- Sam Marshall was born on July 18, 1900 in Catskill, New York, USA. He was an actor, known for Snakeville's Home Guard (1914), Snakeville's Most Popular Lady (1914) and The Bell-Hop (1915). He died on December 17, 1977 in El Paso, Texas, USA.
- Appeared as a child in several Essanay films shot in Niles, California. Two of them included films by Charles Chaplin.
- In later life, he worked as a reporter and then historian for the U.S. military. He was a brigadier general when he retired.
