Canadian director Patricia Chica won a tenth award for her short film Day Before Yesterday at the Williamsburg International Film Festival. She took home the "Outstanding Achievement in Filmmaking Award" and her short film will be presented tomorrow at the Concordia University.
Her short film will be presented tomorrow at the Concordia University in Montreal during the LatinArte Festival. The point of this event is to present us cultural works produced by Canadian of Hispanic heritage.
In the short's story, a woman (Michelle Boback) is found unconscious in the middle of downtown Montreal. Since she seems to suffer from a memory loss, she's taken to a police precinct. Besides, she's interrogated by two officers (Jacques Godin and Richard Robitaille) who try hard to find out who she is despite the gargantuan lack of clues.

On Friday, June 4th, Canadian filmmaker Patricia Chica got a tribute retrospect in her honour organized by Festivalissimo, a film festival, at the Ex-Centris movie theatre. Besides, Chica got decorated.
First of all, the 150 people who attended this event in Montreal saw twelve film and video works of the past twelve years, in chronological order, in order for the viewers to witness the evolution of her narrative and visual style as an artist. There was the short film The Promise, some music videos directed by Chica, teasers of the documentaries Rockabilly 514 and Twice K.O., as well as her latest film Day Before Yesterday.
Among the personalities that showed up at the screening there were various actors and protagonists from her films such as Francine Grimaldi (The Promise), Michelle Boback and Richard Robitaille (Day Before Yesterday), The Richard and Eric Paradis (fetish scene celebrities) as well as Magdalena Piwowarski...

During the last week-end, Day Before Yesterday (my review), an eleven-minute short film directed by Patricia Chica, won its 8th award at the Sacramento International Film Festival.
This means that this short psychological thriller about an amnesiac woman received the Outstanding Foreign Short Film Award. The week before that, Patricia Chica's work (starring Michelle Boback, JacquesGodin, Richard Robitaille and Leif Anderson) had won the Platinum Remi Award (1rst Place for Best Directing - Short Film category) at the WorldFest - Houston International Film Festival.
Moreover, if you're curious about this short film, you can see it at the Ex-Centris movie theatre on Friday, June 4, 2010 at 5 p.m. during a retrospective of Chica's films that Festivalissimo is presenting this year. This event will also be an opportunity to discover the filmmaker's earlier works; such award-winning shorts like The Promise (featuring a cast of Montrealers: Victoria Sanchez, Stéphane Gagnon, Manuel Tadros,...

As you've probably heard it, the Rendez-vous du cinéma québécois has already begun. However, if you're a fan of shorts you may want to consider having a look at Day Before Yesterday, a 11-minute short directed by Patricia Chica.
In the story, a woman (Michelle Boback) is found unconscious in the middle of downtown Montreal. Since she seems to suffer from a memory loss, she's taken to a police precinct. Besides, she's interrogated by two officers (Jacques Godin and Richard Robitaille) who try hard to find out who she is despite the gargantuan lack of clues.
Honestly, I'm not the kind of person you'd expect to review a short. However, Patricia Chica's work positively astonishes us by its production value. Obviously, from its cinematography to the care for the details (ex: the use of a free newspaper that actually exists), this short can certainly amaze us as much as a feature film.
