Full disclosure: Benjamin Shearn is a former contributor to The Playlist, so yes, this exclusive trailer belongs to someone who used to write for us. That being said, it seems we' re lucky enough to have some great talent pass through our doors (see Christopher Bell's trailer for "The Winds That Scatter"), and "Silk" is certainly something that grabbed our attention. Shaern's film centers on 100% Silk, the an independent electronic dance music label, and chronicles the June 2012 that saw four core acts from the shingle—La Vampires, Ital, Magic Touch, and Maria Minerva – head out on tour together through the U.K., Europe, and beyond. Full disclosure: Christopher Bell is a former contributor to The Playlist, so yes, we're promoting the work of someone on the site. But you know what? When he loses his job at a gas station, his optimistic attempts to navigate...

Full disclosure: Christopher Bell is a member of The Playlist family (even though he's not currently an active journo any longer), but he's also a budding filmmaker with some skill to boot, and with a new short film under his belt, we figured it might be nice to reciprocate all he's done for us and give him a little shine. “Bridges” is about a young woman (Joslyn Jensen) who faces a great dilemma. With her boss being a full-time working single mother, whose absence is made poignantly clear by being only a vocal presence in the film, Elizabeth becomes de facto mother/father/carer for Julian. When safety at the apartment is threatened, Elizabeth, like a mother bird,...
