Dark Shadows; Wrath of the Titans; Top Cat; Something from Nothing – The Art of Rap; Strawberry Fields
Heralded by a laugh-out-loud trailer that painted it as the kookiest comedy of the year, Tim Burton's Dark Shadows (2012, Warner, 12) arrived in cinemas as a head-scratchingly weird mess of a movie more notable for its deadpan drollery and bizarre tonal shifts than for the advertised rib-tickling kitsch. Based on an arcane TV show little known here in the UK, this casts Johnny Depp as 18th-century vampire Barnabas Collins, escaping centuries of entombment to reclaim his now ruined family estate in the cultural void of 1972.
Faced with rebellious teens, garish wardrobes and "tiny songstrels" hiding within television sets, Barnabas attempts to reassert his authority over Eva Green's witchy temptress, with the help of Michelle Pfeiffer's haughty matriarch, Helena Bonham Carter's sozzled shrink and an apparently ageless Alice Cooper. After last year’s success with the remake of Clash of the Titans, a sequel seemed inevitable. Now, Warner Home Video is releasing Wrath of the Titans, starring Sam Worthington, Ralph Fiennes and Liam Neeson on Tuesday, June 26. We have partnered with Whv to host a contest with one copy of the Blu-ray combo pack to be given away. Please note, we are not able to ship to Po Box addresses and winners must be within the United States.
A decade after his heroic defeat of the monstrous Kaken, Perseus (Worthington) the demigod son of Zeus (Neeson) is attempting to live a quieter life as a village fisherman and the sole parent to his 10-year old son, Helius. Meanwhile, a struggle for supremacy rages between the gods and the Titans. Dangerously weakened by humanity’s lack of devotion, the gods are losing control of the imprisoned Titans and their ferocious leader,...

Sometimes a little wrath can be a lot of a good thing.
The 2010 remake of "Clash of the Titans" knocked the 3-D glasses right off our faces, and from the looks of the trailer, the monsters in "Wrath of the Titans" will make the Kraken look like baby krill.
Sam Worthington reprises his role as Perseus, who just wants to live as a chill guy raising his kid, not the heroic son of Zeus who defeated the Kraken. But when Hades (Ralph Fiennes) and Ares (Edgar Ramirez) plot to overthrow Zeus (Liam Neeson) and bring Daddy Kronos and the rest of the Titans back to the throne, it's up to Perseus to save his dad and the human race from 'Titan'-ic annihilation. Guess the Greek gods tend not to get along at family reunions.
The ancient Greeks never go out of style, and you don't have to either with our godly awesome giveaway.

A lasting impact of the 1993 comedy Groundhog Day is that it changed the entire vocabulary of the day. Instead of being the sort of minor holiday that you forget about until your co-worker mentions it, a “Groundhog Day” has become a symbol for the day that must be lived over and over and over again—supposedly until you get it right. In science fiction, it’s known as a time loop. The time loop plot existed on television long before the film (some date it back to the 1961 Twilight Zone episode “Shadow Play,” although technically that is a repeated dream, not a repeated reality), however, the success of the film certainly influenced the popularity of the “time loop” plot, to the point where it has become a standard in the science-fiction/fantasy genre. Some are more successful than others.
Let’s review a few examples to see which shows nailed the Groundhog Day tribute,...

Being the highest-grossing film of all-time also comes with its downsides. James Cameron‘s epic topped TorrentFreak‘s list of the most pirated films of the year, taking the crown from J.J. Abram‘s Star Trek last year. Keep in mind the list is for piracy within 2010, not films released in 2010, hence Avatar‘s inclusion.
You can view the top 10 below, but I find it interesting to note Kick-Ass at number two. While it didn’t do gangbusters at the box office, it certainly garnered some attention. Green Zone, also failing at the box office, made quite a dent with pirates. It is also interesting to see the small-budget Oscar-winning The Hurt Locker on the list, when bigger blockbusters such as Toy Story 3 and Alice In Wonderland are nowhere to be found. See the list below and also check out the top-grossing actors of 2010, which we posted earlier this morning.

SpoilerTV Best Show Ever 2010 Winner: Supernatural
Update: We have the winner of the bracket competition and it is Kathleen "Lanmwolf"Bowles who wins a prize which is a $40 or UK Equivalent Amazon Voucher that they can use tobuy a Box Set of their choice. You can check your final results here, http://www.dawgsled.com/darkufo/welcome.asp and I finished in 62nd place, which a while back looked very unlikely so I'm quite happy with that.
Day 32: And we have our winner of the 2010 Best Show Ever competition and with a commanding final victory, Supernatural has seen off The Vampire Diaries to take the first title and congratulations to the show, and to everyone backing it throughout the various rounds. Tough for The Vampire Diaries as it never really got going until the last few hours, but by then it was far too late and Supernatural crossed the line first.

DreamWorks' How To Train Your Dragon returns to the top of the box office, as Kick-Ass doesn't quite match box office hopes and expectations in the Us...
While it's not exactly unusual, it's also pretty rare. A movie that was third place last week has somehow climbed to the top this week. A month into its release schedule, and DreamWorks' How To Train Your Dragon has made it to number one at the box office. It didn't do it on its opening weekend, yet, through very strong performances week after week, Dragon has finally flown to the peaks of Box Officedom. Huzzah! The flick picked up a strong $20 million this weekend.
Meanwhile, to steal a pun from the trailer, Kick-Ass was more like Ass-Kick. The long awaited geek-friendly superhero send-up flick, based on the hit comic book, turned out to be not so much of a hit. It's a good performance,...

The weekend boxoffice's titanic clash of genres may take until Monday to decide conclusively when final figures are released, but preliminary estimates showed Fox's action comedy "Date Night" bowing atop the domestic heap with $27.1 million.
Warner Bros.' action fantasy "Clash of the Titans" had a kraken good second frame with $26.9 million, as the 3D holdover fell less than expected from its opening tally, at 56%. The Sam Worthington starrer totes $110.5 million in cumulative coin.
DreamWorks Animation's "How to Train Your Dragon" enjoyed a ridiculously sticky third weekend, sliding a mere 13% to fetch $25.4 million in third place. Imax specialty venues contributed 12% of its weekend haul, as the Paramount-distributed pic piled cume to $133.9 million.
Hitting its sophomore session, Liongate's Tyler Perry dramedy "Why Did I Get Married Too?" dropped a big 62% to $11 million in fourth place, with a $48.5 cume. But Disney's Miley Cyrus starrer "The Last Song" dipped just 37% to $10 million in...

Warner Bros.' "Clash of the Titans" marched to a triumphant $61.4 million in weekend boxoffice to the top domestic rankings and seemingly validate the studio's move to convert the action fantasy into 3D imagery.
The Sam Worthington starrer boasts $64.1 million in cumulative boxoffice including Thursday night "preshows" in mostly 2D venues. During the weekend, "Titans" played in 3,777 theaters, including about 1,800 3D locations.
Elsewhere during a robust Easter weekend for moviegoing, Lionsgate bowed Tyler Perry's "Why Did I Get Married Too?" in second place with $30.2 million, the multihyphenate's second-biggest film opening to date.
Disney got a two-day jump on the session with Miley Cyrus starrer "The Last Song," as the romantic drama took in $16.2 million in fourth place during the weekend and $25.6 million since its Wednesday bow; both sums were substantially higher than anticipated.

Can a film really be expected to come out on top at the box-office with midnight screenings alone as it battles films targetting a younger demo that had played all day and during Spring Break no less? That appears to be Carl Diorio's angle at The Hollywood Reporter as he brings word Clash of the Titans earned $4.2 million from Thursday night and midnight performances in about 3,000 domestic theaters. The film tied for second for the day with The Last Song compared to $5 million for How to Train Your Dragon. Diorio calls it a "solid but unspectacular start" as most of the midnight screenings were in 2D, though over the weekend at least half of the film's showings will be in 3D in over 3,700 theaters.
So why is $4.2 million unspectacular? Avatar made $3.537 million in approximately 2,000 theaters over the course of its midnight run with 85% of those showings in 3D and Box...

School is back in session. Leaves are turning colors. Old shows are coming out of hibernation and new shows are getting their chance on the boob tube. Television is the hot place to be now, with celebrity guest appearances and television shows everywhere. Movie stars? What's that? And while I've long believed that Television is continuing to move closer and closer to another golden era (despite what VH1 and reality television may force you to think), we won't know until we watch.
Without further ado, I present to you a listing of Fall 2009 Television Premieres, with a couple of must sees (Squees!) and must misses (Mehs!). Please note that some premieres are listed that have already passed—I've left them on the list as a reference point for when that show will air and what channel it will be on.

Former TV leading ladies Kim Raver and Alyssa Milano are back with lead roles in ABC pilots: the drama "Inside the Box" and the untitled Ricky Blitt comedy, respectively.
In other ABC pilot castings, Ty Burrell is set to star in the comedy "My American Family"; John Patrick Amedori, Robert Wisdom and Jay Paulson have been added to "Happy Town"; Sharon Leal and Brooklyn Sudano have joined "Limelight"; and Leah Pipes has been added to the Dave Hemingson project.
ABC Studios' "Box" is set at a news network's Washington bureau. Raver, repped by Endeavor and Mosaic, will play a knockout blond reporter who once was considered the next Diane Sawyer.
Raver is the second "Lipstick Jungle" star, after Lindsay Price, to book a pilot. Like Price's role on ABC's "Eastwick," Raver's "Box" gig is formally in second position to "Jungle," whose chances to return have diminished.
