- He was a Chinese born artist who specialized in painting landscapes. While out of work in the United States, his wife urged to apply for a job at the Walt Disney Studios where his art background would be an asset. He was immediately hired on as an inbetweener in the Animation Department.
- Tyrus Wong is the subject of an American Masters segment. It reveals much about his contribution to the animated Disney classic Bambi as well as his other contributions to contemporary Asian design. His use of spare calligraphic lines in his painting has influenced many other artists and he is considered a legend. He contributed storyboard ideas to many iconic movies. The American Masters piece on him is entitled "Tyrus Wong".
