Kevin Feige has not minced his words about the return of Iron Man, being very forthcoming with information about the undoing of Tony Stark’s death. As far as the head of the MCU is concerned, there is no way Tony whom we all knew and loved will be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/ Iron Man in Avengers: Endgame | Marvel Studios
Tony Stark’s sacrifice in Avengers: Endgame was the end point of a decade-long character arc, undoing which is definitely not on the cards for any future MCU projects. Given that Robert Downey Jr. is open to returning to the MCU and that the franchise is currently deep into its Multiverse Saga, the Iron Man alum could return to the MCU as a variant, one that has been long rumored to be coming to the franchise.

The Avengers is effortlessly one of the biggest fan favorites and best pieces of work created during the reign of Kevin Feige by Marvel Studios. Yet, as much of an utter piece of masterwork as it was with its set of heroes and the most perfect villain, not everything and everyone that filmmaker Joss Whedon had initially decided was included in it.

For instance, when it comes to the villain in the movie, Whedon originally had different plans. Instead of including just Tom Hiddleston’s Loki as the film’s iconic villain as he ended up being, he wanted to bring in another prominent antagonist, though this one would have been from Iron Man’s arc in the comics. However, Feige refused, and that was that.

Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man receives less fan love than these superheroes in the MCU. When fans were asked to poll on the best superhero trilogy in the MCU, most of them chose Chris Evans’ Captain America trilogy and James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy. While the first Iron Man film remains one of the best films in the 30 billion-dollar franchise, Downey Jr.’s third film had unfavorable opinions, which made it many people’s third favorite trilogy.

However, the critical and audience opinions are different cases from the box office numbers of these films. Interestingly, the controversial Iron Man 3 had box office earnings higher than any of the Captain America movies or the Guardians of the Galaxy movies.

The legacy of Marvel is embedded in the arc of Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans as Iron Man and Captain America respectively and no one cares less about their impact than Christian Bale. The actor who once portrayed an iconic DC character himself – came out the other end branded as a legend who never knew where to start when it came to Marvel.

As an official entrant into the Marvel universe, it is time to throw Bale under the microscope and study the indifference with which he handled an era of Cbm icons that had such a hold over the entire world for 11 straight years.

Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man will always be hailed as the movie that laid the groundwork for future comic book movies to come and dominate the box office. Having redefined the superhero genre, the film proved that the genre was well deserving of being explored and achieving critical and commercial success.

It’s a rough time for Call of Duty. On one hand, developers are decorating the franchise like a garden, fans are emphasizing them to water it more so it remains healthy. Since Modern Warfare 3‘s release, players have been active more in pointing out the persisting issues than playing the game. Even Warzone has lost its charm and fans want the original one back so they can enjoy it.
More than its campaign, fans have been spending a lot of time in multiplayer and battle royale modes of the game. Developers tried to get ahead of the curve in contrast to the previous games, incorporating multiplayer aspects in the campaign to render them as open combat missions. Fans didn’t like it, they failed.

Put the two of MCU’s masters of metal into a battle, the obvious question would arise: Who would win in a fight between Iron Man and Magneto? Besides the obvious Magnetism factor supporting the powerful mutant, Iron Man will certainly not be ready to wave the white flag.

Iron Man is one of the most intelligent heroes in the entire MCU with his futuristic defense mechanism to aid his prowess over other strongest heroes or villains. He can beat down the green giant, Hulk, or Thor who is blessed with Godly powers. But again, what would be Iron Man’s ploy against the extremely powerful natural ability of Magneto?

“Guardians of the Galaxy” star Karen Gillan thinks her Marvel Cinematic Universe character Nebula has warmed up a bit by the franchise’s third film.
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” sees the blue daughter of Thanos assume a bigger role in the Guardians because her sister Gamora is not the same as she was before the events of “Endgame.” The blip, reversed by Ironman’s snap with Thanos’ gauntlet of Infinity Stones, somehow brought back an earlier version of Saldaña’s green guardian, who died at the hands of Thanos when he sacrificed her on a magical cliff to aquire one of the Infinity Stones.

One of the bigger missed opportunities within Marvel's Cinematic Universe might lie in its introduction of Riri Williams, aka Ironheart. Riri was folded into the Marvel Comics canon in 2016 as Iron Man's legacy counterpart. As Riri grew on the pages of the comics, she amassed quite the following, validating Black female comic lovers -- and aspiring Black women in Stem -- with each new adventure. She was a fascinating foil to Tony Stark's privilege and snark, and a lot of fans hoped to see their dynamic eventually play out on the big screen. But the MCU went a different way, with Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man mentoring an all-new Spider-Man (played by Tom Holland) before ultimately meeting his demise in "Avengers: Endgame."
By the time Riri was finally introduced in "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," Iron Man was long gone. His legacy still lives on in Riri — after all,...

Robert Downey Jr. experienced a career resurgence after being cast as the Marvel superhero Iron Man.
But before taking the role, a nervous Downey went to another Marvel superhero in Wesley Snipes for some sage advice.

Downey was already a somewhat decorated actor in the 80s and 90s with film credits like Chaplin and Natural Born Killers to his name. But his addiction to drugs and alcohol, in combination with a reckless lifestyle, risked sabotaging his career entirely.

2022 was full of action-packed hit movies like Top Gun: Maverick, Rrr, and Bullet Train. Despite being a Telugu-language film made for the Indian market, Rrr became one of the biggest surprise hits of the year in the US and has been winning big since its release. The movie has put the actors and director on the map, and two of its stars now want to be the next Iron Man.
‘Rrr’ has been breaking records since its release
Rrr is a fictional retelling of the friendship and lives of two real-life revolutionaries, Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju, in the 1920s. The movie takes on a What If? type of format exploring the undocumented period in the revolutionaries’ lives as they begin to fight for their country.
Rrr draws attention to the abuses and inequalities of colonial rule and follows the real-life Indian heroes teaming up against their British oppressors.

It might seem like only yesterday we were listening to Tems’ rendition of “No Woman, No Cry,” but just two months after Black Panther: Wakanda Forever roared its way to the top of the box office, Ryan Coogler’s superhero showstopper has landed on Disney+. As well as securing Letitia Wright’s Shuri as the new Black Panther, we had an Oscar-worthy turn from Angela Bassett and the introduction of Tenoch Huerta as Namor (dropping the Sub-Mariner suffix).
Doing what the MCU does best, it also queued a ton of potential projects. Alongside another war with the Talokan people in the mythical Black Panther 3, there was the tease of Phase 5’s Thunderbolts and a possible Midnight Angels spin-off. One arc (reactor) we know is directly tied to Wakanda Forever is Chinaka Hodge’s Ironheart. However, is the technological whizz-kid also setting up the return of the original MCU foe?

“Why did I take this job?” James Gunn opened his remarks to a group of journalists on Monday, when he and Peter Safran unveiled the first chapter of their plans for next 10 years of DC Studios content. It’s a good question considering the gig came with more than a few headaches to deal with the very day they stepped on the Warner Bros. lot.
“The history of DC is pretty messed up,” Gunn said. He rattled off everything from the Arrowverse, the Dceu, two versions of “Justice League,” and several other series — it would be a heroic effort just to keep track of them. Even Gunn’s own “The Suicide Squad” and “Peacemaker” added to the clutter and confusion.
“No one was minding the mint,” he continued. “They were just giving away IP like they were party favors to any creators who smiled at them. What we are going...

With the MCU seemingly getting bigger every single day, audiences have long speculated that some of the original Avengers that have been around since the beginning might be close to calling it quits. After all, we as fans might want to see the beloved characters time after time, but actors and actresses are real people and understandably want to move on to other things.
So, with beloved heroes like Iron Man, Steve Rogers, and Black Widow meeting their end (as well as rumors that more will follow in the upcoming Phase 5 & 6) many believe that the MCU will soon allow some of the younger heroes to take over. It certainly doesn’t seem to be a coincidence that so many young characters have been introduced throughout Phase 4 and a Young Avengers movie (while not confirmed) does seem imminent. So, with that in mind, how many of these adolescent universe savers could...

The Incredible Hulk, created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee in 1962, is a character born more from universal monster movies and 1950s sci-fi than more modern notions of complex, interlaced comic book lore. In the original comic books, a spindly physicist named Bruce Banner was exposed to a strange type of radiation while saving a soldier from a nuclear bomb test. Rather than killing him, the radiation mutated his body into that of a bulky, over-muscled brute. He eventually shrunk back to his normal size, but Bruce eventually found that whenever he got angry, he would transform back into an unstoppable radioactive ogre. Indeed, he was so angry, he couldn't speak or think clearly.
The Hulk became one of the more popular characters in a new wave of Marvel Comics that debuted in the 1960s. He was popular enough to be included in the Avengers, a mash-up superhero team comic...

Has there been anything more satisfying to watch than the long-overdue career resurgence of Ke Huy Quan? If there is, we don't want to know about it. Toys have been a part of marketing for shows and films for a long time. The Masters of the Universe line of action figures came before the animated series, as we learned in the Netflix docuseries "The Toys That Made Us." The first "Star Wars" film toys were part of a mail-away campaign in 1978 before they were ready to be shipped. Toy marketing has also caused controversy in the past. Just think of the #WheresRey campaign when her figure was left out of a "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" Monopoly set.
According to an interview /Film's own Rafael Motomayor did with animation writer Henry Gilroy, toys were a big reason for the cancelation of his animated series "G.I. Joe: Renegades." The show ran on The Hub from 2010 through 2011 for a single 26-episode season before being scrapped.

Chris Hemsworth’s Thor Odinson is now the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) superhero with the highest number of solo films after his newest venture, “Thor: Love and Thunder” in 2022. However, if you count all four Avenger movies he has appeared in as well, this mighty God of thunder truly exemplifies hard work!
Thor’s journey has taken him from a brash, exiled heir to an anguished brother and son. The Blip brought about his decline as he plunged into a hermit-like existence of carbs and gaming, before ultimately emerging as a roving cosmic pirate searching for where exactly he belonged in the universe. Through it all, Thor persevered through love gained (and lost), suffering great losses such as losing an eye only to triumphantly save everyone once more; so what lies ahead?

Four years after his climactic defeat, Josh Brolin's Thanos remains one of the best villains in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. Sure, the bar is often disappointingly low, but even when it comes to the best of the best, The Mad Titan who orchestrated the Infinity Saga is high on the list. From his towering stature and army of followers to his complex moral philosophy, he spent nearly a decade as a growing threat to Earth's mightiest defenders. Despite how hard Tony Stark prepared for an alien invasion, when Thanos finally touched down on Earth, it took two movies (and the trauma of The Blip) for them to scrape by with a win. And don't even get me started on the collateral damage.
It's also Brolin's performance that makes Thanos a next-level antagonist: this isn't villainy just for the sake of evil. He wholeheartedly believes that he can...

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is brimming with stories of redemption, but Robert Downey Jr.'s behind-the-scenes journey might just be the greatest one of them all. I still remember the moment I found out Downey had been cast in the role of Tony Stark. As a comic fan, it seemed to me like the most pitch-perfect casting imaginable. There was no better actor for the role, but when "Iron Man" was released in 2008, he was anything but a sure bet. Despite being undeniably talented, there was a point when Downey was more infamous than famous.
Having spent much of the '90s and a bit of the early aughts mired in controversy due to his ongoing struggles with drug addiction, Downey was a persona non grata in Hollywood, one whose habits had made him uninsurable. The actor cleaned up sometime in 2003, but anyone who's battled addiction will tell you that...

This article contains some MCU spoilers
With the Marvel Comics we know today being founded in 1939 (originally known as Timely Comics), there are decades of stories and characters ready to be adapted for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Navigating a Galactus-sized franchise like the MCU means we expected some characters would be lost to the Multiverse.
Whether it’s old favourites stopping by for a cameo or a brand-new addition being saved for another day, it’s more than the odd scene being left on the cutting room floor. Sometimes, whole characters are given the boot and banished to Gorr the God Butcher’s Shadow Realm. Saddle up because here are 12 characters who were once cut from the MCU.

Writing for one or two main characters can be difficult, but when your TV show or film has an ensemble cast playing lead roles, it is infinitely more challenging to balance them all. Joss Whedon has had to do that more than once. Whedon, of course, is responsible for projects like "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" "Angel," "Cabin in the Woods," "Firefly," its sequel, "Serenity," and "The Avengers."
Even for a writer whose ensemble work has been praised (and reexamined as on-set standards are reevaluated and allegations about his behavior emerge), making sure each character gets their due and plays a role was a difficult prospect. Whedon spoke about this in an interview with Den of Geek back in 2012, right before the release of both "The Avengers" and "Cabin in the Woods." He called balancing this sort of thing a "nightmare," and it's easy to see why that might be.

Gerard Butler can be seen in the new action thriller Plane with Mike Colter, and IndieWire reports on the Scotsman’s attraction to old-fashioned, mid-budget, non-franchise action films. While not making Marvel-level properties, or even Fast & Furious-level, Gerard Butler is a lower-key action star who has been consistently putting out audience-pleasing thrill rides. Butler revealed that Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr., emailed the 300 star and begged him for more Olympus Has Fallen films.
“Robert Downey Jr. wrote me the nicest email after Olympus Has Fallen. This is the same vibe. He’s like, ‘We need more of these movies.’ These are the movies when I was in New York as a kid, and people would shout at the screen and throw things and be like, ‘No!’ and applaud and cheer. After taking the world by storm last year, the epic Indian action movie "Rrr" is basically taking a victory lap by screening in select theaters for a number of special engagements that include Q&As with the people who brought it to life. At the Music Box Theater in Chicago, Il, /Film staffers were in the crowd when director S.S. Rajamouli revealed that a sequel is in the works. Then, ahead of their appearance at this year's Golden Globes, where the movie has been nominated for Best Picture - Non-English and won the award Best Original Song for the absolute banger "Naatu Naatu," some west coast based team members were present at Los Angeles' legendary Tcl Chinese Theater with Rajamouli and star N. T. Rama Rao Jr. in attendance to answer questions about their beloved opus.

His favorite Marvel character is Iron Man. “He’s so relatable,” Ntr Jr. said. “He is someone like us. He does not have superpowers. He doesn’t come from a different planet. He’s not someone who has been put through a science experiment and become the Hulk.”

AMC Networks has acquired the rights to John Maxim’s popular Bannerman spy book series for development as a potential television series. The project hails from Shane Black, Greg Nicotero via his overall deal with AMC Networks, and Brian Witten. Jeffrey Maxim is also attached as a consulting producer. It was announced today during AMC Networks’ TCA presentation in Pasadena, CA.
The book series consists of five titles: The Bannerman Solution, The Bannerman Effect, Bannerman’s Law, Bannerman’s Promise and Bannerman’s Ghosts.
The Bannerman Solution synopsis: “Paul Bannerman was once his nation’s deadliest weapon – a top covert operative heading up the most lethal group of contract agents and network specialists in all of Europe. Now Bannerman is a liability – an unpredictable loose cannon that could irreparably damage America’s shaky intelligence structure, if he chose to.

Don Cheadle had to block out the white noise when it came to joining the MCU.
The Oscar nominee was cast as the replacement for Terrence Howard’s character Lt. James Rhodes (aka War Machine) in the “Iron Man” sequel. Cheadle went on to appear in seven Marvel movies, plus the Disney+ series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” and “What If…?.”
Yet, Cheadle is now revealing how he committed to the MCU before “Iron Man 2” in 2010.
“I was at my kid’s laser tag birthday party. They called me and said, ‘This is what’s happening and we’re giving you the offer. If you don’t say yes then we’re going to the next person. This is going to happen very fast,'” Cheadle recalled to GQ. “‘Why don’t you take an hour and decide if you want to do it.'”

Deals in Hollywood are made in all sorts of places, but one particularly strange one was Don Cheadle signing on with Marvel while at his kid’s laser tag party…and he had just two hours to do it.
In a new interview with GQ, Don Cheadle recalled that fateful day in which he was asked to play James Rhodes/War Machine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, taking over for Terence Howard. “I was at my kid’s laser tag birthday party…They called me and said, ‘This is what’s happening and we’re giving you the offer. If you don’t say yes then we’re going to the next person. This is going to happen very fast. Why don’t you take an hour and decide if you want to do it.’ It was a six-movie deal! In an hour I have to decide?”

The question "What if?" can lead you down some interesting rabbit holes if you're interested in Hollywood history. For example, what if Michael J. Fox didn't play Marty McFly in the "Back to the Future" movies? Or what if Robert Downey Jr. didn't get the role of Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? And what if Shrek was voiced by a different "Saturday Night Live" alum? If you look around the internet, you can find some fascinating answers to these questions. In fact, if you look hard enough, you may even be able to peer into the multiverse and get a glimpse of Eric Stoltz in Marty's iconic orange vest or the late, great Chris Farley as the multi-layered ogre.
If alternate cinema history like this interests you, then here's another fun fact: Award-winning filmmaker Oliver Stone initially had a few other up and coming movie stars in mind for "Platoon,...

Can anyone imagine the Marvel Cinematic Universe without Chris Hemsworth‘s Thor? As of now, he is currently the only original Avenger who is still active. We have lost Iron Man and Black Widow, Captain America has happily retired, Hawkeye has passed the torch to Kate Bishop, and Hulk isn’t exactly Hulk anymore. Well, he’s Professor Hulk, and it seems he’s more content with being more of a mentor figure to upstart heroes. As for the other Avengers, they may be dead or retired, but we have to remember that this is still a cinematic universe based on Marvel Comics. Nobody

On May 4, 2012, Marvel Studios changed the game for superhero movies when it assembled "The Avengers" in theaters, four years after the build up to it started with Samuel L. Jackson's appearance in the post-credits scene for "Iron Man." A few months after its record-breaking theatrical run, True Believers were able to bring Earth's Mightiest Heroes home and watch "The Avengers" whenever they wanted, with the DVD, Blu-ray, and digital download releasing on September 25, 2012 in the United States.
In the ten years since the acclaimed Phase One finale received its home media release, a lot has changed both on and offscreen. After Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye joined forces, the Marvel Cinematic Universe continued to expand exponentially with banger after banger (though some arguably didn't go as hard as others). The characters of Marvel Comics were more popular than ever and the masses clamored for more.

Some exciting news for the true believers out there.
Disney+ announced on Wednesday that a Stan Lee documentary is in the works, and will be released sometime next year. The announcement came on the 100th anniversary of the great comic book creator and zing-slinger’s birth.
Lee, who died in 2018 at the age of 95, is credited with creating or co-creating most of the mainstays of the Marvel canon, including Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Black Panther, the Incredible Hulk, and the X-Men.
“Stan the Man” can also boast another incredible character creation: himself. Though mainstream culture treating comics as anything other than the lowest form of entertainment is a relatively new phenomenon (due largely in part to the wild success of the film adaptations of Lee’s output), Lee still somehow made a name for himself as a wisecracking, upbeat and lovable Noo Yawka with a quick quip and a smile.

(Welcome to The Daily Stream, an ongoing series in which the /Film team shares what they've been watching, why it's worth checking out, and where you can stream it.)
The series: "Frisky Dingo"
Where you can stream it: HBO Max and Adultswim.com (with a cable login)
The pitch: Before going on to make the wildly popular spy spoof series "Archer" on FX, Adam Reed teamed up his "Sealab 2021" co-creator Matt Thompson to create "Frisky Dingo," a bizarre animated comedy spoofing superheroes and villains, American politics, and celebrity culture. A warning: the series debuted on Adult Swim in 2006, airing late at night, and it did just about everything possible to push the envelope, so some of the jokes have aged pretty poorly. However, if you can look past a few gags that absolutely wouldn't fly in 2022 (and for good reason), "Frisky Dingo" is a wildly funny and oddly prescient little cartoon,...

When Stanley Martin Lieber was born on December 28, 1922, no one could have guessed that he would grow up to be a titan of pop culture. The New Yorker had aspirations of writing the "great American novel" in his youth, but after landing an assistant job at Timely Comics in 1939 with the help of his uncle, he went from filling ink wells and getting lunch for comic book artists to filling in text bubbles on "Captain America Comics" by 1941. And that's when Lieber became Stan Lee.
Now, Lee is celebrated as the architect of Marvel Comics as we know it today. In addition to taking a more realistic approach to superheroes and presenting "the world outside our windows," he co-created iconic characters alongside fellow comic book legends Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko such as Spider-Man, the X-Men, Iron Man, the Fantastic Four, Daredevil, the Hulk, Black Panther, and the Avengers.
