Tehran, the Israeli spy thriller that airs globally on Apple TV+, has become one of the most high-profile TV series to land a SAG-AFTRA interim agreement.
The series has been added to the list, which allows production to continue filming, despite the ongoing actors strike. See the updated full list below.
Other high-profile movies such as Dakton Fanning-fronted The Watchers and Sam Raimi-produced Don’t Move have also been granted waivers, as has hit faith series The Chosen.
It’s not entirely clear how Tehran has found itself on this list, given that AMPTP member Apple is involved but we hear it might have something to do with the series’ origins.
The series was created by Moshe Zonder, Dana Eden and Maor Kohn and is produced by Donna and Shula Productions, which was formed by Eden and Shula Spiegel. It initially aired on Israeli network Kan 11. Cineflix...

In 1981 director Wolfgang Petersen made a great film adaptation of author Lothar-Günther Buchheim‘s World War II submarine thriller novel Das Boot. I loved that film and now Hulu is taking a crack at the source material by adapting it into a series.
Here’s the official description of the series that was shared:
A story of choices and survival, Das Boot explores the emotional torment of life during World War Two, and the brutal reality of living within a senseless war.
During the Autumn of 1942, in occupied France, U-612 is now ready for its maiden voyage, preparing to head into the increasingly brutal warfare with its young crewmen, including the new captain, Klaus Hoffmann. As the 40 young men take on their first mission, they struggle with the cramped and claustrophobic conditions of life underwater. Their personalities are pushed to the limit as tensions rise and loyalties begin to shatter.

Aside from its slate of international series developed with Zdf and Rai through the Alliance, France Televisions is set to co-produce a flurry of high-profile series aimed at global audiences, notably “Germinal,” “Josephine and Bonaparte” and the adaptation of Guillaume Musso’s bestseller “La jeune fille et la nuit.”
A modern adaptation of Émile Zola’s 1885 masterpiece, “Germinal” tells the story of a coalminers’ strike in northern France in the 1860s. Julien Lilti, the writer of Canal Plus hit series “Hippocrate,” is writing “Germinal” and will likely be collaborating with other writers. Banjiay Rights has come on board to handle international sales on the show which is currently in development.

When Bavaria Fiction executive producer Moritz Polter looks out at the company’s backlot from his office window, he can see the original sets built for “Das Boot,” the classic 1981 movie set in the belly of a German U-boat that’s been recently rebooted with stellar results.
The Oscar-nominated anti-war pic, directed by Wolfgang Petersen and based on Lothar-Gunther Buchheim’s autobiographical bestsellers, was the most expensive feature film to come out of postwar Germany at the time; now “Das Boot” has undergone a major refit and resurfaced as one of the country’s most expensive TV shows and a ratings hit wherever it has aired.

The 1981 film “Das Boot” is getting a sequel in the form of an eight-hour miniseries. The German pay-tv platform Sky Deutschland and German production house Bavaria Film are developing a 25-million-euro ($28.3 million) television version based on the popular Lothar-Günther Buchheim’s books “Das Boot” and “Die Festung.”
The drama will be adapted by Tony Saint and Johannes W. Betz, who are treating the show as a sequel to the film and picking up from the last events that were seen in the movie.
The original film was directed by Wolfgang Petersen and followed the claustrophobic world of a WWII German U-boat; boredom, filth, and sheer terror.

Tonight (June 9), BBC One launched The Interceptor - its new action thriller following the maverick Ash (Ot Fagbenle) as he and his team work to bring down a complex criminal network.
Fagbenle has compared the show to vintage TV classics like Starsky & Hutch and Kojak - comments echoed by writer Tony Saint, who also named The Professionals as an inspiration.
"It's got action in it, it's got an element of humour in it - and it's got a double-act at the heart, so there's a buddy element to it, which harks back to classics like The Professionals and Starsky and Hutch," said Saint.
"Kojak is another one - I think the balance between action and peril and fun, that's one of the big things [we tried to emulate]."
But was The Interceptor a modern classic, or a failed attempt to recapture past glories? Digital Spy wants your thoughts on the series.

BBC One's new thriller The Interceptor is intended as family fare - but without sacrificing any "grittiness", says star Ot Fagbenle.
Fagbenle - who plays lead Ash on the series - echoed creator Tony Saint's comments about the show evoking older series such as The Professionals and Starsky & Hutch.
"I think one of the most exciting things about the show is that it has this grittiness and heart-pumping action, but at the same time, the whole family can sit down and watch it," he told Digital Spy.
"Some crime shows get so gruesome and dark - you can't watch it with your 13-year-old without thinking 'Am I exposing them to something which could corrupt them and destroy them for life?' - this show manages to keep its grittiness and its fast-pace, but at the same time, it has that family drama feel, like those [older] shows - like Starsky & Hutch and Kojak did.

The Interceptor is BBC One's attempt to emulate classic shows like The Professionals, says creator Tony Saint.
Saint revealed at a recent press screening that his new crime thriller was inspired by the '70s shows he'd enjoyed as a boy.
