The wave of Disney layoffs that began Monday has hit Freeform and ABC, as well as Disney Television Studios, with key executives departing and roles being consolidated, TheWrap has confirmed.
The development follows news of ESPN’s impact from the wider Disney layoffs earlier in the day.
Julie Jarmon, who was in her second stint at Freeform as SVP development, is leaving as part of the layoffs. Development and current will be consolidated under Jamila Hunter, EVP of original programming and development. Freeform’s Alix Lee, director of development and programming, will also leave as part of the changes.
Stacey Adams, ABC’s SVP, current programming is also leaving. Adams had been leading the network’s drama efforts. Head of drama Brianna Bennett will now take over duties of the role.

Day 1 of Disney’s second wave of layoffs is impacting ABC and Freeform’s senior programming ranks and Disney Television Studios’ music operations.
Respected development executive Julie Jarmon, in her second stint at Freeform as SVP development, is departing, with development and current consolidated under Jamila Hunter, EVP of original programming and development.
Stacey Adams, ABC’s SVP, Current Programming, who has been leading the network’s drama current team, is departing. Head of drama Brianna Bennett, who has been spearheading development, will now also take over current. (ABC head of comedy Erin Wehrenberg already has been handling both development and current).
Over the past couple of decades, networks have gone multiple times back-and-forth between having standalone current programming departments and combining them with development.

It took ample trial and error for composers Mark Isham and Isabella Summers to get to the heart of Little Fires Everywhere.
Created by Liz Tigelaar, the Hulu miniseries centers on a Shaker Heights matriarch and her family whose lives are upended, when a mysterious mother and daughter come into town. The drama called for a score that would “capture the essence of these women,” Summers says, who had become completely entangled with one another. “We had an intellectual description in mind. We wanted to embrace big rock drums, chamber strings. Burning piano had become a sound,” Isham adds. “I literally have a sample of a piano that’s been set on fire, which seemed apocryphal and cool.”
But to translate intellectual understanding into an emotional, sonic experience, the pair first had to learn how to work as collaborators. One of the driving forces behind English indie rock band Florence and the Machine,...

Is Mary Ramos, the woman Quentin Tarantino praised as “the unsung hero of my filmography,” staging a takeover of TV music supervision, too? Ramos is a television newbie, but made up for lost time by shaping the soundtracks to two of the year’s most binge-worthy limited series, “Mrs. America” and “Little Fires Everywhere,”working with former Tarantino producers Stacey Sher (“Pulp Fiction”) on the former and Pilar Savone (“Django Unchained”) on the latter.
After a three-decade career in movies, what was the biggest surprise about working in TV for the first time?
The difference in post-production schedules between film and television blew my mind. You’re working on four or five episodes at a time. And there are all these different versions you have to show to not just one director but several directors, the showrunner and the studio. I’m used to working with auteurs who write their...

Liz Tigelaar, showrunner of “Little Fires Everywhere,” has been a fan of Ingrid Michaelson’s for years, and even used the singer/songwriter’s “Hate You” in Hulu series’ pilot.
Songs by female musicians, including Alanis Morissette, Lauryn Hill and Annie Lennox, feature prominently in the series, and when it came to this season’s finale, Tigelaar says she knew she wanted an original song to end it.
“I went to Dawn Soler,” ABC Studios’ president of music, “and I brought up Ingrid,” Tigelaar recalls. “She would be perfect and she has the most beautiful voice.”
Even with that endorsement, Michaelson says the lyrics to the song that soundtracks the finale, “Build It Up,” did not come easily. Her first attempts “didn’t hit right,” she says. “I was making it about me.”
But like many experienced artists, she knows her creative process well. “The hardest and most liberating thing...

The original songs of "Nashville" are coming to iTunes. Like "Glee" and "Smash" before it, "Nashville" will release original songs featuring the vocal talents of the ABC series' stars Connie Britton, Hayden Panettiere, Charles Esten, Jonathan Jackson, Clare Bowen and Sam Palladio.
“This is a dynamic and innovative partnership,” Peter Dicecco, senior vice president of ABC Music Business Affairs, said in a statement. “Unlike any other show, the music originates with the story. By doing this, television’s next great drama will have a soundtrack to match."
ABC Studios and Big Machine Records are partnering to release the music, beginning Tuesday, October 9.
"'Nashville' is a project that is very close to our hearts, and we are elated to have found a partner with the same passion and vision for the accuracy we are trying to achieve in the show," Dawn Soler, senior vice president of ABC TV Music, said in a statement.

Legendary soprano Julie Andrews will sing in new movie The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement - the first time since a throat operation in 1997 silenced her. The Sound Of Music star, who once boasted a four-octave vocal range, was forced to quit her role in Broadway show Victor/Victoria in the mid 1990s when she began having voice trouble. She underwent surgery to remove non-cancerous nodules, but was left without her singing voice. Andrews, 68, has since sung briefly on TV specials in America - but she stunned cast and crew on the new film, by almost recapturing her full voice, to perform a rendition of song "Your Crowning Glory." The film's musical supervisor Dawn Soler says, "She's everything you want Julie Andrews to be - she's such a professional. She nailed the song on the first take. I looked around and I saw grips with tears in their eyes." The original 2001 Princess Diaries starred Anne Hathaway as a schoolgirl who inherits the throne of a small European country and is trained to be a princess by her grandmother (Andrews).
