Nicki Minaj and Stephen Colbert gave one of the most fan-favorite interviews when the former graced The Late Show in 2018. The ‘Queen of Rap’ delighted the fans again when she visited the Stephen Colbert show earlier this year to promote her latest album Pink Friday 2.
The fans were elated to see that Minaj and Colbert’s chemistry still rocks on stage. While the entire episode was a hit, the Colbert Questionert part gave us an interesting insight into the personality of the 41-year-old singer.

Nicki Minaj presented some of the best answers when she faced the rapid-fire questions. But very few responses were as savage as her answer when she was asked to choose between a window seat and an aisle seat in an airplane.
How did Nicki Minaj silence Stephen Colbert with her response?

FX‘s The Bear returns for Season 3 on Hulu in mere days, and while most of what’s to come remains a mystery, star Jeremy Allen White got candid about the latest chapter in an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. During their conversation, White confirmed, “I get out of the fridge which is good.” Referring to his character Carmy Berzatto’s status at the end of Season 2 when he found himself trapped in the walk-in during the opening night of his restaurant. Despite the stressful scenario, White assured Colbert that Season 3 is binge-worthy, despite his own aversion to watching himself in the hit series. “I have a very hard time watching myself on-camera… I don’t do it, I don’t like it,” the actor admitted. After receiving screeners for the season though, White revealed, “I usually wait for a very long time or don’t watch at all,...

It’s the ultimate way for comedians to punch up.
“Can we laugh at God?” asked Pope Francis this morning at a gathering of more than 100 comedians from around the world. “Of course, we can, just as we play and joke with the people we love. The Jewish wisdom and literary tradition is a master in this. It is possible to do this without offending the religious sentiments of believers, especially the poor.”
Not sure what the Pontiff was up to with his “especially the poor” caveat, but good to know that God is fair game in the comedy business. Pope Francis delivered his message to a group that included Stephen Colbert, Whoopi Goldberg, Chris Rock, Jimmy Fallon, Jim Gaffigan, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Conan O’Brien. It was like the guest list at SNL’s 50th birthday party without everyone having to kiss Lorne Michaels’ ass.

Pope Francis met with more than 100 comedians from around the world on Friday, telling the gathering that included Stephen Colbert, Whoopi Goldberg and Chris Rock that they “unite people, because laughter is contagious.”
“Your talent is a precious gift,” the pope told them, per the Vatican. “Together with a smile, it spreads peace in our hearts and among others, helping us to overcome difficulties and cope with everyday stress. It helps us find relief in irony and go through life with humor. I like to pray daily with the words of Saint Thomas More: ‘Grant me, O Lord, a good sense of humor.'”
Others attending included Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jimmy Fallon, Jim Gaffigan, Mike Birbiglia, and Conan O’Brien.
In his remarks, the pope also credited the comedians for addressing real-world issues, as a number of the personalities draw on political humor in late-night and stand up.

There was much concern within the late-night community that there would only be three nominations for the Emmys’ Outstanding Talk Series category.
However, this morning as voting for nominations opened, it has emerged that the category will have four nominations thanks to 14 submissions in the category.
This means that the category has only lost one nomination slot from last year, as opposed to two, which was the worry before voting opened.
Last year, The Daily Show, then hosted by Trevor Noah, won the Talk Emmy, beating out Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Late Night with Seth Meyers, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and The Problem with Jon Stewart.
Emmy rules suggest that because there were 14 submissions, this is divided by four and rounded up so 3.5 turns into four nominations. Had there been one fewer submission, it would have only been three.
Submissions were Black Girl Stuff, The Conversations Project, The Daily Show,...

A birthday dinner for Stephen Colbert turned into a humbling experience for John Oliver.
While guesting Wednesday on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers recalled an outing the two had with Oliver, Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon to celebrate Colbert’s 60th birthday.
Before the festivities began, Meyers, Kimmel and Oliver were waiting for the party to begin when they were approached by a British couple who was so excited to meet a certain late night host.
But they weren’t interested in snapping a shot with their fellow countryman Oliver, who hosts Last Week Tonight for HBO.
They wanted face time with ABC’s Kimmel, instead.
“They asked Oliver if Oliver would take a picture of them with Kimmel,” Meyers explained. “By the way, Oliver loves stuff like this. So happy. And then Fallon came in and they were like, “It’s Jimmy Fallon.’ And they took a picture.

CBS will continue to stay up extra late with After Midnight.
The network has renewed the late-night show, hosted by comedian Taylor Tomlinson, for a second season in 2024-25. After Midnight is an updated take on @midnight, Comedy Central’s former late-night show, and boasts some of the same creative team.
“Taylor is a gifted comedian who brings a unique voice, energy and plenty of rizz to late night. I learned rizz is a real word thanks to the show,” CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach said in a statement. “We’re excited for more of her daily smart takes about the dumbest things on the Internet.”
Like its predecessor, After Midnight features a group of comedians giving their take on the best/worst/weirdest of the internet and social media each day. The show recently added a monologue for Tomlinson that includes her interacting with the studio audience.

Billie Eilish returned to the Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Monday night to perform “The Greatest,” a standout cut from her recent album Hit Me Hard and Soft.
Eilish began the performance with just her brother Finneas backing her on guitar, running through the first verse and chorus in a stirring, intimate fashion. Like the studio version, however, Eilish eventually built to an epic full-band climax, wailing over pounding drums, silky strings, and Finneas’ guitar. Watch the performance of “The Greatest” below.

Her performance on Monday night marked her second on Colbert in the last month — she previously stopped by two weeks ago to perform “Lunch,” which recently made our list of the 100 best songs of the year so far.
Meanwhile, Eilish is gearing up for a major 2024 tour, which kicks off in September — and rest assured, she recently told fans that she would “not do a three-hour show.

Olivia Cooke saw herself become a household name after her success with Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One, and the adaptation of Ernest Cline’s groundbreaking love-letter to 80’s pop culture. Cooke currently stars in Season 2 of House of the Dragon, reprising her role as Alicent Hightower the wife of the late Viserys I Targaryen.

However, when Cooke was on the set of Ready Player One, the actress was still a relative newcomer in the industry, with the Spielberg-helmed project being her first big gig, the actress had the opportunity to meet a slew of celebrities who were close to Spielberg, given how well connected the director was thanks to his standing in the industry.

It’s safe to say Hozier is having a moment. Back in April, he became the first Irish artist to to top the Billboard Hot 100 since Sinead O’Connor with his song “Too Sweet.” And this week, he’s again making history by playing a four-night sold-out run at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, New York — the first artist to do so in the venue’s 101-year history.
Hozier has plenty of more tour dates on the horizon, including festival appearances at Lollapalooza, Newport Folk Fest, and Montreal’s Osheaga, plus a run of headlining shows across North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. As a preview, he stopped by the Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Thursday to perform the chart-topping “Too Sweet.”

Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, Kenan Thompson, Michael Che and Colin Jost all have hosted the Primetime Emmys in the past 15 years, but the late-night community once again is feeling aggrieved by the TV Academy as it heads into the latest awards season.
The central issue relates to the number of nominations in the Outstanding Talk Series and Outstanding Variety Series categories and the difficulty with fairly judging a wide range of shows that can be very different from each other.
Insiders tell Deadline that there needs to be a change in terms of how late-night shows and variety series are judged at the Emmys. However, no one can really agree what that change is.
As the television world prepares for Emmy nominations to be unveiled on July 17, there are expected to be only three talk shows nominated for an award. Separately, Saturday Night Live and Last...

With each of the major late-night hosts back on the air Monday night after all but one missed their chance last week to bask in the biggest legal news since Jay Leno unleashed “The Dancing Itos” during the Oj trial, the only thing missing was a song all of them could sing in unison. Maybe:
“Can You Feel the Gloat Tonight?”
In the wake of the criminal conviction of Donald Trump, there was indeed a whole lot of gloating going on. And why not? The late-night quintet of Stewart, Colbert, Kimmel, Fallon, and Meyers (which might work as the name of a “lawfare” law firm) has been roasting Trump for years, often with something less than unabashed glee because he seemed to always dance just out of reach of any official comeuppance.
Here was comeuppance in abundance—34 counts worth of felonies. Each of the hosts took advantage, some more than others.

Stephen Colbert took his turn commenting on the Donald Trump aide making headlines as the “human printer” during his Thursday night monologue. It began with him noting that the campaign had taken down a video with a headline about a “unified reich” under Trump, which they had said was posted by a junior staffer.
The New York Times reported this week that Natalie Harp is the person responsible, both helping to run his Truth Social social media account and supplying Trump with printouts containing “mood-boosting news” the former president is often seen reading from. Colbert noted that Harp carries a portable printer that lets her quickly produce hard copies of articles for Trump.
“When she really needs his attention, she prints those positive news [stories] right on a slice of bologna,” Colbert joked, before miming Trump reading the news, sniffing it and licking it. He also continued a run of meat-related...

Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert might host comedy shows, but according to a new poll, they’re about as trusted as serious news anchors.
The Hollywood Reporter and decision intelligence firm Morning Consult asked 2,239 adults in the U.S. how much they trusted various TV hosts. While the survey’s focus was mostly on news anchors, three politically-inclined late-night hosts were also included in the survey—and performed favorably.
The survey was conducted over two days in early May, well into Jon Stewart’s run as Monday-night host of The Daily Show.
Asked “How much do you trust [insert anchor name here]?,” respondents had a choice of 5 answers: “A lot,” “Some,” “Not much,” “Not at all,” or “Don’t know / No opinion.”
Both Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert fared about the same: 57% of those surveyed said they had either “a lot” or “some” trust in both hosts.

Billie Eilish stopped by the Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday night, where she staged the first live performance in support of her new album, Hit Me Hard and Soft. Teaming up with her brother Finneas, Eilish performed “Lunch.”
Eilish also sat down with Colbert for a three-segment interview, where she discussed the inspiration behind the album’s title and cover, why she considers it her most personal project to date, and playing Coachella with Lana Del Rey. Eilish also named-checked some of the vocalists she considered her biggest inspirations, including Lana Del Rey, Mariana + The Diamonds, Ella Fitzgerald, Chet Baker, and confirmed her interest in one day making an album of standards.
This fall, Eilish will embark on the “Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour.” The expansive outing takes place over 10 months across three continents, stopping in cities like New York, Atlanta, Sydney, Paris, and many more.

The event, which is scheduled to take place June 15th in Los Angeles, comes on the heels of a New York event hosted by Kimmel’s late-night competitor Stephen Colbert. That event, which saw Colbert interview Biden, Obama and Bill Clinton at Radio City Music Hall, raised a record-setting $26 million for Biden’s reelection campaign.
A venue hasn’t yet been announced for Kimmel’s event, but it’s set to include at least two other Hollywood heavy hitters in George Clooney and Julia Roberts, who are being billed as “special guests.”
A frequent foe of Donald Trump, Kimmel’s name has come up several times in the former president...

Steve Carell wasn’t the only person Stephen Colbert spent his 60th birthday with. He also celebrated with… other Stephen Colberts.
In honor of the Late Show host’s big day, Colbert’s staff members all came to work Monday wearing outfits inspired by Colbert’s wardrobe—both on-air and off.
The Late Show posted clips of the antics on its Instagram account as part of the show’s behind-the-scenes series “Late Show Me More.”
The clip shows Colbert entering his morning meeting, only to realize that he’s surrounded by fashion doppelgängers.

In the dynamic landscape of late-night television, an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert often reveals unexpected insights into the lives and minds of celebrities. Such was the case when Ryan Gosling, the talented actor known for his roles in films such as La La Land and the recent The Fall Guy, gave an answer that left audiences both amused and enlightened. On May 15th, during a segment of The Late Show’s renowned Colbert Questionert, Ryan Gosling was asked by host Stephen Colbert to answer a series of rapid-fire questions. Elon Musk may only be the third richest person in the world, but among his peers he’s the number one target of many late-night hosts. So it’s hardly surprising that the Tesla founder—who has a reputation for trying to disrupt the media spaces he does not like (see: the social media network formerly known as Twitter)—has set his sights on burning late-night television to the ground.
No, Musk isn’t planning to hop behind a desk and deliver a nightly monologue. But apparently he does think that Grok, his AI chatbot, has the talent to out-funny all the Jimmys and Jo(h)ns who currently occupy the post-primetime daypart.
Musk took to X early Thursday to share his plans, explaining: “Grok will soon offer a humorous take on the news in the spirit of how The Daily Show and Colbert Report used to be in ancient times.

Audience members at Tuesday’s taping of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert were treated to a surprise appearance from Billie Eilish.
The newly minted Oscar winner sat for an interview with Colbert and then performed two songs, “Lunch” and “The Greatest,” from her forthcoming album Hit Me Hard and Soft.
That makes the Colbert audience the first crowd to hear those songs, which have not been heard in full ahead of the album’s release this Friday.
Eilish’s appearance was kept secret until midway through the taping. “It was a complete surprise,” said one reddit user who attended the show. “We were initially told by Stephen that it was going to be Jennifer Hudson and an actress who’s playing Amy Winehouse in a biopic.

Stephen Colbert celebrated his 60th birthday on Monday—but it was viewers of The Late Show who received the best gift: an unexpected revival of “Even Stevphen,” a long-running bit from Colbert and Steve Carell’s time together on The Daily Show.
As Colbert got ready to start the show, he acknowledged that it was a monumental day for him, but opined that “I think aging is a good thing.” It was then that Carell suddenly appeared on the stage, bellowing “You are wrong, Stephen!” to his former late-night colleague.
For old-school fans of The Daily Show, it was clear that the two Steves were about to engage in one of their classic “Even Stevphen” debates. The topic? Aging.
Carell made his not-so-happy feelings about getting older clear when he lamented that “We are born astride a grave and, each day, the cruel grasp of time pulls us closer to oblivion.

Paul Simon appeared as the musical guest on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Monday night to perform “Slip Slidin’ Away” in celebration of Colbert’s 60th birthday.
Simon, 82, staged a faithful, intimate rendition of “Slip Slidin’ Away” with just an acoustic guitar and a microphone. The song, which originally appeared on Simon’s 1977 compilation album Greatest Hits, Etc., has become a fan-favorite since its release. Watch Simon’s stirring performance of the track below.
Colbert opened the show by announcing his 60th birthday, joking, “I am now the same age as Ian McKellen when he was cast as Gandalf.” Before Simon’s closing performance, the show’s guest was longtime Colbert collaborator Steve Carrell. The two discussed their early days performing in Chicago, Carrell’s recent run in Uncle Vanya on Broadway, and they reprised their “Even Stevphen” segment from their days as correspondents on The Daily Show.

Stephen Colbert’s bandleader is giving the Late Show host the gift of music as he celebrates a milestone birthday.
Born in 1964, Colbert turns 60 today. To mark the occasion, Late Show Band bandleader Louis Cato posted a special performance of one Colbert’s favorite songs. As part of his weekly #CatoCover series on Instagram, Cato performed a rooftop acoustic rendition of Glen Campbell’s “Wichita Lineman.”
Colbert will be spending the landmark birthday at work, kicking off a week of new Late Show episodes. But he’ll be celebrating with old friends and heroes.
His guest tonight is Steve Carell, one of Colbert’s closest friends. The two came up together at The Second City in Chicago, and both went on to star in the short-lived The Dana Carvey Show. They then served as correspondents on Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show, overlapping from 1999-2005.

During his Thursday appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Ryan Gosling dug deep and answered some questions from the host that normally wouldn’t be revealed.
Included in that was a query on whether he had ever asked someone else for an autograph.
“The first person I asked was The Ultimate Warrior, and he said no,” Gosling said, referring to the pro wrestler. “But the second person I asked — the first person to give it to me — was Ms. Angela Bassett.”
Gosling said the moment came just after he had seen the 1993 Tina Turner biopic, What’s Love Got to Do With It, for which Bassett garnered a nomination for a Best Actress Oscar. Gosling was in the lobby of the AMC Theatre where he’d caught the movie.
