- As the 1948 Olympic Figure Skating Champion, Barbara Ann Scott from Canada had turned pro the Austrian Eva Pawlik was celebrated as the world's highest ranking female amateur skater in the summer of 1948. Starring at the Vienna Ice Revue in the fifties, as a single skater and - together with her husband Rudi Seeliger - as a figure skating pair. Morris Chalfen, the boss of the competitor enterprise "Holiday On Ice", considered her Europe's best show star on ice since the thrice Olympic Champion Sonja Henie. In 1954, Pawlik earned a doctorate of philosophy at the Vienna University.
