Alpine Pictures' Ryan and Roland Carroll have joined forces with television producer and distributor Glenn Aveni of Icon Music Television to launch Act I Entertainment. The new production and distribution entity, which aims to distribute a minimum of three feature films with budgets of $2 million-$5 million in its first year and to set up production of a minimum of 50 hours of television programming, is already working on its first two projects: a Beyonce Knowles concert special, which Act I is on board to distribute, and a new Bonanza series, now in development. Alpine Pictures, which will retain majority ownership of the joint venture, will produce the feature films, which Act I will distribute. Additionally, Alpine Pictures plans to develop a DVD and home video distribution label to release many of the projects from both Alpine Pictures and Act I Entertainment.
