Zeynel Günbek

Zeyn'el, a Turkish indie folk Artist/Band... An Istanbulite by birth and upbringing, Zeyn'el's musical roots are in the Anatolian "asik/ozan" tradition. He plays ukulele, banjo, merlin and guitar, and is a singer and songwriter. He has also been working as a sound engineer in Turkish Rock music community for the last 12 years. He has worked in this capacity with many different musicians, including Leman Sam, Vega, Evrencan Gündüz, Madrigal, CanOzan, Batuhan Kordel, Su Soley, and in such well-known venues as Hayal Kahvesi Beyoglu, Shaft, Indigo and Alt Jazz. Having studied philosophy as an undergraduate, he is currently doing his PhD in Musicology at Istanbul Technical University, bringing the many facets of his background to bear on his studies on philosophy of music.
Besides having songs and recordings where he is the solo player and singer, Zeyn'el also likes loves the sound of a rock band, and frequently teams up with other musicans for stage performances and official recordings. Some of his musician bandmate are :
