James Rich (III) was born in Alabama, grew up in Hartford, CT, and now calls New York City home. He holds a BFA in Musical Theater from Syracuse University. He guest-starred on classic TV shows such as "Everybody Loves Raymond" and "As The World Turns." He also starred as Earnest Slater in "Earnestly Yours," earning the 2024 Award for Best Actor in a U.S. Short Film at the Seattle Film Festival. Highlights of his stage career include singing back-up for the legendary Harry Belafonte and playing Benny in the first company of the Broadway musical "Rent" outside of New York.
James wears many hats in the creative arts world, easily switching between performing and working behind the scenes. He was Randall Christiansen's Assistant Designer for the Emmy Award-winning Season 2 of "Dancing with the Stars." He's also the creator of "There Was a Boy," a Broadway-style musical about his music idol, Nat King Cole.
Away from performing, James enjoys scriptwriting, biking around Manhattan, photography, and is a passionate dog lover.
