A Sky News Australia anchor has made an apology live on air after his line of inquiry during an interview with a teenage fishing champion was widely slammed.
News.com.au reports that Peter Stefanovic, who hosts the First Edition flagship news show, made his apology after he was criticised for interviewing Northern Territory fishing champion Keegan Payne, and asking him about the alleged theft of two vehicles more than three years before.
Critics said Stefanovic’s questioning of the 19-year-old fisherman tapped into stereotypes of Indigenous youth in the region.
Stefanovic made his apology Monday, telling viewers:
“An apology from me, last Wednesday we invited Keegan Payne onto our show to discuss his win in the Million Dollar Fish competition in the Northern Territory,” Stefanovic said during First Edition on Monday.

Exclusive: Investigation Discovery is getting into the topical space with a dark twist.
The Warner Bros. Discovery-owned cable network is launching Crimefeed, a weekly, topical true-crime show hosted by Nancy Grace.
Crimefeed will launch at 11 p.m. Wednesday October 11. Deadline understands that nine episodes have been ordered.
It comes after Grace hosted her first ID show, ID Special Report: The Long Island Serial Killer, about the Gilgo Beach serial killings, in August.
Given the popularity of weekly true-crime podcasts, it marks an interesting step to air a topical series on television.
The series will dig into the top true-crime stories of the moment as they unfold in real time.
Grace will discuss cases with journalist Mara S. Campo, who is the Global News Anchor and Managing Editor for Revolt Black News, and former police sergeant and private investigator Derrick Levesseur, who previously hosted Breaking Homicide for ID.

CNN CEO Chris Licht “unequivocally” believes that America was served well by Donald Trump‘s town hall on Wednesday, as he defended his decision to showcase Trump while on a call to CNN staff Thursday morning.
“I absolutely unequivocally believe America was served very well by what we did last night,” Licht said on the call, per Semafor media reporter Max Tani.
Licht also said that he was “aware” that there have been “opinions and backlash” to the event but “there is so much that we learned last night of what another Trump presidency looked like.”
“While we all may have been uncomfortable hearing people clapping, that was also an important part of the story because the people in that audience represent a large swath of America,” Licht said on the call. The CEO also said that the “mistake” media made in the past was “ignoring that those people exist...

CNN unveiled an overhaul of its dayside lineup on Wednesday, with plans for morning and afternoon blocks of programming that will each feature anchor trios while emphasizing more energetic breaking news and event coverage.
The approach, the network indicated, would resemble the network’s special event coverage like election night, with a heavy use of graphics and standing anchors, along with ongoing updates from correspondents in the field. A recent example was the way that the network provided ongoing coverage last week of the House Speaker vote.
John Berman, Kate Bolduan and Sara Sidner will anchor a standalone program, based in New York, from 9 Am Et-noon Et on weekdays. Brianna Keilar, Boris Sanchez and Jim Sciutto will anchor from 1 Pm Et-4 Pm Et from Washington. The blocs will be produced in Atlanta. Inside Politics will remain at noon-1 Pm Et, anchored by John King.

Lullaby is the latest film from genre director John R. Leonetti, This time, working from a script by former WWE writer Alex Greenfield and Ben Powell, who also co-wrote The Sand, he’s unleashing the wrath of Lilith on new parents Rachel and John.
As the film opens the couple gets a package of baby things from Rachel’s mother. They belonged to Rachel’s sister Vivian who lost both her baby and her husband under strange circumstances. Why her mother would send them and why they would actually use them is one of life’s great mysteries.
But use them they do, especially a hymn found in an old book which seems to be the only thing that will calm baby Eli down. It’s not long...

Judy Woodruff will step away from the PBS NewsHour anchor desk on Friday, ending a chapter as one of the most trusted and well respected figures helming a newscast.
She will be handing the anchor duties to Amna Nawaz and Geoff Bennett, returning the broadcast to a co-anchor format, but Woodruff is not exiting. Instead, she’s embarking on a new assignment, traveling across America to try to make sense of the country’s divisions, which have only worsened in the decade that she has served as anchor. It’s perhaps fitting that she will be doing the assignment for NewsHour, which throughout its run has been dedicated to the type of nuance and in-depth reporting that is meant to inform and enlighten rather than ignite.

Viewership of “GMA3: What You Need to Know” jumped by around 11 last week when chatter began swirling about an affair between anchors Amy Robach and Tj Holmes. But once Monday’s broadcast rolled around — sans Robach and Holmes, as ABC News decided to bench the pair — numbers held steady before falling back to their usual range.
Between Nov. 28 and Nov. 30, the 1 p.m. timeslot of the “Good Morning America” companion afternoon strip was averaging 1.63 million total viewers, according to Nielsen. That was before the Daily Mail reported, on the evening of Nov. 30, that Robach and Holmes were romantically linked. The report quickly went viral on social media with additional speculation about the pair’s relationship and their respective marriages circulating in the tabloids.
The next day, Thursday, Dec. 1, an average of 1.81 million people tuned in to “GMA3.” This marked an 11 increase from the average of the three broadcasts prior,...
