Kumail Nanjiani has gotten to have some experiences any pop culture nerd would envy over the years, most notably a guest-starring role on “The X-Files” when the series returned for a 10th season in 2016. However, don’t expect to see him in Season 11 (currently shooting now), or for him to resume his podcast “The X-Files Files.”
As he told IndieWire’s Mike Schneider during the IndieWire Honors ceremony last week, the character he played in “Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-monster” had a pretty definite end, which also contributed to the ending of the podcast he started in 2014 to discuss episodes of the beloved Fox drama.
“I can’t really do the podcast anymore, because I feel like I’m a part of that world now,” he said.

John Stamos is celebrating America’s birthday with America’s band—and giving back to those who’ve made this country great.
The 53 year-old television star hosted the PBS concert special A Capitol Fourth on Tuesday, broadcasting live from the West Lawn of the United States Capitol in Washington D.C. The festivities featured performances by country songstress Kellie Pickler, Voice winner Chris Blue, Motown legends the Four Tops—plus the Beach Boys, who had a little help from Sugar Ray’s Mark McGrath on vocals and Stamos himself on drums.
Stamos’ friendship with the groundbreaking rock icons dates back over three decades.

In the final scene from last night’s “Better Call Saul,” Kim (Rhea Seehorn) gets confronted by the future — specifically, the future of her current paramour, real name Jimmy McGill… but known first by “Breaking Bad” fans as Saul Goodman.
Kim doesn’t really know what she’s seeing in Season 3, Episode 6, “Off Brand,” but the audience does, thanks to years of history with the many-named character played by Bob Odenkirk. Since his introduction in “Breaking Bad” Season 2, and the resulting prequel series, Jimmy or Saul or (eventually) Gene has been a fascinating figure. “It’s just a name,” Jimmy tells Kim when she questions the Saul Goodman persona. But in conversations with Odenkirk and series co-creator Peter Gould, it’s clear that it means so much more.

Saturday night, as we write this, we’re experiencing a cruel/beautiful/hilarious joke on behalf of Adult Swim — one all too fitting for April Fools’ Day (except it’s not a joke).
The third season premiere of “Rick and Morty” is now streaming on adultswim.com, an adventure that continues doubling down on the time travel underpinnings of the series.
According to comments on the feed, the episode will be replaying on a loop until midnight tonight. Voice actors Chris Parnell, Spencer Grammer, Sarah Chalke and more remain in fine form, plus special guest star Nathan Fillion.
“Rick and Morty,” the beloved Adult Swim animated series created by Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland, has been on an extended hiatus for which Harmon took full blame during the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. “I don’t have a release date for Season 3. It’s not that I know it...

The Clone Club has gone Hollywood. (Okay, maybe only Crystal did.)
The cast and creators of “Orphan Black” hit PaleyFest on Thursday night at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre for its first ever panel to look back on the past four seasons and hint at the fifth and final season. The night kicked off with more than just a hint though. The Paley audience was given an exclusive early screening of the Season 5 premiere.

Six seasons and a movie? Six seasons, a movie, and then a seventh season? Six seasons and goodbye? Where exactly do things stand with "Community"? The sitcom wrapped its sixth season, and first as part of Yahoo Screen, with an episode that felt even more like a series finale than any of the previous maybe-kinda-sorta finales. (Spoilers follow.) "Emotional Consequences of Broadcast Television" had Jeff and the other characters speculating on what a "season 7" of their adventures might look like, and which characters would be a part of it. Jeff eventually made peace with the idea that he'll likely be the last member of the original study group still at Greendale, and he sent Abed and Annie off for new job opportunities in Hollywood and with the FBI, respectively. On top of that, Gillian Jacobs and Ken Jeong already have new series jobs lined up. At an La Times event on Tuesday,...

PaleyFest continued last night with a full house for the beloved-but-almost-always-on-the-brink-of-cancellation NBC comedy "Community." According to TV Guide's L.A. Bureau Chief Mike Schneider, also the panel's moderator, "Community" was returning to Paleyfest for an "unprecedented fifth time." Cast members Joel McHale, Jim Rash, Yvette Nicole Brown, Danny Pudi and Gillian Jacobs participated on the panel, alongside executive producers Dan Harmon and Chris McKenna. Harmon and McKenna had been absent for the show's fourth season due to the former's firing which subsequently convinced the latter to leave the show. Much to the audience's surprise, the evening began with a screening of the first episode of the two-part Season 5 finale. (spoilers ahead!) Equal parts zany and heartfelt, the episode focuses on how Jeff and the gang prepare (or in some cases, don't prepare) for the insurance inspection that will determine Greendale's value to the city. After a series of bizarre tests.

There's a parallel universe somewhere in which "Mad Men" is a straight-up comedy, and it's not very far from our own.
The Emmy-winning series has featured plenty of comedic moments over the years, and Friday (March 21) at the 2014 Paley Festival, the cast's way with a funny line was on full display. Even before the first question, the show's cast was drawing laughs, as when Jon Hamm made an exaggerated come-hither face at the sound guy attaching his mic. A very appreciative audience couldn't get enough of it.
The physical humor reached its peak with a question from a fan about how the actors convey meaning in a scene where they don't have any dialogue. Cue Hamm making a serious face at moderator Mike Schneider from TV Guide, which led to a staring contest that lasted at least a full minute, to the amazement of the rest of the cast and...

Breaking Bad made its first-ever appearance at Comic-Con yesterday, taking over Ballroom 20 in front of 4,000 fans and clearly having a blast while doing it.
Creator Vince Gilligan walked on stage wearing a white “Heisenberg" shirt, while Dean Norris came dressed in a Xena Warrior Princess costume. Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul then completed the panel… in their yellow hazmat suits.
The Q&A was moderated by TV Guide's Mike Schneider, who immediately told the crown to "hail King Heisenberg." He then got down to business:
What is the state of Walt's cancer?
“We haven’t forgotten what brought us here,” said Gilligan. “The irony is that he wouldn’t have gotten the best oncology care had he not cooked all that meth. He’s in state of remission. But will that continue?

A quick guide for the San Diego Comic-Con was released yesterday, giving attendees and press an easy way to view the daily schedule and various panels, screenings, and guests. The Comic-Con 2012 schedule has now been released in full, and barring any major updates, is set. The blessing and curse of being an attendee is deciding which panels/autograph sessions/special events to attend, when they conflict. And they always do.
For you to see for yourself, below are what we are calling the “headliner” panels; those panels that are taking place in Hall H, Ballroom 20, Room 6Bdf, and the just-next-door Hilton Indigo Ballroom, the four major venues for panels. There are descriptions of each panel as well as the show(s) and/or movie(s) they are there to discuss.
See how many conflicts you might have, or how you might arrange time and space to somehow attend these plus spend every day in the vendors’ Exhibit Hall and chasing zombies in the nearby The Walking Dead Escape. By the way, if you figure that out, Please let us know.

The AMC network has announced their official panel lineup for San Diego Comic-Con 2012. They will be showing off the greatness of The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad and Comic Book Men. I think it's great that The Walking Dead panel is getting a prime time spot in Hall H this year, and I have no doubt it's going to be full to capacity. Will you be hitting up these panels at the Con this year!? If so, we'll see you there!
Here's all the information on when and where the panels will be taking place:
Talking Dead Host Chris Hardwick will moderate a one-hour The Walking Dead panel, set for Friday, July 13th at 1:25pm in Hall H. Hardwick will discuss what fans can expect in the highly anticipated third season, which debuts in October.
Panelists include: Andrew Lincoln, Sarah Wayne Callies, Laurie Holden, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan,...

There's a lot of panels to cover, so let's just get to it. Check out the pertinent film and television panels set for the first two days of the show after the jump.
The first "day" of the show is Preview Night only, so there's only a couple things happening that night:

We're less than two weeks away from the 2011 San Diego Comic Con, and convention organizers have finally released the schedule for the first day of programing. You can find the full schedule on comic-con.org [1], or after the jump I've listed the film and television highlights, which includes the Masters of the Web panel which I've been invited to be a panelist on (In full disclosure, I've been asked to be on this panel for a few years now, but I've only just recently gotten over my fear of speaking in front of large audiences). It should be a fun panel, and I hear they will be giving away some really cool prizes as well. It was a pretty spoiler-free evening with the producers and cast of "The Walking Dead" at PaleyFest 2011 in Los Angeles Friday (March 4). The panel's moderator, TV Guide's Mike Schneider, did dig for spoilers. But basically the show's writers are just getting to work, so the cast could only describe their hopes for their characters and there's no telling how much of what we heard from the producers will actually come to fruition in Season 2.
"Next season is an open road," says executive producer Frank Darabont. "It can go anywhere."
In fact, Darabont inferred more than once that he could change his mind between the panel and when the second season actually hits our TV sets.
The program started with a replay of Episode 5. From the crowd's response, that was a bit of a letdown. Maybe they were hoping for some teasers of the next season, but as we've already mentioned,...
