Award winning composer, song writer Soleiman Akbari was born in Iran in 1935. As a young child in Tehran his parents noticed his love of music and exposed him to different instruments until at the age of 12 he enrolled in Persian National Music Conservatory in Tehran. His first instrument was Clarinet which he mastered under Master Vazirbar. However his real love was playing Piano and accordion. He mastered classical piano under instruction of Mr. Kaporshinsky, Madam Kharakian and Milik Eslanian. Later he studied music theory under instruction of Farzaneh, and harmony instruction under Houshang Ostovar. He mastered the most difficult music of the time by Aram Khachaturian famous Armenian Soviet composer.
In the late 50's he was invited by Mr Badizadeh who worked in National Iranian Radio to join the Shama VA Radio (you and the Radio) orchestra. For the next 20 years not only he played piano in all the major Orchestra of the National Radio and TV, he also composed over 500 memorable songs of the 60's and 70's of the Iranian Pop Music to singers like Marzieh, Ravanbakhsh, Elaheh, Pouran, Hayedeh, Googoosh, Vigen, Iraj, Aref, Manouchehr, Giti, Yasmin, Shohreh, Sattar and Nasrin and many other talented singers.
Although he had written and arranged several composition for film at the time, in 1974 he was invited to compose music for the movie "Zire Pouste Shab" ( Under the skin of the night" which was directed by Mohandes Salehi. Not only the film was noted as one of the best film of the year, Mr. Akbari won the best music composition for Sepas Award (Iranian version of Oscars). He continued composing songs until the late 70's by working with Manouchehr Bibiyan, Apollo music company. In the 1980's he worked on a solo piano album called Shokoufehaye Eshgh (Blossom of Love), which met with great reviews.
His work for the movie and songs like Toufan (storm) and Amvaj (waves) were noted and picked for study by Japanese Classical Studies institute which was studying Iranian music in the 1990.
Solomon Akbari reside in Irvine, CA with his family and still enjoy writing music and has taught over 200 students which have gone to become successful in their own field.
