Before Marvel fans will see Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark again in "The Avengers: Age of Ultron," they'll get to spend some time with his dad, Howard Stark. Dominic Cooper has signed on to reprise his role as the the inventor father of Tony "Iron Man" Stark in ABC's upcoming "Agent Carter," starring Hayley Atwell. The news was announced on Marvel's official site. Cooper first played the senior Stark in 2011's "Captain America: The First Avenger," and reprised the role in 2013's "Marvel One Shot: Agent Carter." As seen in "The First Avenger," Stark was involved with the supersoldier project which created Captain America, and later went on to play a key role in the founding of S.H.I.E.L.D. "Carter" takes place just after WWII. Atwell recently popped up in a flashback scene on "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," so it's not out of the question for...

Here’s some good news for everyone looking forward to Marvel’s Agent Carter series. The studio’s second foray into primetime television looks really promising — it’s a kicky period piece with some great talent attached to it — but we don’t actually know much about it. They didn’t shoot a pilot (the Agent Carter Marvel One-Shot stood in for that), and as of San Diego Comic-Con, they hadn’t written any scripts. All we really know is that Hayley Atwell is returning to the role, and it is set in the immediate aftermath of World War 2 (and Steve Rogers' "death") and focuses on the early days of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the titular agent’s struggles as a badass woman in a male-dominated industry.
But today Marvel has made two casting announcements, one fantastic, and one kind of meh. On the fantastic front,...

Welcome to the 5th Annual Pajiba Ten: A list of the 10 Most Bangable Celebrities on the Planet as voted on by our readers. Thanks to new rules which elevate celebrities who have been on the list at list twice into the Pajiba 10 Hall of Fame, we actually have seven new entrants onto the 10 in our 5th year. That's fresh blood, folks, for your drooling pleasure. It's also the first year in which four women made this list, instead of the usual three.
If you're curious, there are quite a few who just missed the cut this year, including Rachel McAdams, Marion Cotillard, Benedict Cumberbatch, Donald Glover, and -- sadly -- there is no "Doctor Who" representation this year as our worst fears were confirmed: David Tennant and Matt Smith split the vote, while Karen Gillan simply annoyed too many of you in her latest "Who" run to merit the votes necessary.

In an interview with The New Yorker that ran in October 2001, a month after she died, renowned film critic Pauline Kael said: "I still don't look at movies twice. It's funny, I just feel I got it the first time. With music it's different. People respond so differently to the whole issue of seeing a movie many times. I'm astonished when I talk to really good critics, who know their stuff and will see a film eight or ten or twelve times. I don't see how they can do it without hating the movie. I would." That kind of brash commitment is typical of Kael, but though she was a fantastic critic, the sentiment's a remarkably myopic one. Many times, it's possible to see a film and know that you "got it the first time," but any critic can only ever bring their current experience, knowledge, and understanding to the...

Taylor KitschUpon hearing the news that Taylor Kitsch ("Friday Night Lights," X-Men Origins: Wolverine) is being courted to star in Oliver Stone's next film, Savages, Cinematical's Jacob Hall posted an article asking "Is Taylor Kitsch the Next Sam Worthington?" And it makes sense. Kitsch has a similarly rugged and athletic look, and he's already set to star in two of 2012's biggest blockbusters: Battleship and John Carter of Mars. The latter is a Disney sci-fi epic being called "The Next Avatar" in some circles.
But, to me, the comparison to Worthington is to compare to the latest in a long line of fresh faces the major studios force down our throats, only for us to tire of them within a year or two. For the sake of this article, I'll call refer to this idea of the "next" big actor as the search for "that guy." Some of them,...

The topic of Natalie Portman seems to come up quite a bit in my life. It's been observed, typically by my lady, that this is because I'm the person who's always mentioning her. "Natalie Portman would look good in those shoes," I might say, or, " I wonder if Natalie Portman likes pickles on her hamburger?" "I think Natalie Portman is just the right size for me!" Stuff like that. It's not an obsession, just an appealing and entirely legal form of attentiveness, I think.
Anyway, the thing is, Natalie Portman is likable. She's beautiful, intelligent, charming, and comes wonderfully accessorized with a sense of modesty and self-awareness that hang from her like a pair of pearl earrings. She seems to have an unaffected sincerity, giving her the vibe of a genuinely happy spirit and as utterly lame as this might sound, you feel that radiating from her eyes and see it in her smile.

The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue has been around for more than 40 years, and at this point, any debate about it's social validity is so far removed from the world we inhabit, that to bring it up suggests you're a hippy--the kind of person who names their children India or Reykjavik.
Sex touches, even commands pretty much everything we do, and so nobody should be surprised if one grim February day, when the New Yorker brain trust sees that they're losing market share, they decide to launch their own Swimsuit Issue. Yes, models--most wearing glasses--their bodies traced by just the softest breaths of poetry.
Existing in an omni sexual climate, the Si Swimsuit issue barely makes a ripple these days. Amidst the visual cacophony of the Internet, where masturbatory dream girls beckon to us constantly, this magazine seems quaint, wholesome, even. More than anything, it has the vibe of a 1960's era Playboy magazine.

Today marks the Fourth Annual Pajiba Ten -- The Ten Most Bangalicious Celebrities on the Planet, as determined and ranked by our readers. Before we get on to the Pajiba Ten, it's worth repeating what I love about this annual list. The Pajiba 10: Like nothing else we do, in one post, you can gauge the sensibility of this site and know if you're in the right place or not. We're not exactly fanboys, but we're not exactly hipster douchebags, either. But we might be somewhere in the middle; between Wes Anderson and Guillermo Del Toro, between Christopher Nolan and Paul Thomas Anderson, between Joss Whedon and David Milch. And we may hate 85 percent of the Hollywood product, and we may be occasionally pretentious, but our love of great films and quality television sure as hell doesn't obscure our libidos. We just like to fantasize about a higher class of celebrity,...

While channel surfing the other day, I happened to stop on a movie that was disarmingly familiar. I knew for certain that I'd never seen, or even heard of the film, but still, there was a comforting deja vu to the proceedings. For whatever reason, this lame movie--Abandon (2002) starring Katie Holmes -- was pulling emotional responses out of me that the film, on its own, hadn't earned. It took me ten minutes or so, but soon enough I figured out that the movie was shot in Montreal, on the campus of McGill University, where I studied some years ago.
Honestly, I felt like I was 18 again, and each time I saw a part of the city (disguised to look like a generic Us metropolis) that I used to hang out in, it was like I'd been transported back to the emotional landscape of my 18-year-old self. What this means...

Jesse Ventura is one hell of an American.
After graduating from high school in Minnesota, he became a Navy Seal who served during the Vietnam War. Next, he was a member of the outlaw motorcycle gang "The Mongols," (his nickname was Superman) where he rose to the rank of Sergeant-at-Arms. After a stint as a bodyguard for the Rolling Stones, he then defined himself as Jesse "The Body" Ventura, the bleach blonde villain of the world of pro wrestling.
This launched him into the world of celebrity, where he was able to parlay his natural charisma and blunt intelligence into careers as an actor, author, radio call-in host, NFL analyst, mayor, and of course, Governor of Minnesota.
Ceaselessly reinventing himself, Ventura's grabbed every opportunity that's unfolded before him, becoming a kind of kitschy folk hero in the process. Now nearly 60, he's morphed into the host of "Conspiracy Theory with Jesse Ventura,...
