Damian F. Slattery
- Writer
Damian Slattery's first produced feature film, A Day In October, tells the story of a Jewish family and a Danish resistance fighter joining forces during the dramatic rescue of Danish Jews in WWII Copenhagen; it won an Angel Award for humanitarian storytelling. He has since written English-language adapted screenplays for two much-honored foreign films, Harry and The Butler (Harry og kammertjeneren, Denmark, Academy Award nominee for Best Foreign Language Film, 1962) and Departures (Japan, Academy Award winner for Best Foreign Language Film, 2009) - both projects are in development. Slattery has also researched and written Hans Christian Andersen, which dramatizes the epic true life story of Denmark's renowned fairy tale author, weaving together the events of Andersen's life with the poignant, profound tales those events inspired. This project is also in development. Slattery lives and works in Brooklyn, NY, and spent many years as a reporter for Sports Illustrated before eventually becoming the brand's Chief Marketing Officer.
