Exclusive: A pair of YA drama series are coming to an end at Peacock.
The NBCU streamer has cancelled One Of Us Is Lying and Vampire Academy.
One Of Us Is Lying ran for two seasons, while Vampire Academy, which comes from Julie Plec, has ended after one.
Deadline understands that execs at Peacock were happy with both shows creatively but they just didn’t find the requisite audience to justify further seasons.
One Of Us Is Lying, which is based on Karen M. McManus’ novel, launched in October 2021 and was the first Peacock pilot to go to series. It was renewed for a second season earlier this year that aired in October 2022.
Vampire Academy was handed a straight-to-series order in May 2021 and premiered in September 2022.
Both shows come from Universal Studio Group.

The identity of snarky gossiper Simon Kelleher’s killer in season one was identified at the conclusion of Peacock’s One of Us is Lying season one. And, mini-spoiler alert, the gang took care of that problem (Rip Jake) but wound up creating a new one. Which, of course, leads us to season two.
The two-minute season two trailer reveals the Murder Club members will be tormented by “Simon Says” and forced into doing his/her bidding or else their involvement in Jake’s “disappearance” will be exposed. The trailer suggests the club should keep their friends close, but their secrets even closer.
Season two is set to premiere on October 20, 2022, however, New York Comic Con attendees were treated to a preview of the first episode along with a Q&a with the show’s stars. One of Us Is Lying finally has a premiere date.
The highly-anticipated teen drama launches Thursday, October 7, on Peacock.
The 8-episode season will roll out over the course of three weeks, with new episodes dropping in batches on Thursdays.
As a result, the rollout plan is as follows:
Episodes 1-3 will drop Thursday, October 7
Episodes 4-6 on Thursday, October 14
Episodes 7-8 on Thursday, October 21
It's a different way to do things, and HBO Max successfully shared some of its shows that way.
Netflix has been trialing it on reality series, but it seems to be doing well among people who watch scripted shows.
Based on Karen M. McManus's #1 New York Times best-selling novel, One Of Us Is Lying is the story of what happens when five high schoolers walk into detention, and only four make it out alive.

One of Us Is Lying is poised to be the next hit teen drama.
Based on Karen M. McManus’s New York Times best-selling novel, the series is the story of what happens when five high schoolers walk into detention, and only four make it out alive.
Everyone is a suspect, and everyone has something to hide.
It's a convincing hook, right?
It sounds like The Breakfast Club meets Elite, and the new teaser seems to back that up.
And, if you're tired of waiting week-to-week for answers, you'll be happy to know that Peacock releases all episodes at once.
That means you can get your binge on and dig into one of the most promising shows of the year when it launches.
The streamer is not revealing when the show will launch, beyond a "coming soon," but it should be within the next few months.

NBCUniversal revealed a lot of details regarding their new streaming service, which is called Peacock, which is obviously a nod to NBC’s iconic logo.
The company also unveiled its initial programming slate. We already reported on the reboot of Battlestar Galactica from Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail, as well as Saved By the Bell with Mario Lopez, Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Elizabeth Berkley set to star; and Punky Brewster, with Soleil Moon Frye set to reprise her role as the title character.
There are a lot of other original shows coming to Peacock, though, along with catalogue series and library films. There will also be original films that will be created by Universal Pictures, Focus Features, and DreamWorks Animation.
Peacock will launch in April of 2020. It will be both advertising and subscription supported streaming service. Details on pricing and distribution will be announced as it gets closer to launch.
