What is Movie News After Dark? It’s a nightly movie and entertainment news column that, now that it’s a year old and feeling mature, is looking to bring you only the best links of the day. Think of it as your one-stop-shop for the best of the entertainment web. If you didn’t see it here, it probably wasn’t that good. If we missed it, just email it to neil@filmschoolrejects.com and we’ll consider it for tomorrow. We do this every night. We begin tonight with a new shot of Emma Stone in The Amazing Spider-Man as a funeral-going Gwen Stacy. She’s looking quite sad. I wonder who died. Oh right, they are telling the origin story of Spider-Man again. I know who’s going to die. Roger Erik Tinch, the curator of Reelizer, presents his The Top Ten Movie Posters of 2011 (Alternative Works), which includes art so good that it...

What is Movie News After Dark? It’s a nightly entertainment news column that collects all the best links of the day, then adds commentary. It is also glad to be back from its Christmas break and hopes you got everything you wanted. It got almost everything on its list. We begin this evening with a fun new image from Tim Burton’s upcoming stop-motion 3D animated film Frankenweenie. It comes to us via the folks at The Playlist, who are quick to remind us that said film is coming out in the fall of 2012. Perhaps this will be the Tim Burton film that allows us to forget the mistakes the director has made with 3D in recent years? AMC has ordered another season of the track-laying show Hell on Wheels, which is good, because I like that show. For those who have seen Cameron Crowe’s latest, this is likely to be good for a laugh...

"It out incepted 'Inception' which makes it one of the best science fiction films of the year so far." That's a claim made by Badass Digest blogger Roger Erik Tinch about the new prison drama "Stone," a limited release starring Robert De Niro, Edward Norton and Milla Jovovich that has so far only grossed $1.5 million domestically ($7 million worldwide). Tinch acknowledges that he's crazy for making such a statement, but I always love these kind of stretched theories about movies, particularly those that aren't high on moviegoers' radar. And I'll admit the post sparked my curiosity to finally check…...

There's a new site on the block ready to deal in all things badass! From Devin Faraci (formerly of Chud.com) and Fantastic Fest guru Tim League comes BadassDigest.com!
According to Faraci, "It's an extension of the Alamo Drafthouse experience. It's about being a movie lover but also about having fun."
Click on the link to let the badassery begin! Good luck with the new digs, guys! We can always use some more lunacy on the Net!
Devin issued the following statement to soon to be contributing writer to the new site, Brian Collins of Bloody Disgusting and Horror Movie a Day:
"Most of what I did at Chud was 'news' oriented - which usually involved linking to and repurposing news stories that originated elsewhere. I got a scoop or two in my day, but I was never as scoop oriented as Bloody is or Latino Review. Badass Digest...

Today saw the launch of Badass Digest, the super-secret Alamo Drafthouse project for which longtime film writer Devin Faraci recently left Chud. The ultra-cool digest opened with dozens of articles already penned and posted by Faraci (@devincf) and others by collaborators Roger Erik Tinch (@tinch) and Moises Chiullan (@moiseschiu). An eclectic mix of Faraci's musings on film and film-related happenings along with oddities from around the web, Badass Digest is fully integrated with Facebook and Twitter, allowing the "Badass Brigade" to immediately comment on and discuss articles with no pesky signup process.
In his introductory manifesto, Faraci promises "an unholy number of columns and features" including expanded coverage of food and booze as well as a return of his "Star Trekkin" column. Badass Digest is backed by Alamo Drafthouse owner Tim League and features links to the Drafthouse, Fantastic Fest, Mondo Tees and distribution company Drafthouse Films. The Badass Team...

Since the Academy announced yesterday that it'd narrowed a list of 89 films qualifying to run the Documentary Feature race down to 15 (and if you'd like to get acquainted with those 15, Roger Erik Tinch's list is a fine place to start), talk has centered not so much on the docs that have just leapt the first hurdle but on those that didn't make it - the ones that got, in a word, "snubbed" - particularly, as the New York Times' Dave Itzkoff notes, Michael Moore's Capitalism: A Love Story, Sacha Gervasi's Anvil! The Story of Anvil, Rj Cutler's The September Issue, James Toback's Tyson and Ondi Timoner's We Live in Public.

Hi, my name is Roger Erik Tinch and I’m a Fantastic Fest Virgin. As a matter of fact, I’m also an Alamo Drafthouse Virgin. And, before the n00b taunts start, it’s nothing I’m proud of and I plan to deflower myself rather quickly during the next five days at Fantastic Fest 2009. Now I’m not [...]...
