Hip-hop pioneer Rakim is back with a new song, “Be Ill,” the lead single from his first new album in 15 years, G.O.D.’s Network (Reb7rth), out July 26.
On “Be Ill,” Rakim is as lyrically dexterous as ever, rhyming, “Design flows in binary codes, no matrix/Light-speeds, time could be froze, no spaceships/Walking paradox, I made them all believers/Shift the paradigm, even time, alter features.” The song also finds Rakim bringing the two coasts together with guest verses from Wu-Tang Clan member Masta Killa and Tha Dogg Pound Mc Kurupt.

With all the hype surrounding the controversial album cover, the upcoming short film and the ongoing "G.O.O.D. Fridays" project, there is one fascinating story that has gotten a bit lost in the run up to the release of Kanye West's new album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. During the Los Angeles premiere of "Runaway," West revealed that the next single from the album (the third overall, after "Power" and "Runaway") will be a track called "All of the Lights," and it will feature a staggering list of guest stars. On that track, there are drop-ins from Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Elton John, Fergie, John Legend, The-Dream, Tony Williams, Kid Cudi, Charlie Wilson, Ryan Leslie and La Roux's Elly Jackson. "It's completely seamless and completely ghetto as f---," West said of the track.

You knew it was coming, but a collection of La based hip-hop artists have finally taken their love for the 2010 NBA Western Conference Champion Los Angeles Lakers to the airwaves. Ingeniously titled "Lakers Anthem 2010," the track actually has a nice beat and flow going to it. Unfortunately, a listener's enthusiasm once Ice Cube delivers a pretty pathetic string of lyrics that proves he might have lost a good chunk of his creativity producing the new TBS series "Are We There Yet?" Luckily, other contributors including Ray J, Chino Xl, Roscoe Umali, Lil Rob, New Boyz and Dj Felli Fel make...
