India’s Ministry for Information and Broadcasting has announced an increase in the country’s production incentive from a 30% to 40% rebate on qualifying spend, with a cap of $3.6M (Rs300m).

India has considerably enhanced incentives for filming in the country. The Indian federal government will reimburse up to 40% of qualifying production expenditure, up from the 30% level that was announced when the incentives were revealed at Cannes last year.
The cap limit for the reimbursement has also been significantly raised from a maximum of INR25 million to INR300 million ($3.5 million). There is now an additional 5% rebate bonus for significant Indian content.
International productions that have been granted shooting permission by India’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Ministry of External Affairs (for documentaries only) since April 1, 2022 will be eligible for this incentive scheme. The incentives will be disbursed in two stages, interim and final. The final disbursement claim can be made once the project is complete in India. New Delhi, Aug 6 (Ians) With exactly two months to go for the 2023 Odi World Cup, hosts India are still trying to figure out their best possible 15 men for the mega event and there are discussions around seasoned off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin’s inclusion in the squad as well.
The 36-year-old, who has not played a 50-over game in 18 months, was not part of India’s Odi squad for the recently concluded three-match series against West Indies. However, he could still be considered for the Odi world given his versatility.
A great thinker of the game, Ashwin could ball at any stages of an Odi match, is a more than handy batter lower down the order and has years of experience behind. An Indian Express report had recently said that Ashwin’s name is being discussed between the selectors and team management as they want variety in their spin department.

New Delhi, Aug 3 (Ians) Former India opener Aakash Chopra believes that one major difference in the build-up of the 2023 Men’s Odi World Cup as compared to the preparation undertaken by the 2011 tournament-winning team, has been the significantly lesser time of playing matches as a cohesive unit.
After the end of 2007 Odi World Cup and before the start of the 2011 edition, India had played 118 ODIs. With the 2023 World Cup being just over two months away, India have played just 57 matches after the end of the 2019 edition in England. Moreover, India has played 42 ODIs since the start of 2021, with 44 players being tried out, highlighting that a settled combination hasn’t been achieved yet.
“There is one significant difference in the build-ups of 2011 and 2023 World Cups, which is the amount of T20 cricket being played. I still remember we were very reluctant to play T20 cricket even after winning the inaugural T...

New Delhi, Aug 2 (Ians) India’s batting unit impressed collectively, helping the visitors to a huge 200-run win over the West Indies in the 3rd and series-deciding Odi at Trinidad on Tuesday.
The openers Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill put on 143 in only 19.4 overs before stand-in skipper Hardik Pandya and Sanju Samson helped India set the hosts a challenging 352-run target.
Thereafter, the West Indies struggled to find any momentum, and paceman Shardul Thakur took 4/37 in 6.3 overs as Shai Hope’s side were bowled out for only 151 in 35.3 overs. The other pace bowler Mukesh Kumar returned with figures of 3/30 while spinner Kuldeep Yadav took 2/25.
JioCinema expert Aakash Chopra was impressed with Thakur’s performance, saying: “In the previous match itself, Shardul took three wickets. He gets very limited credit for the way he bowls. I am trying to figure out how he takes so many wickets and why he is expensive,...

Tarouba, Aug 2 (Ians) India all-rounder Shardul Thakur said he is not among those who play for a spot in the World Cup but remains committed to making a significant impact in helping the team win.
On Tuesday, Thakur showcased his prowess with a remarkable spell, taking four wickets for 37 runs. His performance played a crucial role in dismantling the West Indies batting line-up as India secured a massive 200-run victory in the final Odi, ultimately clinching the three-match series 2-1.
“I don’t think that way, I am not playing only to seal a spot in the World Cup. I am not that type of a player. If I keep that (World Cup spot) in mind and play, I won’t be able to play well,” Shardul told reporters after the match.
“If I don’t get picked for the World Cup, it’s their (selectors) call. I can’t do much about it.

Roseau (Dominica), July 13 (Ians) Dropped for the World Test Championship (Wtc) Final at The Oval, Ravichandran Ashwin came up with a strong performance as his record-breaking five-wicket haul helped India bundle out hosts West Indies for a paltry 150 in their first innings in the opening Test match of the series at Windsor Park here.
Ashwin claimed 5-60 in 24.3 overs as he claimed the wickets of West Indies skipper Kraigg Brathwaite (20), Tagenarine Chanderpaul (12), Alick Athanaze (47), Alzarri Joseph (4) and Jomel Warrican (1) as swung things India’s way with a brilliant bowling effort after West Indies won the toss and elected to bat first.
This was Ashwin’s 33rd five-wicket haul in an innings in Tests as he helped India take a dominant position in the first Test.

Roseau (Dominica), July 12 (Ians) Debutant left-handed batter Alick Athanaze showed some resistance and was looking like putting a price on his wicket before falling for 47 as India pocketed another session in their kitty by reducing West Indies to 137/8 in 58 overs at Tea on Day 1 of first Test at Windsor Park, here on Wednesday.
After picking four wickets in the first session, India picked four more wickets, two of which were taken by Ravichandran Ashwin, while conceding only 69 runs. The visitors’ are now just two wickets away to bowl out West Indies for a below-par total.
The hosts’ below-par batting effort was caused mainly by some reckless shot selection, including of an assured, calm and composed looking Athanaze. The batters were perishing when trying to attack on deliveries without showing adequate patience, leaving a lot left to be desired.

Roseau (Dominica), July 12 (Ians) Ravichandran Ashwin, Shardul Thakur and Ravindra Jadeja were among the wickets for India as the visitors pushed West Indies on the backfoot by reducing them to 68/4 in 28 overs at lunch on Day 1 of first Test at Windsor Park, here on Wednesday.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, West Indies openers captain Kraigg Brathwaite and Tagenarine Chanderpaul were solid against fast bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Jaydev Unadkat. With the ball not providing them much swing, Brathwaite and Chanderpaul were able to get through the first half-hour without any major discomfort.
But Ashwin’s early entry dramatically changed the course of the session. The ace off-spinner began by castling Chanderpaul with a skiddy delivery coming from wide of crease in the 13th over, making him the first Indian bowler and fifth overall to dismiss a father-son duo in Test cricket.

[Editor's Note: This post contains spoilers for The Big D series premiere, "The Big Day One."]
Whether you prefer to call them "FBoys" or "douchebags," it's shaping up to be a summer of male debauchery on TV. Wherever you look — streaming or cable, scripted or unscripted — there are sleazeballs lurking, waiting for the right moment to turn on the charm and wheedle their way into the lives of their unsuspecting victims. With so much of the summer ahead of us, it's too early to crown a D-Bag of the Year, but USA's aptly titled dating show The Big D has already offered up a strong contender: Thakur, a serial philanderer who shamelessly lies to his new housemates in order to save himself from elimination.

Chennai, May 25 (Ians) Pacer Akash Madhwal picked a sensational five-wicket haul (5/5) and helped Mumbai Indians advance to Qualifier 2 of Ipl 2023 with a thumping 81-win over Lucknow Super Giants in Eliminator at the Ma Chidambaram Stadium, here on Wednesday.
Winning the toss on a pitch, where Lucknow skipper Krunal Pandya had quipped he would have liked to bat first too, Mumbai made 182/8, Cameron Green and Suryakumar Yadav chipped in with 41 and 33 respectively, while Tilak Varma hit a 22-ball 26.
But the real impetus came from impact player Nehal Wadhera, who slammed a crucial 23 off 12 balls, including hitting 14 runs in the final over, to take Mumbai to a challenging total. In reply, Lucknow were 68/2 in eight overs at one point in their chase of 183. But from there, they fell like a pack of cards to be 101 all out in 16.3 overs.

Chennai, May 24 (Ians) Impact Player Nehal Wadhera’s vital late blitz 23 off 12 balls, which included hitting 14 runs in the final over, took Mumbai Indians to a challenging 182/8 against Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator clash of Ipl 2023 at the Ma Chidambaram Stadium, here on Wednesday.
At one point, Mumbai looked all set for a 200-plus total, as they raced to 98/2 at half-way mark. But Naveen-ul-Haq halted Mumbai’s charge by using his slower deliveries to pick 4/38, with Yash Thakur and Mohsin Khan taking 3/34 and 1/24 respectively.
Apart from Wadhera’s lusty hits at the end, Cameron Green and Suryakumar Yadav chipped in with 41 and 33 respectively, while Tilak Varma hit a 22-ball 26 for Mumbai.

Asian content heavyweights revealed their thoughts on several subjects at a panel called “The Asian Wave in 2023 and Beyond” on March 13, the opening day of FilMart in Hong Kong.
The lively session, moderated by Variety‘s Asia editor Patrick Frater, featured Sebastian Kim, director of international content sales and acquisition at Korea’s Cj Enm, Sanmesh Thakur, executive VP and territory head, Asia Pacific, at India’s Zee Entertainment Enterprises and Ziraviss Vindhanapisuth, VP, international business at Thailand’s Bec World Public Company.
The evergreen topic of co-production was discussed in some depth. Kim said: “We’ve been looking for this formula for decades and for now, we find that the best formula of co-production is more like an adaptation of the original — A place to B place production — that’s how we’ve been doing it.”

New Delhi, Sep 18 (Ians) The recent Supreme Court judgement, which allowed Bcci to make amendments in its constitution to relax the much-debated and mandatory three-year cooling-off period, has paved the way for Bcci president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah to continue for another term in office.
As per the new order, the cooling-off period for office-bearers will kick in after two consecutive terms at either the Bcci or at the state association level. So the office-bearers can now have a maximum of 12 years at one go: Two three-year terms at the state association level and two three-year terms at the Bcci, and after this, the cooling-off period will be applicable.
Before joining Bcci in October 2019, both Ganguly and Shah had already served one term each at the state level, which meant that they would have been disqualified under the existing rule. However, the latest Supreme Court decision has come...
