Yeasir Arafat is an independent filmmaker who graduated from the University of Dhaka with a major in Theatre and performance studies in Bangladesh in 2019. Then he began to work as a musician, mainly a songwriter, and make experimental short films and documentaries. He is a Bangladeshi filmmaker who used a range of aesthetic styles to explore the social, economic, environmental climate change, and religious and cultural realities. He directs both fiction and documentary films. His skills as a musician and theatre artist led him to use a wide range of methods of acting, crafts, music, sound, set, light, and film as the language for his social activism. All his films discuss contemporary issues and cultural realities. His first film, "Billboard", got him the Best Screenplay award in 2022 at the 1st Jahangirnagar Independent Film Festival 2022 in Bangladesh and The Raw International Film Festival in Mumbai also got four selections from different Festivals. He has worked on over ten historical, Religious and anthropological documentaries covering arts, biography, religious harmony, and climate change.
