Swanning around Italy like side characters from the second season of “The White Lotus,” well-to-do gay couple Dom (Nick Kroll) and Cole (Andrew Rannells) have decided the world is against them. As Americans, they live at a time in a country when they can legally get married, adopt and do pretty much everything straight people can — but they’re also old enough to remember when that wasn’t the case, and so they anticipate rejection and homophobia at every turn. They’re prepared for the worst, and somehow they attract it.
Loosely inspired by filmmakers Brian Crano and David Craig’s bumpy road to fatherhood, catty black comedy “I Don’t Understand You” depicts a stretch in Dom and Cole’s relationship when everything seems to be going their way … until suddenly it doesn’t. While celebrating their anniversary in Italy, the pair get the news that the baby they’ve...

Exclusive: The White Lotus breakout Sabrina Impacciatore has signed with Gersh and Mgmt Entertainment for representation.
Impacciatore is one of the Italian stars of the HBO smash’s second season, following the intertwining lives of employees and guests at a White Lotus luxury hotel in Sicily. The anthology created, written, directed and exec produced by Mike White had her playing Valentina, the tightly wound resort manager who falls for the concierge Isabella (Eleonora Romandini). While she’s annoyed for much of the season by the presence on the property of the sex worker Lucia (Simona Tabasco) and her aspiring singer friend Mia (Beatrice Grannò), she winds up sharing her vulnerability and a life-changing moment of physical intimacy with the latter. Mia is then able to realize a personal dream, as she’s granted the opportunity to perform for hotel guests.

“The White Lotus: Sicily” made the move from limited series to drama series at the 2023 SAG Awards, and things paid off splendidly as the HBO show was nominated in two categories: Best Drama Ensemble and Best Drama Actress for Jennifer Coolidge. The sprawling ensemble consists of a whopping 21 cast members — everyone from known names like Coolidge and F. Murray Abraham to relative newcomers like Sabrina Impacciatore and Leo Woodall.

Update: Tanya died. :(
HBO’s “The White Lotus” is back — which means that viewers, once again, have a murder on their hands.
Season 2 opens with Daphne (Meghann Fahy) going for a swim on the last day of her holiday in Sicily, when she bumps into a dead body (or part of a body?) and swims, screaming, back to shore. Daphne isn’t the victim, but who in this gorgeous, secretive, calculating cast of characters is floating lifeless in the ocean by season’s end?
The second installment of Mike White’s buzzy limited series explores taut sexual politics in one of the world’s most romantic and storied locales, all while building up to not just one death, but multiple. As White Lotus Sicily manager Valentina (Sabrina Impacciatore) learns in the cold open, there are more bodies out there, which sets this death definitively as a murder — unlike Season 1’s arguable accident.

This post contains spoilers for season 2, episode 6 of The White Lotus.
Contrary to all the glitz and glamour on display when a new set of guests arrive at the titular resort, "The White Lotus" is not about the perks of wealth or the joy of vacationing at a gorgeous, sunkissed locale. It's also not about murder or money or even doing cocaine at epic palazzo parties (though Jennifer Coolidge in episode 6 might just convince you otherwise). Beneath the surface, Mike White's sardonic drama is far bleaker than all of that.
The destinations may be beautiful and the characters swimming in wealth, but "The White Lotus" is far from the fantasy that it displays. This is a series about dashed dreams and in the penultimate episode of its second season, the anthology starts to show the true danger of wishful thinking. Disappointment and threatening artichokes wait around every corner and...

Spoiler Alert: This interview contains spoilers up through Episode 6 of “The White Lotus,” airing Sundays on HBO and streaming on HBO Max.
Sabrina Impacciatore’s Valentina finally lets loose in this week’s installment of “The White Lotus,” which follows the last episode’s shocking sex scene — seemingly between an uncle and his nephew — with a more tender moment of intimacy between the uptight hotel manager and Mia (Beatrice Grannò), the free-spirited aspiring singer.
After seducing and accidentally drugging Giuseppe (Federico Scribani), sending him to the hospital, Mia takes over as the hotel’s substitute piano player by appealing to Valentina’s deepest fears and desires. “You’re gay, right? I’m a little bit gay too,” she tells her. “Give me this job, and I promise you and I can have some fun.” It’s a bold proposal, but instead of offending Valentina, it strikes a deep, emotional chord.

Being attached to a big role on one of the most respected television shows in history is the ultimate double-edged sword in entertainment, even more so if that role was as a member of the Italian mob. Michael Imperioli should know that better than anybody, since most people would immediately recognize him as Christopher Moltisanti, one of the most intriguing characters on The Sopranos. But instead of letting himself be typecast in the 15 years since the show ended, Imperioli has been keeping busy in order to buy himself some time. You’ll see him pop up in an indie film, then maybe on an episode of a network crime procedural here, a SAG Award-nominated part in One Night in Miami there — but that next big role on a television show was going to have to be something really special. He found that and then some playing the broken,...

At first glance, Cameron (Theo James) and Daphne (Meghann Fahy) look the very picture of #couplegoals, with their sun-kissed good looks, photogenic designer outfits and cutesy habit of snuggling and smooching in public. But Harper (Aubrey Plaza) isn’t buying into their Instagram-worthy image of marital bliss. “It feels performative,” she scoffs to her husband, Ethan (Will Sharpe), once they’re alone. “No way. It feels fake.”
Because all of them are characters on The White Lotus, Mike White’s spiky satire of the rich and miserable, it comes as little surprise when Harper is eventually proven right. Yet the real question, as Ethan points out, might be why Harper cares in the first place.
