Katherine Jackson, the matriarch of the Jackson family, has responded to her grandson, Bigi Jackson, amid an ongoing legal dispute concerning the late Michael Jackson’s estate.
The conflict arose after Bigi objected to his grandmother’s use of estate funds to cover her legal fees in a disagreement with the estate’s executors over the sale of Michael Jackson’s catalog to Sony. In a filing dated March 20, Katherine filed a response with her arguments in the matter.
In documents, Katherine alleges that the estate’s executors are excessively frugal in the distribution of funds to beneficiaries and asserts that they have the financial means to cover the requested costs. Her filing suggests that the executors have retained control over the estate’s assets, possibly to avoid the more liberal distribution requirements outlined in the trust. Given the estate’s current valuation of $1.5 billion, Katherine argues that the executors...

The family of Michael Jackson is divided over legal issues regarding his estate. Katherine Jackson is requesting that the estate pay her legal fees in relation to an appeals case she is pursuing. Michael’s son, Bigi Jackson, does not approve of his grandmother using estate funds for this purpose. Here are the inside details of the fight for Michael Jackson’s estate.
Co-Executors Make A $600 Million Business Deal With Sony
Attorney John Branca and A&r executive John McClain are the co-executors of Michael Jackson’s estate. Last year, the pair received a ruling in their favor in probate court. They wanted to sell half of Mj’s music catalog to Sony for a reported $600 million. The court ruling allowed them to move forward with the deal, even though Katherine Jackson was strongly against it.
Katherine Jackson is now trying to file an appeal to take back the court’s decision.

Michael Jackson’s son, Bigi, 22, (formerly known as Blanket), has taken his grandmother, Katherine Jackson, to court.
According to court documents, Bigi has requested that Katherine be prohibited from utilizing the late pop legend’s estate to finance her legal dispute against the executors regarding an undisclosed “recent transaction.”
Bigi’s argument centers around the notion that since the estate would not derive any “benefit” from Katherine’s appeal against co-executors John Branca and John McClain, it should not have to cover any of her legal costs.
The appeal pertains to the executors’ previous request for approval to proceed with an unspecified transaction. Although not explicitly named in the filing, it seems to be the Jackson estate’s estimated $600 million catalog sale to Sony.
Initially, Bigi and Katherine were aligned in opposition to the estate’s proposed transaction. However, after a court ruling last year in favor of the deal,...

Since January, the Michael Jackson biopic “Michael” has released a series of announcements of the film’s cast, including recent Oscar nominee Colman Domingo as Jackson’s father, Joe, Nia Long as Jackson’s mother, Katherine, and Miles Teller as John Branca, Jackson’s attorney and the co-executor of his estate. Each press release includes the same description of the film, promising a “riveting and honest portrayal of the brilliant yet complicated man” that will include both Jackson’s “undeniable creative genius” and his “human side and personal struggles.”
There is one significant aspect of Jackson’s life, however, that will make that promise practically impossible to fulfill: The multiple allegations that the King of Pop leveraged his global fame to groom prepubescent boys into a sexual relationship.

“With Jaafar, every look, every note, every dance move is Michael,” said producer Graham King in a statement. “He embodies Michael in a way that no other actor could.”

Earlier, it was revealed that Miles Teller of Whiplash and Top Gun: Maverick was in talks to join Antoine Fuqua’s Michael Jackson biopic, Michael. It was yet to be known as whom, but the speculation was that Teller would possibly play John Branca — Jackson’s high-powered attorney. Lionsgate, the studio behind Michael, has confirmed in a press release that Teller will, in fact, be playing Branca in the controversial musical biopic. Teller joins a cast that includes Michael’s real nephew, Jaafar Jackson, in the gigantic task of portraying the King of Pop, Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson, Nia Long as Katherine Jackson and Juliano Krue Valdi as Michael at a younger age.
The film is currently in production with Graham King, the Oscar-winning producer of such films as Bohemian Rhapsody, The Departed and The Aviator, on board as producer. The script comes from three-time Academy Award-nominated screenwriter John Logan.

Sources tell us that there’s no deal yet for Teller. The movie is currently shooing ahead of an April 18, 2025 theatrical release.
Teller, we hear, would play an attorney in the Michael Jackson biopic. Exactly which of Jackson’s attorneys, we will see. The late Howard Weitzman was known for defending Jackson and his estate, in particular against creditor claims and accusations of pedophilia. Then there was Mark Geragos, who assisted Jackson in the early stages of 2005’s People vs. Jackson molestation case, before getting replaced by Thomas Mesereau.

Lionsgate’s Michael Jackson biopic has cast Colman Domingo to play Joe Jackson, the controversial patriarch of the celebrated musical family.
Domingo, coming off a critically acclaimed and Oscar-nominated performance in Rustin, joins Michael, the biopic in production from Lionsgate and slated for a global release on April 18, 2025. The Michael Jackson biopic Michael has been dated for a global release on April 18, 2025.
Lionsgate is behind the project, which will be directed by Antoine Fuqua. Jackson‘s nephew Jaafar Jackson will play him in the film about the singer’s life. Universal Pictures has international rights for the film, excluding Japan.
Graham King, a seasoned hand at biopics with the Oscar-winning Queen film Bohemian Rhapsody under his belt, is producing along with John Branca and John McClain, who are the co-executors of the Michael Jackson estate. John Logan, who penned Gladiator and The Aviator, wrote the script.
According to Lionsgate, the film will cover all aspects of Jackson’s life, though it is unclear how — or even if — it will address the many controversies involving the late music icon, given that the biopic is being made in conjunction with his estate, which has defended him against accusations of sexually abusing children.

Now that projects are hoping to move forward after the creative unions and the studios settle their disputes, The Wrap has revealed that one of the productions that will be starting as soon as the SAG-AFTRA strike ends is Antoine Fuqua’s unenviable task of bringing the King of Pop’s story to the big screen. Universal looks to be starting something, as they will distribute “Michael” in theaters overseas. The Antoine Fuqua-directed Michael Jackson biopic, starring Jaafar Jackson as the King of Pop, is set to begin production after the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike. Lionsgate is producing the picture and will distribute in North America.
The movie will be produced by Graham King (producer of the $911 million-grossing and Oscar-winning “Bohemian Rhapsody”) and penned by John Logan. King will co-produce the film alongside John Branca and John McClain. The picture will have the participation of the co-executors of the Michael Jackson estate.
King has accumulated a strong track record for producing awards-friendly, commercially successful true-life tales. He has helped usher the likes of “Argo,” and “Ali” to the silver screen. He is currently working on an in-development Bee Gees biopic for Paramount.

Universal has taken the international rights to Michael Jackson’s biopic, Michael.
Lionsgate is behind the project, which will be directed by Antoine Fuqua. Jackson‘s nephew Jaafar Jackson will play him in the film about the singer’s life. The Universal deal encompasses all international rights, excluding Japan.
According to Lionsgate, the film will cover all aspects of Jackson’s life, though it is unclear how it will address the many controversies involving the late music icon, given that the biopic is being made in conjunction with his estate, which has defended him against accusations of sexually abusing children. Those accusations were returned...

Lionsgate and Universal Pictures International announced on Tuesday that Universal will serve as the international distributor for the Michael Jackson biopic Michael, starring the pop superstar’s nephew Jaafar Jackson, which we were first to report on. Uni will handle all territories apart from Japan, with Lionsgate repping the film on the domestic front.
Antoine Fuqua will direct the film from a script by three-time Oscar nominee John Logan, with Graham King (Bohemian Rhapsody) producing alongside John Branca and John McClain, the co-executors of the Michael Jackson Estate. Production is set to kick off as soon as the SAG-AFTRA strike resolves.
Michael promises to give audiences a never-before-told and in-depth portrayal of the complicated man who became the King of Pop. The film will explore all aspects of Jackson’s life, including his most iconic performances that led him to become one of the most beloved entertainers of all time.

Director Antoine Fuqua is teasing Michael, the Michael Jackson biopic he is set to work on and says he’s “blown” away by the “uncanny” resemblance between the lead star and his real-life uncle, the King of Pop.
Jaafar Jackson, who is the son of Michael’s brother Jermaine Jackson, will play the iconic singer in the Lionsgate biopic.
“It’s uncanny how much he’s like Michael,” Fuqua told EW in a recent interview. “Sounds like him, dances like him, sings. It’s really uncanny. Graham King, who is a fantastic producer, found him, and introduced him to me, and I was blown away.”
Although the film is on hold due to the writers and actors strike, Fuqua said the biopic will retell Michael’s story “as we know it” and would tackle some of the controversies the singer was involved in during his lifetime.
“Just to tell the facts as we know it,...

Our film tells us that Sisu is an untranslatable Finnish word, for extreme courage. I would debate who that word is supposed to apply to, as our protagonist here is an unfeeling mass murderer Perhaps it refers best to the rape victims of the Nazis, doing their best to survive.
Sisu had me thinking about real history. If I were to create a list of all the peoples and counties who had a legitimate beef with Nazi Germany, during the Second World War the Jews would be at the top and Finland would be at the very bottom. Finland was in a horrible position (literally) as it fought a nasty civil war, to keep Stalin from taking control of their country, but in doing so they signed a pact with the devil, and for most of the war,...
