When he moved from the Sydney Swans in 1987 to join his brothers Neale Daniher, Terry Daniher and Chris Daniher at the Essendon Bombers, they became the first quartet of brothers to play for the same club in a home-and-away match, and for the same team in a State of Origin match.
He was the last remaining player in the Australian Football League to have played for the South Melbourne Football Club when he retired at the end of the 1994 season.
