Interscope Records and Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace are flipping the Hollywood Palladium to create an epic roller rink party to celebrate the re-release and 30th anniversary of Dr. Dre’s debut album, The Chronic.
Grammy-winning singer and Flipper’s partner Usher, along with co-founders Liberty Ross and Kevin Wall, will host the event on Saturday, a day before the 2023 Grammy Awards. Flipper’s original roller rink will be re-created, featuring a 4,700-square foot skating rink, specially made rink-side seating, live DJs playing throughout the night and a custom-built traditional skate hut with lockers and Flipper’s skate rental.
“I am so excited to bring Flipper’s back to its spiritual home. It’s a Hollywood homecoming,” said Ross, who is married to music executive Jimmy Iovine, one of Dr. Dre’s close friends and longtime business partners.

Entertainment tax used to be the excuse given to explain the dearth of international acts. Post the 2008 terror attacks, the lack of security became another. A number of bands have chosen cities like Bangalore, Delhi and Shillong over Mumbai. Def Leppard, an English rock band that was to perform in here in October 2008, cancelled their gig only days before the show, citing “recent serial blasts in various cities and the church burning fiasco” as the reason. Our biggest loss was Live Earth 2008, an initiative by producer, Kevin Wall and environmentalist, Al Gore. The concert was to include ...

Live Earth, the organization responsible for 2007's 24-hour Concerts for a Climate in Crisis, is asking you to run. For water, that is.
To raise awareness about (and help combat) the global water crisis, Live Earth, Dow Water & Process Solutions, and the Global Water Challenge are teaming up to host a global series of 6k runs/walks on April 18. It's been estimated that by 2025, two-thirds of the world will live in water scarce areas. In today's world, women and children in under-developed nations already walk as much as six kilometers a day to fetch water suitable for drinking, the inspiration for the 6k distance for the walk/runs.
"The first Live Earth event was largely about people at home watching concerts on TV. With this, we really want people to leave their house and participate, and really become engaged in solving the problem," Live Earth CEO Kevin Wall said at a press conference on Tuesday.
