A cinematographer based in St. John's, NL, Canada, Ian Vatcher has worked in film and television for the past 18 years.
Vatcher's credits include work on television series such as Hudson & Rex, Republic of Doyle, Little Dog and Frontier, as well as the WWI documentary Newfoundland at Armageddon. Recent feature-length projects include G. Patrick Condon's Incredible Violence and Justin Oakey's Riverhead. His most recent credits as a camera operator include the series Little Dog (seasons 1-2), Frontier (seasons 1-3) and Caught. For his work on Hudson & Rex, Vatcher received a Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Photography, Drama in 2020.
Vatcher also works in the commercial and short film worlds as DOP/Operator. Productions include the critically acclaimed Sadie, Infanticide, Winners, and Ida Here and There.
A volunteer with NIFCO's First Time Filmmaker, and Picture Start programs, Vatcher has held various filmmaking sessions on the topics of Camera Operating and Cinematography.
