian horror film starring Robin McLeavy and Xavier Samuel (of Twilight fame).
You can check out the trailer embedded below but be warned it looks like it might be pretty heavy on spoilers.
I think this looks like it might be quite promising with its mix of horror and comedy and I’m looking forward to getting the opportunity to check it out.
