- Margot Davies was born in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. She was an actress, known for St. Patrick's Day (1938) and St. Simeon Stylites (1938). She died on May 20, 1972.
- Born in the early 1920s to Welsh parents, she was made an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in 1944.
- Gave up her stage career in 1939 when war broke out to work in a war office helping servicemen with their problems. In 1941 she began hosting the radio programme "Calling to Newfoundland from Britain" and continued hosting it until just before her death in 1972.
