“When the Time Is Right” manages to be both nonchalant and agitated at the same time. Producer Cody Currie lays out a series of contrasts — between the stubby, stabbing electric piano and the marauding bass, between a stern, slapping cymbal and a stream of hurrying, rat-a-tat percussion — over a driving rhythm. Damon Albarn staged a “cross pollination” between his many projects Saturday as his Gorillaz‘ welcomed Blur guitarist Graham Coxon onstage to cover that band’s “Song 2.”
