In the two days that veteran photographer David McClister spent with Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real in Nashville, the band headlined Nashville’s legendary Ryman Auditorium for the first time, and opened for the Who at the much larger Bridgestone Arena just down the street. “It was one of the highlights in all of our lives,” says Nelson, 30, of playing on the same bill as the Who. “I think that we’re going to be able to do a lot more with them.”

Nashville space-country duo Steelism took a trip to the desert of northern New Mexico to film the new video for “Re-Member,” an instrumental track from the group’s latest album Ism. The vast open terrain provides the perfect setting to visually capture the song’s exploratory, psych-twang soundscapes, as guitarist Jeremy Fetzer and pedal steel wiz Spencer Cullum Jr. weave together emotive passages with dramatic sections of tension and release.
“We knew ‘Re-Member’ needed a video where the visual landscape matched the sonic landscape, so we reached out to director David McClister,...

Loretta Lynn has been away from the spotlight since suffering some serious health setbacks in the last year and a half, including a stroke and a broken hip. “I had to focus on my health and decided to hold up the release,” Lynn, 86, wrote in August, explaining why she was delaying her new album. “It’s been a tough year.” So it’s great to see Lynn singing again in the video for “Ain’t No Time to Go,” off her new album Wouldn’t It Be Great, which is out September 26th.

The nD Festival, which brings together film, fashion and music, held its fashion show this week at the Belcourt Theater in Nashville. (Here’s a report from photographer Heidi Jewell.) The fest benefits the theater, and at the show short films by James Clauer, Kristin Barlowe and David McClister were shown. Each featured the work of one designer, and all three can be seen here. Embedded below is Clauer’s, a psychodramatic trip to the carnival outfitted by Steven Alan. Some of you will remember Clauer’s striking short, Aluminum Fowl, and his work on Big River Man. Reportedly, Clauer’s debut feature, When the World’s on Fire, is on the horizon.
