[ Anirban Roy
Until Aashpordha or Audacity, Anirban Roy made films in the Us. When he returned to his hometown Kolkata, he decided to adapt his long forgotten short story into a film. Aashpordha has been travelling to several film festivals like Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles where it won the Audience award, AFI Fest and New York International Film Festival.
The film has been sold for braodcast in three countries; Sbs (Australia), Svt (Sweden) and Chello Multicanal (Spain).
Here Anirban Roy talks about his experience and the story behind Aashpordha:
Tell us about Aashapordha.
A thirteen-year-old Indian girl dares to challenge the authority of her traditional father. That’s the basic plot line of Aashpordha (Audacity). It is a story of rebellion, where the small attains a victory over the big. It’s a tight slap on the face of the authoritarian in each one of us. For characters and relationships in the film,...

So far Big B and Madhuri Dixit have never really crossed paths. Years ago they were supposed to be paired together in J .P Dutta's film that was shelved. Later filmmaker Somnath Sen almost brought the 'forbidden' pair together. And failed.
Now we hear the Big B and Dixit are coming together in an unexpected way. He is all set to take over as the resident sutradhaar of the newly-incepted channel Life Ok. Madhuri, as we all know, has played a big hand in making this morality-based channel a success within a year. She sums up the shows, throws open discussions on dowry, widow remarriage, and other social issues and gets viewers interested in issues beyond entertainment.
Madhuri's one-year tenure as Life Ok's resident sutradhaar is about to end. We hear the channel, through its General Manager Ajit Thakur who shares a very close rapport with Big B, has roped...

These days it has become a trend of sorts for the major film production houses to launch a separate sub-division to make and promote different, out-of-the-box and unusual kind of cinema. So you have the Mukta Searchlight Films started by Mukta Arts, White Feather Arthouse Films launched by White Feather Films and Utv Spotboy, an independent arm launched by Utv which has given some really meaningful films in the recent past.
