Chris Jericho Once Took A Dig At WWE For Disrespecting The Icons(Photo Credit –YouTube/Instagram)
It’s no lie that Chris Jericho made his entire career during his stint with WWE. He was one of the most prominent figures during the Attitude Era, and even later, he maintained his superstar status with his mic skills and entertaining persona. However, a few years back, he cut ties with the promotion and joined the rival camp, Aew. Ever since then, he has been vocal about the negatives of his ex-company.
Aew (All Elite Wrestling) was founded in 2019, and Tony Khan serves as its president and CEO. When this promotion was founded, it became a major attraction in the pro wrestling world, and several WWE stars jumped ship. The real shocker was witnessed when veterans like Jericho, Mark Henry, Big Show, and Sting joined Khan’s promotion.

In the summer of 1996, the World Wrestling Federation held its annual King of the Ring tournament. After weeks of matches, the semis and finals were set for June 23rd, 1996, with Stone Cold Steve Austin facing Jake “The Snake” Roberts for the crown later in the night. Roberts, then known for working from a Christian angle, would cut a promo before the match doing just that. Just before Austin took the ring and pinned Roberts, he was tipped about the promo’s contents.
After the five-minute match, Austin stood next to the same man who tipped him off, Michael Hayes. And it was there that a legend and a catchphrase were born, and an entire industry was born again. With a mouth full of blood, Stone Cold Steve Austin told his defeated opponent: “You sit there and you thump your Bible, and you say your prayers, and it didn’t get you anywhere!

The teaser trailer and poster for a truly terrifying cinematic experience from producer Ridley Scott and director/writer Fede Alvarez, 20th Century Studios’ Alien: Romulus, is here!
The sci-fi/horror-thriller takes the phenomenally successful “Alien” franchise back to its roots: While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe.
Alien: Romulus opens exclusively in theaters nationwide August 16, 2024.
The production and set design are incredible – it’s a terrific combination of the Nostromo from the original 1979 film as well as the elevator from the 1986 sequel Alien.
In today’s interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Alvarez said of Ridley Scott and James Cameron:
James Cameron is also someone I’ve met through the years, and when he learned that I was doing it, we started chatting about it. So I also...

A24’s new trailer for Civil War doesn’t move viewers any closer to understanding how, given the history of our country, California would be joining Texas and Florida in seceding from the United States. The idea of a second Civil War is nowhere near as far-fetched as Texas and Florida agreeing with anything California proposes, and vice versa, and writer/director Alex Garland recently said he wants audiences to ask how that could possibly happen.
“I tend not to spell things out in films. I sometimes feel overly spoon-fed by cinema, and so I probably just react against that,” said Garland in an interview with Empire. “That question, why Texas and California, is a question that I want the audience to ask.”
The film stars Oscar nominee Kirsten Dunst, Cailee Spaeny, Wagner Moura, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Sonoya Mizuno, and Nick Offerman. Spaeny, McKinley Henderson, Offerman, and Mizuno previously starred...

When it comes to serious movies about wrestling, The Iron Claw is a bit unorthodox. During the height of wrestling’s popularity in the late ‘90s, we had two major documentaries on the subject via Wrestling with Shadows and Beyond the Mat. The Wrestler starring Mickey Rourke was serious, but fictional, based loosely on the modern life of Jake “The Snake” Roberts and his contemporaries. The recent Fighting with My Family, meanwhile, was a sensationalized and comedic take on Saraya/Paige’s initial ascent in WWE.
By contrast, The Iron Claw is based on a bitterly true story that has always been considered one of the darkest corners in wrestling history. It has been the subject of several documentaries itself and has long been viewed as a rich resource for a potential Hollywood film. That’s because the rise and fall of World Class Championship Wrestling coincides with the story of the Von Erich family.

Match #1: Swerve Strickland def. Ar Fox The following is courtesy of allelitewrestling.com:
Fox attacked Swerve as the show was coming onto the air. They brawled onto the ramp. Ar Fox jumped off the stage and landed on Swerve with a crossbody press! They made it to the ring and Fox flipped over the top rope and landed on Swerve on the arena floor, Fox clearly taking the fight to Strickland. Swerve hip tossed Fox onto the ring apron, with Fox’s legs taking the brunt of the impact. Swerve whipped Fox into the steel guardrail.

When it comes crashing down and it hurts inside, then it might be time to step away from the drugs and alcohol. And that’s just what pro wrestler, suburban commando and Richard Belzer choker-outer Hulk Hogan had to do when it started running wild on him.
Speaking with Muscle & Health, Hulk Hogan (real name Terry Bollea) said, “I’ve had a lot of practice drinking because I wrestled for about forty years, so those guys have a beer every once in a while,” a clear nod to the days when the vast majority of pro wrestlers were heavy drinkers (and looked like it). “But about seven months ago, I decided not to drink any more alcohol. I was at a New Year’s Eve party and saw a bunch of stuff that I didn’t condone or like. I saw myself in this environment, and I went, ‘You know what?...

Writer-director Alex Garland’s haunting and provocative horror film “Men” is ruthlessly stripped down yet yields a seemingly infinite array of responses and interpretations from its audience; how you respond to it depends largely on what you bring to it. Garland’s combination of precise visual and sound design with ambiguous, dreamlike imagery and dialogue creates unique challenges for the audience – as well as for collaborators like editor Jake Roberts.
Roberts, who previously worked with Garland on “Devs,” a sci-fi limit series for FX that imagined the potential intersection of big tech and quantum computing, had been told that Garland was working on another television series, so when he received the stripped-down script for “Men” he was a bit surprised. “It was pitched to me as a sort of Covid-proof low-budget horror movie we could shoot during lockdown,” said Roberts in an interview with IndieWire.

Welcome to this weeks review of Aew: Dark, again from Daily’s Place in front of a smaller crowd… This show show look a lot different in the coming weeks apparently. Maybe. Probably not (apart from fans ringside). Anyway on with this weeks review…
Match #1: Wardlow def. Baron Black
My Thoughts: Apart from a few chops and some work on Wardlow’s left arm this match was all Wardlow. All Wardlow throwing Black around… around the ring that is. Nice attempt at a Cobra Clutch by Black though!
My Score: 1 out of 5 Match #2: Lee Johnson def. Vary Morales
My Thoughts: This was a fantastic match with two guys who seemed very well matched. Morales was a great opponent for Johnson and offered some great back and forth, meaning this match was never fully predictable.
My Score: 3 out of 5 Match #3: Abadon def. Hyan

This weeks Aew Dark: Elevation got a Lot of things right, so lets see if Aew can follow-up one great show with another… Welcome to this weeks review of Aew: Dark!
Match #1: The Acclaimed def. Fuego Del Sol and D3
My Thoughts: No! Not another squash match for poor Fuego Del Sol. He’s got to get a win in someday doesn’t he? Much like their E;levation appearance, this match was pretty much to show how The acclaimed are back together and just as good as before Bowen’s injury. Just a shame Fuego had to be in yet another losing side.
My Score: 1.5 out of 5 Match #2: Matt and Mike Sydal def. David Ali and Aaron Frye

Exclusive: Iconic Talent Agency, which specializes in repping craft talent in film and TV, has taken the wraps off Iconic Editorial, a new subsidiary that will provide the company’s roster of editors access to commercial and branded entertainment projects.

There were some growing pains, but All Elite Wrestling has been able to hold its own during the days of Covid. In their last PPV, Double or Nothing 2020, they played up the situation with what’s probably the best ever use of the cinematic wrestling match gimmck with the Stadium Stampede. Now they’re getting ready for their next big PPV, Aew All Out 2020.
There’s some history behind the name of this PPV. Aew’s prototype show back in September 2018 was called All In, which centered around various wrestling promotions and indie talent working together. Aew officially launched a few months later and around its anniversary they had the first All Out. It gave us the crowning of the first Aew Champion in Chris Jericho, an all-women Casino Battle Royal, the surprise debut of Orange Cassidy, and the first (and hopefully not last) Cracker Barrel Clash.

To navigate the complex story in FX on Hulu's limited series Devs, creator-director Alex Garland (Ex Machina) enlisted Oscar-nominated editor Jake Roberts (Hell or High Water) to cut all eight episodes. Roberts says Garland "insisted" on working with one editor because he wanted "an authored consistency to the whole show." This required Roberts to bend time in the cutting room, allowing viewers to follow software developer Lily (Sonoya Mizuno) when she's pulled into a plot involving her company's mysterious CEO, tech developer Forest (Nick Offerman), and a program that could allow access to the past ...
Following my list of the Ten Best WrestleMania Matches of the 1990s, I was sent down a rabbit-hole of watching every WrestleMania again and figured it might be cool to do the same for the 80s. Now, the 80s doesn’t have as many matches to choose from like the 90s did, and the 00s and 2010s will, but there’s still five WrestleMania events to dive into, so I thought it would be cool either way. Plus… there are some damn fine matches to be found in those first five Mania events. Sure… the workrate in many areas of the WWF during that time wasn’t as great as it would become, but there’s still plenty of iconic and entertaining matches, many featuring the same group of guys. So, here it is, my top ten of the best WrestleMania Matches of the 1980s.

All Elite Wrestling’s PPV schedule is more sporadic than WWE’s. When they did their last show, Aew Revolution, it was on Leap Day. It was a different time. The coronavirus was still in the “not that big deal” phase where delaying the new James Bond movie seemed like a silly, exaggerated response. The match of the night was Hangman Page and Kenny Omega vs. the Young Bucks and the aftermath was very open-ended as all four men and Cody were set to take on the Inner Circle in what was supposed to be Aew’s version of War Games.
Soon after, they did a show in Jacksonville with no audience due to Covid-19 concerns. Next thing you know, they’re at Qt Marshall’s training facility in Georgia for a month’s worth of tapings, featuring 1/3 of the Aew roster and a handful of indie wrestlers. The Young...

Welcome to this week’s All Elite Wrestling: Dynamite review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have Jake Roberts’s fighter making their debut. Madea! Madea! Y’all need to whop that little b—-’s ass!
Match #1: Cody Rhodes defeated Ortiz The following is courtesy of allelitewrestling.com:
Ortiz gave Cody a head-butt to the midsection, and then an Irish whip to the turnbuckle. “The Murderhawk” Lance Archer, alongside Jake “the Snake” Roberts, made their way through the crowd in the stands to get a closer view of Cody’s match! Cody threw Ortiz into the metal steps on the outside of the ring. Santana distracted Cody, and Ortiz kicked Cody’s leg out from under him. “That wheel is giving Cody some problems right now,” said Jim Ross. Ortiz suplexed Cody, but “the American Nightmare” lifted his shoulders before the three-count. Ortiz tried...

So, I’m a wrestling fan, have been for going-on three decades, and so when I’m not watching pro-wrestling on television or on PPV, or when I’m not looking back on old shows, or when I’m not collecting wrestling figures, or when I’m not watching documentaries about the wrestling business, I’m likely listening to a pro-wrestling podcast. Oh, and there’s a whole lot of those. The podcast world is drenched with high-quality wrestling podcasts, and because of this fact I can’t listen to them all, but I do my best to listen to a good selection of them, and so I thought I’d recommend a few here, a few that I personally consider the best wrestling podcasts out there today.

Well, this was a really nice surprise when it was announced. Steve Austin, back on the WWE Network with an interview show much-like his video podcast from a couple of years ago. The first guest? The Undertaker.
We haven’t seen many (at all) our of character interviews with Mark Callaway,, so of course this was a big deal. This really is a kayfabe-less interview too. Austin is sitting down with the man behind The Undertaker character, with all the gimmick pulled back completely. We hear the two reminisce (as is regular with Austin’s interviews) and talk about ‘Taker’s career, his early days prior to breaking-in to the business, his debut in WWE and his magnificent and hugely successful career that followed.
I got a kick out of this, hearing the two talk about the various times their paths crossed as well as hearing ‘Taker talk about his...

‘Race Across The World’ Commissioner David Brindley Quits The BBC To Join ITV Studios-Backed Twofour
Twofour Group has moved quickly to fill a creative hole opened up by the departures of Melanie Leach and Andrew Mackenzie by hiring BBC commissioner David Brindley as creative director.
Brindley has won admirers during his tenure as head of popular factual and factual entertainment at the BBC, and is responsible for commissioning hits including Studio Lambert’s Race Across The World and Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing.
Brindley joined the BBC in 2016 from Channel 4, where he spent three years as a commissioner. Prior to that, he worked at Twofour on documentaries such as Emmy-winning Educating Yorkshire, meaning his appointment is something of a reunion with his former employer.
Brindley is the most eye-catching hire in a management overhaul at ITV Studios-owned Twofour after Deadline exclusively revealed last month that Leach and Mackenzie were leaving to set up South Shore, another ITV-backed production venture.

Exclusive: Melanie Leach and Andrew Mackenzie are exiting The Jump and This Time Next Year producer Twofour Group to set up their own ITV-backed venture.
Deadline understands that the pair, who are CEO and Chief Creative Officer of Twofour respectively, are in the concluding phase of talks with ITV Studios to back their new production business South Shore.
This comes four years after ITV acquired TwoFour Group, one of the largest non-scripted producers in the UK, in a deal that cost it £55M for a 75% stake.
South Shore will produce documentaries, popular factual programming and entertainment formats. Leach and Mackenzie are to continue to oversee Twofour until talks with ITV Studios close. Twofour CFO and COO Anthony Hughes will also join them at South Shore.

Now, I’ve been opinionated here lately, but I haven’t compiled any sort of list, and we all like a list, don’t we? So, I figured I’d create a list that is purely my opinion but, from knowing how many people in and out of wrestling feel, it will be a series of opinions shared by many too. We can all shoot the breeze and throw around who we think are the best at something, and it’s all just opinion. We all have different views on what makes the best, what we feel are the best. So, this is my opinion of the ten best talkers in the history of pro-wrestling. Please let me know if you agree or disagree, I’d love to hear your thoughts on who makes your list and who tops it.

Nothing feels better than when a film wins you over, fully and truly. The Peanut Butter Falcon is all heart and inspires joy within you from start to finish. Flying under the radar, this adventure story is one of the year’s absolute gems, in a way that nothing else can fully touch. There’s simply no other movie like this one out in the world. There’s magic in this picture, engrained in its very core. You won’t even be able to put your finger on it until the end. It’s simply a feeling that wells up within you as the plot moves forward. Kudos to all involved for crafting something so tremendous. Presented as a modern day Mark Twain tale, the movie tells the story of Zak (Zack Gottsagen), a 22 year old man with Down syndrome who has the dream of becoming a professional wrestler. Stuck...

"While you been doing the paperwork, we been doing something called 'living.'" Roadside Attractions has unveiled an official trailer for an indie drama titled The Peanut Butter Falcon, which first premiered at the SXSW Film Festival earlier this year. This amusing indie is the feature directorial debut of filmmakers Tyler Nilson & Michael Schwartz, and is described as a "modern Mark Twain style adventure story". Shia Labeouf stars as a small time outlaw turned unlikely coach who joins forces with Zak, a young man with Down Syndrome on the run from the nursing home with the dream of becoming a professional wrestler. The impressive ensemble cast includes Zack Gottsagen as Zak, along with Dakota Johnson, John Hawkes, Thomas Haden Church, Bruce Dern, Jon Bernthal, Yelawolf, Jake Roberts, & Mick Foley. I like the quote in the trailer: "the sweetest darn film of the decade." Looks like a good one, funny and optimistic.

Every Royal Rumble has to start with someone and these pairs of competitors tend to have some meaning behind their appearances.
One of the things that makes the Royal Rumble so great is the illusion that everything is random. When the countdown ends, we don’t truly know who is going to run out most of the time. The full roster is a mystery, as is its order. But only in storyline. After all, wrestling is predetermined, so all of this is planned and written. That’s why the last five or six spots are usually the heavy hitters.
The #30 spot tends to be pretty straightforward. Outside of the three times when it’s gone to the winner, the final entrant is usually a specific kind of wrestler who is supposed to come off as high-level and threatening, but one that we know has zero real chance winning the match.

Tagline: "All Beauty Must Die." Richard Chandler (Gilgamesh, 2014) is the writer behind the horror title Parts Unknown. His latest stars: Melantha Blackthorne (Death Race, 2008), Sarah Michelle, Alexandra Cipolla and former pro-wrestler Jake Roberts. Together, they bring they bring the story of the Von Strasser family to the screen. The Von Strassers, a family of unstable wrestlers, seek to reclaim their position within the wrestling industry, through any way possible. The film's first poster and casting details are hosted here. Director Chandler has a few things to say on his latest production. He says of Parts Unknown and its story: "it's original. Whether people can get past a smaller budget or not, no one can deny that this hasn't really been done. It exists in its own world." To blend horror and wrestling does come across as original. Though, the Trick or Treat podcast does blend these two elements often in their show.

As the Undertaker announces his retirement, we look back at his Wrestlemania record...
This article is from Den Of Geek Us.
WrestleMania XXX was an eventful show. It calmed the fears of those afraid that it would crash the WWE Network and cause major damage to the company's latest venture. Cesaro broke away from his tag team and broke out by winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Trophy. Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, and the Rock hung out in the ring and had a blast. Mr. T and Roddy Piper buried the hatchet. Daniel Bryan went through an endless supply of punishment before being defeating Triple H, Randy Orton, and Batista.
That was a big moment and a major story, but the thing people will be talking about for a long time is the end of Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar. For the first time ever, Undertaker lost at...

Monday Night Raw is in the books for another week. We’re five weeks out from the Royal Rumble on January 29th, 2017 at the Alamo Dome. What does the build up for this event look like for the Raw brand?
Unlike years past, this episode was not terrible. The WWE tends to go on autopilot this time of year and phone in the last couple shows of the year. This year, they’re letting the stories flesh out some more which, despite mostly flawed results, is better than holiday themed matches that mean nothing.
One positive comes with Jack Gallagher, a cruiserweight featured on the 205 Live show. The past few weeks he’s been feuding with Ariya Daivari. I’m loving the English gentleman character. There was a match he did last week where he teased doing a dive outside of the ring yet ended up stepping through the middle...

Bret “Hitman” Hart began his career in his father’s Stampede Wrestling promotion, before achieving global superstardom in the World Wrestling Federation in the ’80’s and ’90’s. His no-nonsense attitude, and the legitimacy that came with being a Hart Brother from the infamous family Dungeon enabled Bret to bypass the cartoon gimmicks that were handed out to his WWF colleagues.
And so, while his peers on the WWF roster were saddled with ludicrous personas (such as the gifted Terry Taylor being made to cluck and strut as The Red Rooster), Bret was able to sidestep all of the cornball nonsense and continually be presented as a serious athlete.
Forget the multiple championship wins, being presented simply as a wrestler in Vince McMahon’s 80’s universe, was perhaps Bret’s greatest accomplishment.

When people talk about the World Wrestling Federation’s New Generation Era, many fans will argue about when exactly the era started.
In my eyes, it began once the majority of the 1980’s acts like Jake Roberts, Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior and others parted ways with the company. Following the exodus, WWF then debuted Monday Night Raw in prime time in January of 1993 and would air vignettes about the ‘New Generation’ of WWF stars.
Performers like Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon were championed on television as being the new faces of the company. Due to this era not being commercially successful, a lot of great matches have unfortunately been forgotten, while only the major pay per-view encounters have seem to have stood the test of time.
There are great bouts that people still regularly discuss, like The Heartbreak Kid and Razor Ramon Ladder Match from WrestleMania X...

When older fans look back on watching WWF in the 1980’s and are asked to name their favourites or which superstars they most remember, the stock answers are Hulk Hogan or the Ultimate Warrior, but they’ll often bring up Jake The Snake Roberts, too. The man who walked to the ring looking like a serial killer, hit arguably the best Ddt of all-time, and carried a bag with a python snake named Damien.
Sadly, over the last twenty years or so, those who grew up and continued to watch wrestling or somehow caught a glimpse of Jake via TMZ would feel sad at the tragic way his life turned out. Jake’s demons had gotten the best of him and he’d become a drug addict, couldn’t get a job with a major wrestling company and was known for his inappropriate behaviour at independent wrestling shows.

Going into 1990, the then-World Wrestling Federation was running on the fumes of the last vestiges of the Rock ‘n Wrestling Era, the days of Hulkamania slowly coming to an end. Faced with a number of damaging scandals, the WWF limped into the ill-conceived ‘New Generation’, in which Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, and Diesel led a motley crew of technicolor cartoon characters through watered-down programming. With the breakout of Stone Cold Steve Austin’s defiant act, the Attitude Era lay just beyond the muck, and would bring Vince McMahon’s empire back to global prominence.
It’s sometimes hard to fathom that these three eras could have possibly run concurrently, where Hulk Hogan’s fifth WWF Championship reign took place a mere four years before Austin bled out all over the Rosemont Horizon in an astonishing showcase. Soares was formerly serving as CEO of GoDigital subsidiary Distribber.com, a service that has released thousands of independent films on major digital platforms.
Resurrection of Jake the Snake, directed by Steve Yu, is the most recent release from the company. The title is currently topping the charts on the iTunes documentary section. But in terms of something with which online video audiences may be more familiar, GoDigital partnered with Fullscreen Films to release digital sensation Nash Grier’s The Outfield back in November 2015. That title debuted number one spot on the iTunes drama and indie movie charts.

To many wrestling fans, the annual Royal Rumble is the most enjoyable PPV of the year. Sure, WrestleMania may have the glitz and glamour, but the Rumble show usually has at least one or two great matches on the card, not to mention the over-the-top titular match itself.
The reason that fans love the Royal Rumble match is down to a whole variety of reasons; there’s the anticipation of possibly seeing a debuting face; there’s the hope of an old favourite of yesteryear appearing; there’s the chance that the match is used to make somebody into a main event player; and there’s even the slightest of hope (which is seemingly getting slighter with each passing year) that will be given an unpredictable finish.
Quite often, though, the real key to a Royal Rumble match is its anchor; a superstar who slugs it out and...

To a new generation of fans, the name Jake Roberts has unfortunately become synonymous with words like drugs, alcohol, addiction, rehab and…erm, yoga.
All of this can be seen in the recently released “The Resurrection of Jake The Snake”, the critically acclaimed documentary that was released on iTunes last week after a well-received theatrical run. But, before all of Jake’s personal problems became public and threatened to define him, he was one of the greatest talents in the history of WWE.
And for a very short time, he was also one of the company’s most hated and despicable heels.
In just nine months, while performing as one the most vile and truly evil villains in wrestling history, Jake racked up one disturbing moment after another as he antagonized legends such as The Ultimate Warrior, “Macho Man” Randy Savage and The Undertaker. Jake helped redefine what a wrestling heel could be,...

With WWE Royal Rumble 2020 almost upon us, we look at every match and see the best and worst of what they had to offer.
In 2003, a rapping John Cena said it best. “Besides open mics, one thing that gets me boiled is an old school 30-man battle royal.” Actually, he didn’t say that best at all! What was I thinking quoting him?
What I mean to say is that the Royal Rumble match is one of the best things WWE has had going for them since the '80s. Pat Patterson’s brainchild has given us well over a day’s worth of footage and a lifetime of great memories. WWE may act like the Royal Rumble is the appetizer to WrestleMania’s main course, but as far as I’m concerned, the Rumble is the main course and Mania is just a lengthy dessert.

In today’s WWE Universe, the Survivor Series has turned into just another pay-per-view (or “WWE Network special presentation”, however you want to say it), but, back in the day, it was one of the premiere events on the WWE calendar.
An Original Four event, the Survivor Series featured an entire card stacked with teams of four wrestlers taking on another team in an elimination tag match. In its earliest incarnation, the “survivors” of the matches on the card would meet in the main event in an Ultimate Survivor Match to determine the king(s) of the Survivor Series.
However, with the Attitude Era came changes in the product and WWE felt that the late 1990s audiences didn’t have the attention span for Survivor Series matches, which sometimes ran as long as 40 minutes to tell a proper story. This made the event far less important and less...
