A photograph of Samuel Fuller in "the shack."
It is always well to remember that documentaries are first of all films like other films, meaning that no less than fictional narrative movies, they too have a narrative shaped by the vision of their maker and are not only about their subjects but also are that vision and the individual elements that make it up. So, in A Fuller Life there are a number of choices that Samantha Fuller as director has made, for example to film in “the shack”—the bungalow her father kept as office and filled with his memorabilia from his days as a crime reporter, an infantryman in WWII, a writer and filmmaker; or to use her “readers” (including both actors—mostly from Fuller’s movies—and some well-chosen directors) dramatically, effectively acting their readings from Fuller’s posthumous autobiography A Third Face; or, very simply, to...

The Big Red One
Written and directed by Samuel Fuller
USA, 1980
When a director like Samuel Fuller finally gets the chance to make his passion project, rest assured, there’s going to be more than a little of the man himself in the movie. With Fuller, this would have undoubtedly been the case no matter what type of film it was, but when the film is an autobiographical World War II yarn about the first infantry division — the “fighting first” — the filmmaker’s stamp is evident from start to finish. The Big Red One is an episodic chronicle of this military assembly, here focused on The Sergeant (Lee Marvin, adding classic film respectability), and the “four horsemen,” Pvt. Griff (Mark Hamill, adding contemporary film marketability), Pvt. Zab (Robert Carradine), Pvt. Vinci (Bobby Di Cicco), and Pvt. Johnson (Kelly Ward). The men who make up the four horsemen, a label that...

We at BollySpice are not just excited but inspired by John Travolta having attended the Iifa awards.
As the anticipation builds up on seeing the icon strut his stuff on a Bollywood screen very soon, we at BollySpice were suddenly struck by the thought:
How Cool would a Bollywood version of Travolta’s legendary musical Grease be?!
Grease (Director: Randal Kleiser; 1978) is perfect Bollywood material.
One summer, Danny meets Sandy.
Danny and Sandy fall in love.
As the summer break ends so does their love story as they part ways.
By fate, they end up at the same school but things are not so simple. Danny has a “cool dude” reputation to maintain and doesn’t let his true feelings show… for a while!
Grease is a romantic, feel good musical on love, friendship and coming of age.
Well, we just wouldn’t let a mesmerising thought like this be left to our imaginations…...

They say unseen footage will be shown. Now, this is subjective, because we only had 11 episodes air in the United States, two more on the DVD / Blu-Ray release and a few more have aired overseas for those that can find them for download, so more than likely it will be one of these epsiodes, but we don't have confirmation yet. I will update you when I find out more.

Lelde McCoy and Alexandra Kelly
Alexandra Kelly, the head of Ogilvy PR Melbourne’s consumer practice, is to lead the agency following the shift of current MD Lelde McCoy to a national role at OgilvyEngage.
OgilvyEngage is the agency’s social marketing and behaviour change practice, which launched in June this year.

Like the roundtable Q & A posted earlier with the directors of Disney’s 50th animated film, Tangled, we were given another great opportunity to talk to someone involved with the film. This time around it’s with legendary Disney animator Glen Keane, who has worked on such classics as The Little Mermaid, The Rescuers, The Fox and the Hound, Oliver & Company, Beauty & the Beast, and Aladdin.
The Q&A was pretty insightful into the animation process, enjoy! (questions in bold, answers in italicize)
Was it strange — after being a pencil & notebook guy for all those years — to suddenly be drawing on a tablet?
Glen Keane / : The syntec tablet at first was very slippery with the stylus pen on glass and it took a couple of weeks to get used to that but I quickly found that there were benefits to it. I could animate very quickly moving from one...

The Big Red One: The Reconstruction is director Samuel Fuller’s (Fixed Bayonets, The Steel Helmet, Merrill’s Marauders) autobiographical account of his experiences with the legendary 1st U.S. infantry division throughout World War II. Lee Marvin leads the cast of raw recruits which include Griff (Mark Hamill, fresh from success in Star Wars), Zab (Robert Carradine, who doubles as Fuller and the film’s narrator), Vinci (Bobby Di Cicco), Kaiser (Perry Lang), and Johnson (Kelly Ward).
This version of the 1980 film was released several years following Fuller’s death, which was in 1997, as a tribute to his lasting work and the version he intended his audiences to see. When this version was released in early 2005, I was overjoyed to see the original forty seven minutes which Fuller was forced to cut by the Warner Bros. executives.
